All I hear are the screams of agony as the villagers are being slaughtered and the flames of the of the burning village.
How did I not see this sooner...
"Why... Why are you doing this?"
He got off his horse and walks towards me. "Well you see my dear, this village has something very interesting in it..." He drew out his sword, pointing the blade at me. "You"
He quickly dashes towards me and swings his sword. I manage to block it with the shaft of my spear, but the impact was strong enough to sap out most of my strength and send me tumbling onto the ground.
My arms are already weak from the hit as I slowly push myself back up. "M-Me? Why... I don't understand"
"It's simple really. The gods want to make things a little more interesting, and you're going to be their test subject"
He continues to rush towards me and I continue to stop his attacks. But as the battle prolongs, his swings seems to be getting stronger and his swings are starting to cut me.
I can't keep this up. As each second passes, more blood and energy leaves my body. Fatigue is starting to take over my body. "P-Please... stop this..."
"Oh? Is the hero giving up already? I thought you would put up more of a fight. Aren't you trying to get back home? Where's your rage? Your burning passion? Come on then! Get up and fight!"
It's useless. My legs feel weak, I could barely stand. The throbbing pain is circulating through my body.
"Tsk. You disappoint me me Hiromi."
I look up to see his sword raised above his head, slowly being engulfed with flames. I brace myself for what seems to be my final moment...

*3 Months Earlier*
"Ugh... W-What... Where am I?"
A blinding white light shines down on my eyes. I slowly stand up still feeling a little drowsy. "Huh?" Looking around, I notice this room isn't mine. The wooden walls on all sides, the half melted candles hanging from the doorway, and the wooden furniture scattered across the room made it clear that this isn't my room. Heck, this isn't even my house or any other house I've been in. This setting reminds me of something from the medieval ages. What am I doing here? Is this a dream or something?
I turn to see a reflection of myself in a mirror. My blue eyes and black shoulder length hair are the same, but my clothing is completely different. I am wearing leather pants along with woolen clothes and a leather tunic on top. "So my clothes have a medieval flair to them as well huh?" In the middle of admiring my new clothing, I notice a strange black mark on the side of my neck. As I take a closer look at it, I realize that the mark is more of a symbol of some sorts. It's a black triangle divided up into three sections, with the two at the sides looking like smaller triangles and the middle looking like a spear. Odd, I don't recall ever getting a tattoo before.
My confused state quickly changed to a surprised one as I hear a beeping noise coming from somewhere in the room. I pinpoint the noise to a small device that was no bigger than a thumb drive which sat on the window frame. The device is dark blue with a weird black pattern on it and had a blue gem at one end which is flashing in sync with the beeping. With my curiosity piqued I decided to pick it up, wondering how to make the noise to stop. This thing feels light in my hands, but other than the cool design there is nothing else interesting about it. After a few seconds, the beeping and flashing stopped. "What was that about?" As I put it into my pocket, a projection appeared above it and a hooded figure spoke.
Greetings. I know many of you are confused, allow me to explain. My name is Alvaganto and you are all here to entertain the gods of this world. As you may realize by now you are not on the Earth you know. Here in this world magic and magical creatures exist. You may call these such things as a fantasy in your world, but in here they are a reality. One million of you otherworlders are summoned here and you all have one task... Escape. This world is slowly being corrupted by evil and malice, from the humans to creatures alike. But fret not, there is a way for all of you to return home. Though I cannot tell you what it is or where it is located at, I can speak of its existence. Escape this world of evil while you entertain the gods. Oh, and one other thing I should mention. You can identify other person of your world from the marks on their necks. You never know who you can trust.
And with that, the introduction is over. "Well shoot. That was a lot of information to take in." I mean, other world? Magic? Evil creatures and gods? What is all this? Well, at least I know what that mark on my neck is now. "Argh, in any case I should probably find that way home. I'm pretty sure that Alvaganto person didn't make it easy though." I put on some leather boots I found in the closet dresser and head out of the room. Then it occurred to me, this isn't my house? That thought is reinforced with a *thud* noise followed by a soft voice as I open the door. "Owwie..." I peak outside the door to see who is the unfortunate fellow who just so happened to be right in front of the door as I opened it. Looking around, I notice that a small boy is laying on the ground as he rubbed the top of his head.
"Dad... I think the girl is awake."
"Oh gosh, I'm sorry." As I help him up, I notice a man and a woman across the hall sitting by a dining table. The two of them didn't look that old, perhaps they're in their mid twenties. The man gave a small wave while the woman gave a gentile smile. "Hey there. Finally awake I see."
"Hey, hope I'm not bothering you or anything"
"No, not at all. In fact having you here is a nice change of pace"
"How long have I been asleep for?
"About 2 days I'd say. You were out cold on the ground outside of this village when I stumbled upon you one day. You were holding something in your hand to while you slept. Never seen any of those around here, what is that?"
"Uhh, a good luck charm" That couldn't be further from the truth. Also, 2 days? I've been asleep for two days? That made me wonder, is there anyone else that was summoned here besides me?
"Excuse me but, did you see anyone else sleeping around here? Someone with the the same mark as this?" I show them the mark on my neck, hoping that there might be another person. "Nope, sorry, you're the only one. Are you a part of a clan or faction Miss?"
"Something... like that." Strange. One million people was summoned in this world I was the only one summoned here? Talk about unlucky. "Anyways, thank you for your hospitality Mr..."
"Cohen. Akihiko Cohen, but you can call me Akihiko. My wife's name is Mia and my little boy here is Kentaro. And you are?"
"Hiromi Ellis, a pleasure to meet you."
"Come, join me outside. You should get to know the village and the folks that live here. Mia will stay here with Kentaro"
The little boy ran towards his mother, both of them laughing and smiling at each other. What a cute family.
"Sure, I'll be right there." I followed Akihiko as we made our way to the front door. My imagination is running wild with the thought of actually seeing another world. He opened the door and the sunlight once again shines upon my eyes.
