Chapter 1 - Dante's Supposition

Everywhere we go these days, you will see printers. Homes, businesses, and stores all have them.

You can find 3D printers in the technical offices and libraries.

They say you can print guns. The device, sure that sounds right. The shell casing, maybe. The slug, OK I will be generous there.

Gunpowder? Nope!

At least not yet.

But maybe that could happen. A 3D printer that can print at the molecular level. Maybe they could even print Gunpowder, someday.

Of course, if you can create gunpowder, you could create all kinds of things. It could be pretty bad things.

Which implies these printers should be have significant protections against hacking.

Hijacked printers making homes and businesses unlivable with a single [make it] command.

I can only suggest that the same technology could also remove all the printers from being a danger.

Have it print a small vial of nitroglycerine. Every printer I have seen is a vibrating and bumpy contraption. Half way through the 'printing' of the vial. Bang. The print head is now shot.

The weaponized printer gets done in by its own creation.
