Chapter 10 - That Damn Rodent Again

Watching Yoshi running up and down the pit in a zig zagging motion, the others were still a little unconvinced. But the thought of sparring with this monster for training? They would rather try their hand at the training regime than walk to their deaths.

Grimm picked up the shield that was handed to him by Kane and proceeded to do his one hundred sets of boulder pushing.

Seeing that everyone was going to try out the training, Kane became a little more daring in his experiments. He was gonna try out a training method he saw on a film once. He even tried practising this method himself back on Earth, but he could never do it. Maybe he could achieve his dream here?

Kane picked up an egg and clenched his hand around it. He walked up to a boulder and with the egg in his clenched hand he punched out. A lightening quick fist hits the boulder dead centre but nothing happens.

A split second later the back of the boulder completely explodes leaving just the front intact.

Everyone was just as surprised as Kane was, but Kane kept cool and collected. He handed the intact egg to Al "You have a lot of strength, but you waste it. You need to learn to control your strength and only use what is necessary. I don't expect you destroy the back of the boulder. Your task is simple, punch the boulder as hard as you can without breaking the egg in your hand. Do it one hundred times with each hand."

Al was determined, if he could learn this technique that Kane is teaching him, would he get stronger? Will he be able to reach Kane's Level? The only way to find out was to try.

"Thor, Wyn, you two come over here."

Kane motions for Thor and Wyn to the other side of the training area. With the massive bag in hand, Kane proceeds to pour all the feather sticks on to the ground. Feather sticks is a wood like stick that weighs just about the same as a feather. Hence the name Feather sticks.

"Your training is simple, Thor will create as many ice balls as he can while Wyn shoots them down using his bow and these feather sticks."

"How will..."

Before Thor could complain, Kane interjects "It's either that or we could go a couple of rounds?"

Thor quickly shuts his mouth. He then proceeds to summon ice balls en mass and have them float in front of him.

"Oh by the way Wyn, if you can destroy all of Thor's Ice cubes before he can regenerate them, then I will lighten your work load tomorrow. As for you Thor, if Wyn manages to hit all of your ice cubes, your training regime will double tomorrow, followed by a sparring session with yours truly."

Kane walks away as he lets that threat linger in the air.

Cold sweat slowly drips down Thor's forehead as he quickly increases the pace of conjuring his ice cubes. But he wasn't the only one having trouble. Wyn was finding this task even more difficult.

The feather sticks he had to use were far too light to be suitable arrows. In order for them to even fly with some stability, he had to inject some of his fire energy into the feather sticks.

But here is the tricky part: If he puts too much energy into the stick it would explode, but if he doesn't put enough energy in, the stick wouldn't penetrate the ice cubes. He had to focus the flame energy into a single point in order to create enough damage to break the ice.

Looking around at everyone training diligently, Kane was satisfied. Though he had no idea what the outcome of his training would be, he was sure that at the very least, these guys would get a little stronger.

Kane then proceeded to train his own way. He tied the heavy metal ingots onto his ankles and wrists. He also tied them around his chest and back to create a sort of crude body armour.

After he tied on at least 500 kilograms of weight, he then picked up a long piece of rope. He wound the rope around his hand and starting skipping with it.

Kane focused on keeping his breath steady and his heart rate low. Because of his intense focus, Kane didn't realise that a vague red mist was slowly being emitted from his pores. He went into another trance like state, and whilst skipping, he moved from focusing on his breathing and heart rate to changing the rhythm and tempo of his skips.

Clack, clack, clack....

Soon a melody was slowly forming from the clacking sound of the rope hitting the ground.

The others who were training were soon alerted to what was happening over where Kane was.

Sometimes Kane would just alternate feet for the skips, but other times he would do a double skip on one foot, creating a unique rhythm.

To an average person, it looked like Kane was just skipping using a rope. But to these warriors, it seemed like Kane was dancing on the spot. His entire body seemed like it was in prime position to pounce in any direction that he needed.

The unique rhythm that he was jumping in was slowly influencing them and making them fall into his tempo. A strange feeling of falling into a quagmire slowly befalls on everyone on the training ground.

"Is he being enlightened?" Stunned, Al wasn't sure how to handle what he was seeing.

Enlightenment was not something that could be sought after or taught. It is a unique state that very few lucky warriors may stumble upon once a millennia. Enlightenment could be triggered in different ways. Some spend decades meditating; some achieve it in the midst of battle; some achieve it by spending their whole lives accumulating knowledge; and others would gain inspiration from nature. Regardless of how it is accomplished, one thing is for certain, every time some one becomes enlightened, his or her powers would skyrocket to unimaginable degrees.

While Kane was in his enlightened state, though the others were shocked an envious, there wasn't much they could do. This monster was going to be even stronger once he wakes up. The others went back to what they were doing.

Unbeknownst to them, when they went back into their training, they were slowly influenced by the melody of Kane's jump rope.

Their breathing relaxed, and their heart rates slowed to a crawl.

Yoshi who was struggling to control the strength of his pebble kicking, realised if he followed this rhythm in stepping and kicking the pebble, it was a lot easier for him to manage rather than just running at it with all his might.

Grimm who was up to his 8th boulder also realised that if he paced himself and follow this tempo, he might be able conserve some strength and manage to finish this ridiculous task.

The others quickly realised the benefits of this strange tempo and quickly tried to assimilate it and incorporate it into their training.

While they were training, one by one, different coloured mists slowly escape from their bodies. Thor had an icy blue mist with a tinge of metallic silver coming off of him, while Wyn had a brownish red flame like colour. Al had a pure earthen yellow mist and Grimm had a forest green one mixed with a mustard like yellow. Yoshi's one was a little strange. His one was like a ying and yang symbol, one white and one black, not mixing together but co-existing.

While everyone was in their semi-enlightened state Omega, who was throwing the rocks Grimm brought up from the pit, was petrified. In his eyes he saw Kane going into enlightenment then he started glowing, all of sudden the other five warriors followed closely behind him and started glowing as well. Six warriors going through enlightenment all at once? Omega almost dropped the the boulder on himself when he saw this occurring.

Not daring to make too much noise, Omega kept throwing the boulders down as he was instructed. A strange yet calm silence enveloped the training space. The only sound you could hear was the clacking of the rope against the floor.

After about two hours of training, there was sudden explosion of white and black mist in the giant pit Al had created. Everyone was awoken abruptly from their semi-trance.

When they looked over into the pit, they saw Yoshi floating in mid air shimmering in and out existence. A black and white mist orbited Yoshi like he was a deity.

"Did he break his second bloodline limit?" Thor and Wyn looked at each other in shock and quickly ran over to where Yoshi was.

When the two arrived, Al, Grimm and Omega were already standing at the edge of the pit.

"Did he.." before Thor could finish his question there was light crunching sound right next to him.

Al who was standing to the side looking into the pit had crushed the egg he was holding in his hand. He looked into the pit with both envy and a sense of hope glimmering in his eyes.

"It's only been two hours and the Night Walker has already broken through? What would happen if we were given more time? Will I break through as well?" Thought Al as he kept staring at Yoshi.

After about ten minutes, the mist subsided and Yoshi slowly began to descend. When both his feet finally touched the ground his eye's slowly opened.

In his pupils, a swirl of black and white light could be seen.

Yoshi let a heavy breath and looked at his hands.

Suddenly Yoshi's whole body glowed as he released both his bloodline limits. His body vanished from where he stood and two identical Yoshi's could be seen standing next to each other about a hundred metres away from his original position.

"ARRRGHHHHH!" Both Yoshis let out a ferocious battle cry as they keep blinking in and out of existence.

They both moved so quickly that the others could barely even catch their shadows.

"He really did it." Stunned Thor's mouth was so wide you could fit a watermelon in it.

But just as Yoshi was enjoying his new found powers, an angry and sorrowful roar came from the other side of the training ground.

"WHO THE FUCK SHAT ON ME AGAIN! TELL ME WHO DID IT! WAS IT THAT FUCKING RAT! WHEN I GET MY HANDS ON YOU, YOU WILL WISH YOU WERE NEVER FUCKING BORN!"

As curse words flew out of Kane's mouth like bullets and echoed through the training ground, a sudden stench quickly assailed everyone's noses.
