Nella sat for a few minutes in silence. Her heartbeat slowed down to normal. She gave a long sigh, she knew the time would come. They had been talking about it before at length. Hearing the words, the time for the inevitable to happen. Nella steeled herself she would have to face it. She couldn't leave the system on its own. Millions of people would lose their home, if not their lives. Nella had to act.
Straightening herself on the chair as she spoke.
"Call the Tribe Trylem Terra HQ." A screen in front of her flicked to life. A waveform moved on the screen. Nella sneaked in a look at Hull. He was demeanor was calm. It had to be as hard for him as for her, she thought. The waveform turned into a man of Asian descent and cut of Nella's thoughts.
"Trylem Terra HQ, contact officer Yang." Said the man clad in orange with black embellishments. The man had a neutral expression and a calm clear voice. Perfect for his role.
"Hunter 2 - Magenta Transcendent, requesting system-level threat contact." Nella said sitting straight in her chair. She never got over how amusing it was seeing other's trying to contain their excitement. This case was no different. Contact Officer Yang took a moment to process what he had heard. His eyes lit up and his expression was barely kept at neutral. Another wave hit as he realized the request for a system-level threat contact. His face was in a battle between neutral, excited and terrified. Contact Officer Yang's experience kicked in and he answered.
"System threat level contact granted." Yang pressed a few buttons under the screen. "Connecting." Yang continued and gave the practitioner's greeting. Right hand at heart with three fingers extended. Nella wore a light smile and nodded in response. The image of Contact Officer Yang blinked out and was replaced by the waveform.
The waveform gathered to form a woman in bed. She was blinking hard to get herself awake. She was an older pale woman with blonde hair. Her surroundings were a deep blue as she was covered in blankets.
"Hunter 2- Magenta Transcendent." Nella said after there was no greeting from the other side. The name saw an immediate reaction on the other side. The woman shook her head and sat up. She gathered a stray hair out from her face and replied.
"Trylem Terra High Authority Holly." With another hard blink, her tiredness was gone. Holly swallowed and gathered to speak. "How may I help you transcendent?"
"Kunai Parasites." Nella said matter of fact. Holly's face contorted and soon drooped. The shallow breathing of Holly reverberated on the bridge. Nella was waiting for Holly to gather herself when a loud slurp from beside her cut the silence short. Hull's loud slurp was met with a disapproving glare from Nella. The slurp worked, Holly had regained her senses.
"How bad?" Holly said and before Nella had time to answer Holly continued. "On what planet?" Holly had an intense gaze, her brain working overtime. Nella took a mouthful of coffee before explaining what she knew.
The duo had decided to leave the exploration to a more experienced party. They hadn't met any Kunai Parasites before. Holly would have to send someone who could make a better guess at the gravity of the situation.
After explaining the situation Holly's expression was grave. A few seconds later she did the only thing that made sense in the situation. She got on her knees and bowed her head.
"I would be honored to have your help." Holly said in a desperate plea. She had no authority to command Nella even if they both belonged to the same organization.
Nella looked at Hull who had already been looking at her. He gave a light smile and a nod. Nella returned the smile and turned back to answer Holly. "We will help." Holly sank down from her knees, sitting like a child. Relief shone on Holly's face as Nella continued.
"ETA 3 Hours"
The GK. Agnes had docked at the station orbiting Trylem Terra. The GK. Agnes was special in how it despite its immense size could do planet-side landings. On a civilized planet, it was easier to dock in space and take a smaller shuttle to their destination. They had several private shuttles on the GK Agnes and took two. One they both went inside of and another slaved to theirs. It would follow and land with them.
It didn't take long for them to reach the Eurjuus Hotel. A rarity on a planet with tech level 7. The Core World Government had inspections every ten years. The most important time in a planets life-cycle.
The Eurjuus Hotel was a Ten-star hotel. It was the best rating you could have outside of core world areas. It signified the level of the hotel was enough to rival the core world ones. That meant it was prohibitively expensive for the locals. It allowed the area to prosper from ultra-rich tourists and numbered hunters on mission.
The Trylem system was located far from the center, but not at the edges. It had the unique opportunity to be a bridge between the richer inner circle systems and poorer outer circle ones.
The duo landed on the roof of the Eurjuus hotel. They had a welcoming committee waiting for them. The owner of the hotel wasn't there, but was sure to be waiting for his meeting with Hull later this evening.
They had called ahead and rented the whole hotel for themselves. It was necessary to house all the hunters and local practitioners for preparation. Nella would hold a few training sessions and personally stand for some expenses. Including weapons, vehicles and medicinal pills.
The importance of every member on this mission couldn't be overstated. The parasites were close to countless and there was only one real solution. Purging most of the planet.
