And so that's what happened. Almost immediately after their fifth birthday, he sent them out on the streets. There was a reason that he waited for their fifth birthday; because there was no legal binding to the kids after that time.
This was actually good for the two. They lacked basic necessities while at their fathers home. Food was a maybe, and the clothing changed every other year. With them growing into "adulthood," they could work and gain experience in jobs. Although no one would hire them for anything good, they could still get some very low wage at a charm factory.
Charms were in high demand, so the factories who produced them were always looking for workers, because there was way more usage for charms compared to the makers.
