Chereads / Misfortunate Princess / Chapter 7 - Binding Magic

Chapter 7 - Binding Magic

I was in a school building, surrounded by girls wearing uniforms.

One girl, with jet black hair, was reading a book which I could not make out.

"Duke Ashington may be hot but damn, he's an ass! He brings his ex girlfriend and their daughter into his home after his daughter legit died and expects his wife to be okay with it and then, she leaves him and dies later on!" The girl said.

"Yeah but, we never got to know much about Shahira except for the fact that she mean to Ellie and her mom. So it's forgiven since Ellie is the main character. The writers probably wanted her to have a full family, right?" Another girl said.

"I get that, but don't you think Shahira is a bit pitiful. Her daughter dies, she finds out her husband had another kid with another woman and her son takes his father's side when she's mad about it. If I was her, I would have destroyed him!"

The conversation went on and on in my head until something completely snapped.

In my mind my mama and Shahira overlapped for a moment. Two women, betrayed by those they loved and then done away with without shame. I was disgusted. My face didn't contort but my heart did and it darkened with no shame.

I couldn't breath for a moment.

Ah...

My heart began to break and my mind began to darken. It wasn't fair. I wouldn't let this happen. Not in a million years!

Something felt like it was changing within me. The devil may care attitude implement and perfected by Cecilia from before was like cracking armour now and something more real began to emerge.

Hate.... no.

It was pure rage.

My mind raced for a moment as I looked over the papers to see if there was someone, anyone, I could conspire with. Anyone who could save me and in turn, Shahira.

My fingers drifted and my eyes moved at lightening speed, just brushing over the names.

"Marquess Fritz and Ariadne Fritz..." I said as I touched the names with my thumb.

That was it...

Marquess Fritz was a noble man. Full of pride. He had no sons, just a single daughter, Ariadne, and he was happy that way. She was his pride and joy. The only problem was that he spoiled her like crazy.

If I remembered correctly, Ariadne fell in love with the second prince when she was young and so, she became hostile with Ellie during the course of the gameplay, causing many things to bad happen to Ellie but those were mostly indirect.

She became engaged to the second prince during the time that Ellie and the second prince were falling in love.

And thus, she became the villainess in the school scenario...

Ellie and the prince separated for a while, but by some stroke of luck for Ellie, the first prince decided to take Ariadne as a bride instead.

Though this was more of a problem than a blessing... She had died on her wedding day due to assassination. But before that, she used her expertise in water magic and strategy to win them the sea battles when war eventually broke out...

Recalling this, I felt my heart clench again.

This truly wasn't fair. Ariadne, Shahira and I... why did we have to die? For the sake of Ellie's happiness.

No! I didn't want this, to Hell with protecting Ellie!

Why would I even protect someone like that anyways?! I have no responsibility towards her!

I wanted to scream this, but suddenly, I felt a searing pain near my throat. Like a wire wrapping around and around it, causing me to be unable to breathe.

I touched my neck and felt it radiating heat. My anger was still there, and my thoughts were still clear and so, my neck continued to burn as my throat began to parch.

"Shit." I muttered under my breath.

This was problematic.

I tried to clear my mind for a second and then I turned to Loki. He was my most trusted ally, the only person who never betrayed me...

I didn't quite remember what happened to him in the game, after Cecilia's/my death, and I didn't know why he wasn't there to protect me but I knew that if someone were able to help me it would be Loki.

I touched my neck once more.

With the change in what I was thinking about, my throat stopped hurting.

"Hey, Loki..." I said slowly, my throat still stinging a bit.

"Yes my lady." Loki answered steadfast.

"Binding magic... how do you get rid of it?"

Loki paused for a moment and then he came to look at me in the eyes. His eyes flashed red for a second.

Loki: "What happened?"

"Nothing..." I said without thinking.

"You're lying." Loki said immediately.

I sighed. "I think I accidentally used binding magic on myself."

"How? Who are you bound to?" Loki asked quickly, like a concerned guardian. His eyes shinning a bright red.

"...Dad." I said in a low voice.

His eyes became reder and reder by the moment.

"How did that—" Loki started but I couldn't allow him to continue

"Stop. I'm not going to answer anymore questions. And stop using you powers on me, didn't I tell you to never use that on me again? Just because I lost my memories doesn't mean you can do whatever you want!" I snapped.

Hearing this, Loki paused for a second. He then smiled at me. "I'm sorry, my lady."

I shook my head.

"I know. I understand. But trust that I'll tell you everything when the time is right." I said quietly. Then I put my hand on his. "You're the only person who I would trust with my secrets."

Loki smiled softly, then he nodded.

Loki: "There are normally only two ways to break a bind. The first, fulfil your promise, and the second, is... to kill the person you made a promise to."

After saying that, Loki paused for a moment and then, I looked at him closely, waiting for the medley of information which would come after the basic facts.

I always thought that Loki had a beautiful mind.

Loki's mind was like a library of information. Never ending, overarching and always willing to have more. It was amazing.

Loki: "Though there are other ways. In the Leocadia and... Mein empires there are still wise men and women who have mastered their magic but they don't involve themselves in state affairs. These people are usually strong enough to break a binding without rebound."

"If you want to find them," Loki touched his collar. "Be on the lookout for a pendent."

Loki then took on of the papers on the table and a pencil and drew on the back.

"It looks like this." He said as he handed the paper to me.

I looking at it with interest. It was a circular coin with a symbol which resembled a family crest on it.
