Bella arrived at work. Zane had already left for the day so she started her cleaning. Today she would need to change the sheets. So that meant more laundry.
Zane watched her all morning and could not take his eyes off her today.
She wore a yellow sundress that made her soft brown hair shine. He wanted to run home and scoop her up. The one taste of her a few days ago was not enough.
When lunch time came he rushed home. She had made chicken pot pie. This was the first time ever eating such a simple dish and he was surprised how good is was.
"You need to make this again. I really like it." He said.
"Sure it very simple." She smiled.
"Dinner tonigt?"
"I can't tonight. I promise Bret to have dinner with him. We usually do it on Friday nights but his work is having a party so we're doing it tonight."
Zane was upset now at her spending time with her brother instead of him. He rushed back to work without a word.
As he watched her the rest of the afternoon his temper got out of control. No one could do anything right.
Bella made him steak and potatoes with a garden salad. She even made a creamy pudding for dessert.
He decided not to come home tonight and went out with some friends to get drunk.
Bella went out for noodles with her big brother. She loved spending time him.
That night she started a new story.
◇◇◇♡♡♡◇◇◇ HANSEL AND GRETHEL
Once upon a time there dwelt near a large wood a poor woodcutter, with his wife and two children by his former marriage, a little boy called Hansel, and a girl named Grethel.
He had little enough to break or bite; and once, when there was a great famine in the land, he could not procure even his daily bread; and as he lay thinking in his bed one evening, rolling about for trouble, he sighed, and said to his wife, "What will become of us? How can we feed our children, when we have no more than we can eat ourselves?"
"Know, then, my husband," answered she, "we will lead them away, quite early in the morning, into the thickest part of the wood, and there make them a fire, and give them each a little piece of bread; then we will go to our work, and leave them alone, so they will not find the way home again, and we shall be freed from them."
"No, wife," replied he, "that I can never do. How can you bring your heart to leave my children all alone in the wood, for the wild beasts will soon come and tear them to pieces?"
"Oh, you simpleton!" said she, "then we must all four die of hunger; you had better plane the coffins for us."
But she left him no peace till he consented, saying, "Ah, but I shall regret the poor children."
The two children, however, had not gone to sleep for very hunger, and so they overheard what the stepmother said to their father.
Grethel wept bitterly, and said to Hansel, "What will become of us?"
"Be quiet, Grethel," said he; "do not cry--I will soon help you."
And as soon as their parents had fallen asleep, he got up, put on his coat, and, unbarring the back door, slipped out. The moon shone brilliantly, and the white pebbles which lay before the door seemed like silver pieces, they glittered so brightly.
Hansel stooped down, and put as many into his pocket as it would hold; and then going back, he said to Grethel, "Be comforted, dear sister, and sleep in peace;God will not forsake us." And so saying, he went to bed again.
The next morning, before the sun arose, the wife went and awoke the two children.
◇◇◇♡♡♡◇◇◇
Bella arrived at the penthouse to find the food still on the table. It was a shame to waste such delicious food. She cleaned up and when she went to the bedroom found it had not been used.
Bella took out her phone and called Zane's secretary.
"How may I help you?" she said.
"Is everything alright Zane did not come home last night?" She asked.
"He is in a meeting right now. I'll check and have him call you."
Since no one was here there was not much cleaning to do. Bella decided to wash the window.
She worked hard then stopped and made lunch. But Zane still did not come home.
She went back to the window and at four called his secretary again to see about dinner she did not want to waste food again.
"I told him you called. He seems to be in a mood today." she said.
"Can you check on dinner. I hate to make something and have it set out all weekend." Bella asked.
The secretary put Bella on hold for a very long time. So she just hung up.
What was going on? She went ahead and made a cold supper that would stay in the fridge then wrote out how to serve it. She waited around in hopes of seeing him. But he did not come home.
He had turned the cameras on a few time but ended up angry turning them back off. He did not understand what he was feeling.
She had to walk a few blocks to get to the bus stop and on the way she was attacked and hurt. As she lay there on the ground she pulled out her phone. She could not see who she was calling and it just so happened to be the secretary.
"Help me please." was all she could say.
"Sir I just got a strange call from your housekeeper. All she said was help me."
Zane pulled up his phone and watched as his beauty left the building. He then tried calling.
"Hello" A strange voice said.
"Who the hell is this? Where's Bella?"
"If this is the young lady you are calling she is being loaded into an ambulance. She was attacked and is in bad condition." the man said.
"What hospital?" Zane yelled.
He was given the information and now he hated himself. He should of been there. Why was he so mad to start with. He knew she had no way home tonight.
He rushed to the hospital. He filled out the paperwork for her stay and called her father.
"How is she?" he asked the Doctor as he come out of the room.
"She has a broken rib, a slight concussion, cuts and bruises on her face. She put up a hell of a fight. But she will recover with time."
"Can I see her?" Zane asked.
"Go on in, she needs to stay awake for a little while longer so keep her talking."
Zane walked in. Bella looked like hell. He would never forgive himself for this.
"Hi" he walked over and took her hand.
She turned away. She did not want anyone to see her like this.
"I'm sorry, I should of been there." He sat careful on the bed.
