Chapter 1 - This is Amazing!

==In a dark alley==

"Come on guys, lets work something out. You guys want money? How about my car? Just don't kill me, please!" A short blue haired teen said as he looked at the three tall figures, the smallest of them being 6'3 tall.

"Shhhhh…" the tallest of the bunch hushed the blue haired teen up. "I don't know if you just have a really shit ability or you really are the only person on the planet to have no ability. Hell, even homeless people have some sort of ability!" the tall teen walked towards the downed blue haired teen. He crouched down so that he was eye level with the blue haired teen, raised his right hand near his cheek as hot steam started to emit from his hand. "One would think that a non ability user would at least make his life productive by… I don't know, actually succeeding in school, getting good grades and get an average paying job perhaps? But you're failing all your classes, college level no less… Well, that's beside the point. You have a sister, right? 1 year older than you, 18, named Emily. Right?"

The short blue haired boy nodded his head vigorously as he looked at the tall teen through his left eye, his right eye being completely swollen to the point where he couldn't even move it without hurting madly.

The two other two youths behind the tall teen smirked.

"Well then… I can let you off without leaving you on death's door if you tell your sister to come to the Walksman bar tomorrow at 7 pm." The tall teen said, lust and greed flashing through his eyes.

The blue haired teen looked at the tall teen in disbelief before cracking a smile.

The tall teen looked at the blue haired teens smile and frowned "What's so funny? You think we're playing around?" He said as he brought his steaming hand closer to the other teens face.

"It is funny! You really think I'll put my sister in danger just because I want to have fewer injuries? You're dreaming! Hahaha!!" the blue haired teen laughed louder.

The tall teen smirked "No, no no! You've mistaken my intentions! I just want to get to know your sister, buy her a drink, maybe even bring her to a room just me and her. Without force of course!"

The short blue haired teen laughed again, he was afraid before. Scared shitless actually. But now that he brought his sister into this conversation, the only thought on the blue haired teens mind was how to make sure these three bastards in front of him would forget about his sister and their plans for her.

The three teens were all brothers, the one being the oldest was talking to him while the youngest was licking his lips in anticipation for tomorrow. The three brothers had similar abilities. They're able to heat their hands up to 100 degrees Celsius!

"Go suck a dick." The blue short haired teen said as he spat on the tall teens face.

The tall teens chuckled for a second before wiping the nasty spit off his face.

"You're dead."

Next thing the blue haired teen knew was he felt burning sensations all over his body, as well as a lot of forming bruises.

========

Lan Senate, that's my name and not one other person has a name like mine… Is what I'd like to think at least. My family is disgustingly rich like it's not even funny. My dad is a guard of the Midrad Royal families King while his mother was one of the Seven Living Treasures. The reason being was because she's able to completely control the element of water in her favour, whenever, wherever. My sister Emily Senate also inherited my moms ability to manipulate water but on a lower scale but she believes one day that she'll be able to be as strong as mom! And that leaves me. My grades are probably the worst in my academy being in the 50's and if it wasn't for my moms standing in the world then I would of probably been kicked out of the school 100 times over. Not only were my grades shit i didn't even have an ability! Can you believe it! I'm the only fucking person without an ability in over 300 years!

Well, the person dying on the ground is me, as you've probably guessed. I have many titles. Retard, idiot, trash, waste. And honestly, every day I start to wonder if I really deserve those titles. At first, I strongly believed that I had an ability but just haven't discovered it yet but here I am, the first time in my life where my life was on the line but no sign of an ability.

= 3rd person POV with Lan=

Lan laid on the ground gasping for breath. His body was shutting down and he could barely move his limbs. His brain racked for ways to survive. It was the perfect way for a trash of a person to die. Alone on the streets by himself with no presence beside him.

Lan couldn't help but stare at the night sky that remained as the only witness to this soon to be murder.

"I guess even in this situation I couldn't manifest my ability huh? All that studying just for 50% on most of my courses?" God was truly unfair to the weak. Just as Lan gave up hope, it happened, his prayer was answered.

His blurry eyes that looked towards the night sky suddenly cleared up like his eyes became high definition. His vision towards the bright stars was much more clear. And it was almost as if his eyes were telescopes. They seemed so close but so far…

His body began to have feeling again and his conscious began remembering. From the moment he was born to the day he went to kindergarten. The day he graduated from elementary school and the first girlfriend and breakup he ever had. He remembered everything.

The pain and burn marks all over his body started to heal at an astonishingly visible speed.

Lan seemed smarter, stronger, and more perceptive. His brain racked for answers and only one word popped in his mind.

"ABILITY"

Did he awaken his ability? "FINALLY!" Lan yelled towards the night sky scaring some stray cats and dogs.

Lan jumped up as if there were never injured in the first place. His mind felt so clear.

"I remember everything! But I don't understand what my ability is." Lan said until he remembered multiple articles he read online.

Humans are only 5% conscious while 95% of the brain is subconscious. The subconscious was like a servant to the conscious, always remembering everything to perfection and never forgetting anything no matter how long ago the event may have occurred. The subconscious tells what the body should do, how fast to do it and what priorities should be taken to sustain the body. It also knew if the body was sick even before the host of the body realized it, even including things like cancer or hidden diseases.

The article also said that if humans could access the 95% subconscious then targeted healing, regrowing limbs, enhanced cognitive ability and perception. It was all a possibility!

"Targeted healing? 100% cognitive (conscious)?" Lan knew everything that was happening in his body from little scratches that would otherwise never been seen or felt by him to viruses that could potentially harm him and the exact amount of blood flowing through his body.

Lan who was currently standing up at a height of 6'2 noticed that he was slightly slouching giving off the vibe of not being confident or great about himself. He instantly straightened his back and shoulders as he held his chin up high. This newfound posture of Lan was something that Lan thought was optimal for confidence and form. Making him worthy of being the child of a living treasure!

It had been 30 minutes since the three thugs that beat him to near pulp left him to die. He instantly called his sister Emily on his phone.

After 3 rings his sister picked up "What's up Lan you know how late it is?"

"Hey sis it's not like ur sleeping. Anyway, you free tomorrow? I was thinking of going to an amusement park and wanted a little time to catch up and have fun." Lan said in a hurry.

"Can't lil bro, already have plans with friends tomorrow. My friend just told me that she apparently booked a spot at a new bar called Walksman bar or something. Maybe some other day?" Emily said apologetically and happy from her brothers kind gesture.

'Shit they're fast' Lan thought.

"How about I come with you?" Lan asked.

"You're too young and plus I don't want you drinking until your 18. Lets talk later okay? My friend is calling me. Sorry Reb-" Emily hung up her phone.

"Dammit!" Lan said punching the wall in the alleyway beside him. Lan thought that the punch wouldn't do much to the wall but he was dead wrong. The alley he was in was abandoned and so were the buildings luckily.

Lan's punch had totally destroyed the two-story building.

"I didn't even punch that hard," Lan said out loud as the bricks were falling down slowly. To slow even for his taste.

After what felt like 5 minutes Lan started to get pissed off "Why haven't all the bricks fallen yet!" Lan said as he racked his brain for answers. "Enhanced perception!" Lan thought.

His body seemed to surpass his limiter when his brain became 100% cognitive! The weird part was that he had no side effect so far for using his body. Must be because of his ability.

Not only his brain but his entire body has broken the human's limiter!

He finally felt like he could achieve the dream that he shared with billions

"HAHAHA!!" Another barrage of crazed laughter ensued from Lan. Mom, dad, sis, I'm not fucking useless! And just you wait world! I will become the champion of champions! The Grand Champion!

"But first… Time to get something to eat. And then whoop some asses. Wait no, test my physical abilities, get something to eat and then whoop some asses. Yeah, something like that.

=============================

500 years ago, the first man emerged with an ability which gave him speed as fast as light making him the first champion. A title so prestigious that only 20 in history have ever gained the title. In fact, 10 of whom is currently alive in the present.

Currently, Lan was running across the City of Light, the birthplace of Grand Champion Light and The city where Lan was attending school. Grand Light High school.

Lan was going almost 500 km/hr with no sign of fatigue.

A recent study showed that after humans gained ability, they could only use 1% of their physical strength and the average adult could run at least 100 km/hr. But most adults had bracelets that restrict their physical prowess. Lan was no exception but he lowered to restraint to 0 while testing his abilities and it was a joke to say he wasn't impressed, and happy.

"Shit this is amazing!" Lan yelled he blasted past a few people. The skinny black electronic bracelet on his left arm was blinking red warning that the limiter on his bracelet was turned off.

Lan tested everything his brain could think of. Superhuman strength? Check. Night vision? Thermal vision? Enhanced perception? Check, check and check! Lan knew that the human body was capable for so much more but there was a reason why their bodies were limited! It's because we couldn't handle the strain of its entire usage. That and using 100% of your muscle would result in paralyzation. He would have to look into that later. Or maybe not?

In the midst of exploring his mental capabilities, he felt a slight headache coming. "Damn it I'm so stupid! My brain is still a humans brain! Just because I unlocked its full potential doesn't mean I'm immune to headaches!" Lan turned back the bracelet limiter that he had put on 3% usage meaning he was even weaker than average without his ability. The average human had their bracelets at 5%.

Lan raised the bracelet until it was working 100% of its capabilities but he found that he could still run 100 km/hr.

Getting back to his high school dorm, Lan went to his room that he shared with one other student and collapsed in bed. It was 3 am and needed a well deserved sleep. Thank god it was summer vacation.

========= 12:27 pm the next day

Lan jumped up from his bed when heard a chair moving in his room. An instant wave of lightheadedness hit his brain making him collapse on his bed.

"Well looks who's finally awake. Dude you can't just come home at 3 am. You woke me up asshole."

The guy that just called Lan an asshole was named Ben Gonald, his best friend and perhaps only real friend. Ben, just like Lan was a child of one of the Seven Living Treasures, Lily Gonald. Lily is the strongest esper on the planet and the principal of Grand Light highschool.

"Yeah, yeah whatever man. Ima freshen up, give me a minute." Lan waved Ben off as he slowly walked to the washroom.

The dorm room Ben and Lan shared was big, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 living room, and 1 kitchen. It appears that Lan didn't actually sleep on his bed like he thought but on the couch in the living room. And may have been a bit too loud when entering the apartment.

Brushing his teeth, washing his face, then taking a good well needed shower, Lan came out of the washroom as good of a state he could be in the moment.

"You were in there for an hour, as usual." Ben said as he read a book in the living room.

"What can I say, I like showers." Lan said as he looked at Ben.

Ben was 17 like himself. He had short curly black hair, 6 feet tall and was kind of a nerd. He was also black. But he was a fairly good looking guy. As long as he took control of his appearance and started to care about it.

Lan sat on the other couch and asked Ben, "Hey what you reading?"

"Oh nothing, just a book called GONE." Ben replied.

"What's it about?" Lan said.

"Do you really care? Or is there something you wanted?" Ben knew for a fact that Lan never read a book in his life. Well at least that he knew of. Or Seen.

"Oh nothing, I'm going to go buy a new toothbrush, want anything?" Lan said getting his car keys and wallet.

"Get me a Wonderbar. Love those things" Ben said as a toonie floated to Lan. Ben inherited the same powers as his mother. Just on a lesser grand scale. Which was reasonable because his mother had 40+ years to master her powers while he had 17. He had a long way to go until he's as strong as his mom.

Lan opened the door but just before he closed it, he made sure Ben was making eye contact with him and said "Oh yeah I broke the showerhead, mind fixing it?"

"What!" was all Lan heard as he slammed the door shut.

The reason Lan was buying a new toothbrush is that he accidentally snapped it and the same thing happened when he pulled the shower head out trying to adjust it to his liking.

=======================

Lan was walking in the direction to the grocery store where he usually buys his toothbrushes and couldn't help but be in awe about his new perspective of the world. He just felt like a huge restraint that was holding his body snapped and he was finally free to do whatever, whenever.

He confidently walked down the sidewalk with the roads beside him bustling with traffic. He did have a car but honestly, it would probably be quicker if he walked around the city.

"Damn I feel good." Lan thought as his confidence was noticed by others.

Lan's confidence gave other people the feeling that he was of high standing in society which was in fact true.

Lan first destination wasn't the grocery store but to Walksman bar, where his sister and Gabe, the tall teen that beat him to near death yesterday was planning to meet up.

It took Lan a good hour to walk from his dorm to the bar and the first thing he noticed was that wasn't a bar but a club.

"What a weird name for a club." Lan said.

Lan noticed that the club looked extremely exclusive, probably meant for high society but he did notice that a line of people was waiting outside just to get in.

Clubs were usually active at night, no one goes to clubs at day time. Lan wasn't dressed good enough to be let inside and his face wasn't really well known to the public, thanks to his family's vast connections.

"Well, I may as well try," Lan said as a crazy thought went through his head.

Lan sped walked towards the club door that a bouncer was guarding.

"Woah Woah buddy you can't come in here. Go change and wait in line like the rest of these guys." The bouncer said blocking Lan's way with his huge arm.

"DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?! I COULD GET UR ASS FIRED IN A SECOND." Lan fanned his face with both his hands acting like he was trying to cool his face.

The bouncer's serious expression turned into a nervous smile. All the people waiting in line were children of rich people. But none had the balls to make a commotion in front of the club.

"W-Who are you then?" The bouncer nervously spoke.

Lan took an exaggerated breath in and said, "I AM… TOGUL MOGUL! THE PSYCHIC HIRED BY LECTER TO ENTERTAIN TONIGHT! NOW IF YOU WON'T LET ME IN RIGHT NOW I'll BUTCHER YOUR CAREER RIGHT HERE." Lan yelled at the bouncer. Luckily the bouncer seemed slightly stupid so the bouncer let him in without asking much more questions. Lan was especially lucky when he overheard a guy in the line saying the owner's name to a girl that he may have been trying to impress. Saying that he knew the owner personally and what not. It was clearly not working to impress her because why the hell would they be waiting in line if they knew the owner of the club?

Lan walked into the club, music blaring. The inside was completely dark except for colourful lights shining everywhere.

"God damn that actually worked? What an idiot!" Lan thought as he walked in the club.

The Line outside was huge, it would take hours for the last person in line to get in, which meant that his sister's friend had a spot reserved for instant access in the club. He just had to find out when they were coming.

Lan scanned the club from the entrance. Dancing floor... the owner wouldn't be there. He was probably in a room exclusive to himself and his guests.

Other than the bartender, no other employee was at the bar so he couldn't find the special entries list there.

Dj booth? No.

As Lan scanned the club, someone hugged his back. "Come on sexy~ Lets find a room or something." She leaned closer to his ear, "I'll show you a good time" She said as she smirked seductively.

She was drunk. Lan wasn't too upset that this girl hugged him. She was pretty hot. Model level hot actually. But he was still a virgin and he had priorities today. Gently pushing her away, Lan left her.

The drunk girl pouted, stomped her left foot and left the club. Seemingly giving up finding a guy. It was too early anyway.

"Who gets drunk at this time?" Lan thought but let it go.

Lan continued looking around the club until he found a woman talking to another employee while holding a clipboard. Bingo.

Lan walked towards the girl and purposely bumped into the girl holding the clipboard.

"Oh, I'm so sorry! It's just so damn dark that I couldn't tell where I was going!" Lan said while he grabbed the clipboard with a list of special guests written on it. It wasn't a long list, consisting of only 15 people. Seven of which were 3 of her sister's friends and Gabe and his brothers.

It only took a second to memorize all the names on the list.

"Again, so sorry." Lan said as he gave the clipboard that he 'picked' up for her back to her and left the club.

They were meeting at the club at 7 pm, times didn't change but now he had 3 suspects. One of who was working with Gabe.

"Wait a minute. When Emily called me, she said that a friend just told her that she booked a spot at this club. Meaning it was only one of the girls that were coming. And before Emily hung up on him so abruptly, she was in the middle of saying sorry to someone that started with the name Reb." Lan thought for a moment before remembering a name on the list, "Rebena Walksman. That explains why they were able to reserve a spot in the club, she probably the owners daughter!" After deducing who the accomplice was, Lan laughed out loud, scaring people around him.

"Holy shit!" Lan yelled. He had never done anything like that. Creating a flawless persona. Memorizing something when looking at it once. Having perfect recall of his conversation with his sister. It felt amazing!

"So this is what it feels like to have an ability huh?" Lan said to himself, his signature natural contagious smile plastered on his face. Perhaps this was normal deductive reasoning. But for Lan, a certified idiot. It was something that felt great to him. He felt smart.

"This is amazing!" Lan yelled as he ran slowly to a supermarket buying a toothbrush, and something else for later.
