2:00 PM
Marcus arrived at Joey's house extremely late, and was worried that Joey would be irate.
As he knocked on the door, he pondered if turning around and going home was a safer option, but quickly disregarded the idea as Joey opened the door.
"Hey man, I was worried that you got hurt since you took so long!" Joey exclaimed, ushering Marcus into his house.
"Sorry about that, something came up." Marcus said, praying Joey wouldn't ask him further questions.
As they walked through Joey's house, Marcus noticed that if he focused on an item, he could see a value along with its name and description. He assumed that the reason the stuff from the gift box didn't have a value was due to them not being originally of this world.
Eventually, they reached Joey's bedroom.
"Why is your house so huge?!" Marcus exclaimed.
"My parents didn't want me to have to spend my time in San Francisco with nowhere to live, so they opted for this house" Joey tried to explain to Marcus.
Joey was a transfer student from the United Kingdom with rich parents.
The fact that he was attractive, wealthy, and friendly were often the reason that people tried to take advantage of him. Marcus on the other hand had barely now found out about his wealth after months of friendship as Joey never mentioned it.
"So what do you wanna do today?" Marcus asked after he had grasped Joey's affluence, making no extra effort to impress Joey.
Marcus wasn't the type of person to change his attitude of others based on their wealth, and whether or not his friends were rich or poor didn't affect his opinion of them.
Joey was happy that Marcus didn't treat him any differently and openly challenged him to a round of a popular new video game, "Super Smack Bros", which could get extremely competitive.
Many hours passed as the only thing that could be heard was constant yelling coming from what sounded like two young adults originating from the large house at the end of the street.
6:00 PM
Marcus finally decided it was time to go, as he had a good time and didn't want to intrude on Joey any longer.
"I'll see you later, alright?" he said, as he walked out the door.
"Alright, but next time I'll beat you!" Joey shouted from the doorway.
Marcus began driving home, wondering why he was able to play so well today, especially towards the end.
He decided he should check the game menus, but nothing in the inventory or mail could explain the sudden rise in ability.
He realized that he could very well have more menus that he had not yet seen. He decided to try a common RPG menu, and thought of the word "Skills".
As soon as the word was thought, a menu appeared from his watch. He breathed a sigh of relief, realizing that if the menu had taken up his vision he would have crashed. He pulled over and looked at his watch to view the new menu.
[Skills]
[Unarmed Combat] Lv.2 - 0/1,000XP [Healing] Lv.3 - 0/10,000XP
[Running] Lv.5 - 0/1,000,000 [Video Games] Lv.1 - 83/100XP
[Endurance] Lv.10 - 0/10,000,000,000 [Charm] Lv.1 - 0/100XP
Marcus couldn't believe his eyes, why did some of his skills have an extreme level and xp difference? Why did he have a new skill [Video Games], and how had he almost reached level 2 with it?
After sitting in his car on the side of the road deep in thought, he understood what had happened. The system he had been given, had also given him the ability to level up.
He played video games with Joey and was able to accumulate experience points to level up. It seemed that each level took 10x the experience of the previous level to increase.
The reason that he had different skills and levels that he hadn't trained seemed to be the skill books from before. He had assumed that they were all the same, but it turns out that the color of the book affects the amount of level gained.
Red was 1 level, green was 3 levels, blue was 5 levels, but surprisingly the golden tome had been 10 levels.
"Maybe there's a color I haven't found yet?" he pondered out loud.
It was at this point that it dawned on him that if there was a skills menu there should also be a stats menu. He opened the Stats Menu and was greeted with the expected results. All of his stats were at 1 except for Charisma, which he had raised with the Charm Candy.
He decided he needed to test his new Charm ability with his Charisma stat.
He wondered who he could use as his test subject for his new ability, and ultimately ended up deciding to test it on his siblings Joshua and Julie.
He began to drive home with a devilish grin across his face.
