Getting out of the car and walking towards the mall, Lunna had to stop Emily from walking into cars in the parking lot because she couldn't stop looking at the letter.
Finally, Lunna was fed up.
She snatched the letter from Emily, messily folded it up, and shoved it in her pocket.
"Hey!" Emily exclaimed. "I was looking at that!"
Lunna rolled her eyes.
"Emily, you've almost gotten hit by three cars and we haven't even made it inside the mall yet! For now, I'm taking it until we get home."
Emily did a little pout, but she was over it as soon as they made it into the mall and dashed into Claire's.
"We're only gonna stay in here for a little bit, Emily. After this, I wanna go to Hot Topic."
Emily, obviously occupied with the sequin cat ears she found, waved her hand dismissively as if saying "yeah, yeah, okay."
After Lunna and Emily walked around the mall for a bit, they stopped in the food court to get something to eat before they left.
As Lunna was looking down at her phone, unbeknownst to her, she suddenly slammed into a dark-haired boy about her age.
"Geez, watch where you-"
Looking in front of her, the boys' towering figure reached out a hand to help her up.
Blushing ever-so slightly, she took his hand and stood up.
"Lunna! Are you okay?" Emily asked, before looking up and seeing the blonde-haired boy standing next to the tall one.
"Oh, hi, James! I didn't know you'd be here today!"
James smiled and hugged Emily lightly.
"Hey, Emily! I didn't know you would be here either."
Lunna, obviously looking confused, looked at the dark haired boy and shrugged.
"I'm Mason, by the way," he said.
"Oh, uh, I'm Lunna. Thanks for helping me."
Emily looked at both of them up and down for a second before averting her gaze back to James.
After they all introduced themselves to each other and said their goodbyes, Emily eyed Lunna with a smirk.
"Don't give me that look. I know what you're thinking and it's wrong. I'll probably never see him again anyway."
Emily smiled.
"I wouldn't be so sure about that. I have a feeling that you'll be seeing a lot more of him."
Lunna laughed.
"And what about you and James? You said you met him at school. And..."
She lowered her voice to a whisper.
"He has abilities like us."
Emily nodded.
"He does," she said. "But I can't tell you what kind. He asked me not to."
"Does that mean Mason does too?"
Emily shook her head.
"I don't know. We'll just have to get to know him."
She winked.
