"For the first years, please note that the Dark Forest is forbidden to all students, and there are places here that are out of bounds. Lastly, for the new students of Hogwarts, you probably know that one must be sorted by the Sorting Hat to belong to any of the four houses. But for this year, the faculty has decided to try and change this." The headmaster announced. He then gestured to call another professor.
Shock and disbelief can be seen in the faces of the old students. Murmurs can be heard, either it is all protests about the change or curiousity towards the new way of sorting.
"For the students to be sorted, please come forward as I call you name and sit to the chair in front. Harley Longbottom" The professor opened her scroll and called the students one by one.
There was nothing new, the students thought. There is still a chair to sit on in front, but it is just that the sorting hat is nowhere to be seen. Harley Longbottom moved towards the chair and sat. His hands were on the armrest, and his fingers were scanned. A hat suddenly appeared, which is not new, but the old students realized that the sorting hat did not sing nor recited a poetry nor a riddle.
The hat rested on Harley's head, and the chair scanned his fingerprint.
"Harley Longbottom: Male;"
There was a long pause then...
"He belongs to the house of Gryffindor"
The students waited for a long time, and so Harley. But there was nothing after that.
Oh, how boring the new way of sorting is. The old sorting hat is better.
A bracelet appeared and attached to his arm. It lit and the plain silver suddenly formed a few red and yellow stripes, the color of his house.
The students who want the old way of sorting has their attention caught by the sudden appearance of a bracelet. But Harley just looked at his bracelet and found it not weird.
This is just a bracelet of Gryffindor, right?
As he already got sorted to his house, he went down and was about to leave when suddenly the teacher called him.
"Mr. Longbottom, for the others to see its features, kindly push the button of your bracelet" the teacher instructed.
He walked up again and did as he was told, he pushed the button. A hologram appeared, with his personal information.
New technology.
His name, gender, age, height, weight and other data was listed. But the thing that caught his attention was the list of his strong and weak points and the reason why he belongs to Gryffindor.
"The bracelet will not only serve as an identification for you students, it also shows your other personal information, your strengths and weaknesses. Additionally, it has a map of the school, the class schedule you have, and your grades in every subject. Your house's current points is also included, which can be found in the upper left of the screen."
"There is a button on the lower right of the screen. This will just appear if you are in first year, when you've been sorted just like now, and when it is the team recruitments. This button for now will let your fellow students to know your abilities by showing it on the hologram." Harley clicked the button and a few information indeed appeared. But it was only about his qualities why he got sorted in Gryffindor.
"Just like Mr. Longbottom's information, he only showed the reason why he is in Gryffindor. There will be a choice whether you'll reveal everything or just selectively. In the team recruitments, your information will only be given to the leader of the team you want to be in, and you can also reveal only a part of your information or all."
The students were already excited to have their own bracelets, and so they gave the teacher a hurry- up- and- let- us- be- sorted- quickly look. The teacher just chuckled and opened her scroll again.
"Miya Lovegood"
Miya's name was called next. She sat on the chair and smiled. Maybe it was not arranged alphabetically, the names in the list?
"Miya Lovegood: Female; Ravenclaw"
She did not reveal her information. Another student was then called.
"Novie Gil: Male; Slytherin"
Oh, I haven't heard that last name before....
"Aeron Weasley: Male; Gryffindor"
He looks cheeky. And easy to get along with.
"Aneeka Weasley: Female; Gryffindor"
She seems cold, but cool. Like, she is silent and has this aura that you should not get close to her but that is what makes her super awesome? Wait, another Weasley, twins? But they're polar opposites...
"Kylie Lux: Female; Ravenclaw"
She looks smart. No wonder she's in Ravenclaw. And she's pretty too, like a princess.
"Vale Potter"
"A Potter? Is he a descendant of Harry Potter?" Ezereath heard a question beside her, which stopped her from giving side comments every other name being called. It was from a boy with a strawberry blonde hair.
"He's Harry Potter's grandson... so its... yes?" Ezereath answered the boy and he looked at her.
"You know him?"
"We sat together in the train."
The boy looked back to the front.
"Vale Potter: Male; Gryffindor"
"As expected... "
Cheers were heard from the house of Gryffindor. Apparently, they prided themselves being the house of The Boy Who Lived, the one who ended You- Know- Who.
"Elfre Malfoy: Female; Slytherin"
"Ophiucus Black: Male; Slytherin"
Ezereath kept on looking at the students being called one by one, to know which are her batchmates and to also know their names.
My name is not yet called and so is this block of ice beside me. Which house would he belong to?
And... I still do not know his name yet.
