Chapter 3 - Chen SyaoRan

"Jiang Ai Yue, don't you dare run away!!" Chen SyaoRan scolded her.

Hearing her childhood friend's angry voice, Jiang Ai Yue didn't run but didn't turn back at him. She really didn't want to see his angry face and listen to him scolding her.

"Turn around and look at me." His commanding voice almost echoed. She hesitated but followed him.

She finally looked at this godlike man who's eyes would shoot bullets at her right now. Jiang Ai Yue stood like a frightened rabbit in front of him.

If she could choose, she'd rather have her three brothers scold her altogether than this man in front her right now.

Chen SyaoRan have always been scolding her ever since the second time they've met 10 years ago. At first glance, you'll quickly realize he was a cold person even when he was still a child. At 11 years old, he would often stay away from people and ignore them whenever they try to talk to him. At 19 years old, he grew even colder after spending seven years in the army. Now at 21, he is famous as the Winter Director of LuChen Group of Companies.

But for Jiang Ai Yue, he's like the strictest dad she never had. Thank goodness for that.

Upon that fateful meeting in the forest 10 years ago, they met each other once again under their parents' supervision. She was so surprised when she discovered that she was the grandson Grandpa Chen kept talking about. A few months after that, she realized that it wasn't a fateful meeting but rather, a tragic meeting.

Every time she hangs out at the Chen Residence to visit Grandpa Chen, Chen SyaoRan would also be there. And then he would bluntly tell her how stupid she was for not being cautious to strangers, or the mistakes she had on her homework, or after tripping on a rock and tell her clumsy she is. It was an endless scolding that she almost threw a party when she learned SyaoRan would be away to go to the army.

When she grew up and he returned, the scoldings lessened considerably but it was still there. Though, it really got scarier because his scolding became a bit more aggressive after he became a soldier.

"Did you steal the car again?" He questioned, though it was almost like asking for affirmation. They were now sitting inside the car and the partition was pulled up so that the driver couldn't hear our conversation. Ai Yue could see the look of pity the driver occasionally threw out at her from the rear view mirror.

Jiang Ai Yue lowered down her head and prepared herself for the incoming scolding. "...yes. I'm sorry."

She heard him sigh so heavily like he thought that it was an unavoidable event.

"Forget it. Let's talk about it later. First, remove your jacket and exchange it with this." He continuously gave instructions at her while he took off his custom-made coat suit and handed it to her.

Jiang Ai Yue almost jumped up from happiness when he said to forget it but her happiness balloon popped when he said she was still going to be scolded later. She wanted to throw his suit at his face but thinking if he suddenly kicks her out of the car because of it, she stopped.

Following his orders, Jiang Ai Yue took off her cold jacket and wore the suit which instantly warmed up her arms that almost froze from the cold night wind. Then she proceeded on fixing her hair and make-up that became messed up when she walked for almost 20 minutes.

Half an hour later, the car stopped momentarily in front of the towering gates before driving inside. The driver finally stopped in front of the large double door.

"Wait." Chen SyaoRan told me before he got off the car. Jiang Ai Yue saw him go around the car and open the door at her side.

He offered his hand and helped her get off the car. They finally walked through the door, arms linked together.

"SyaoRan, Little Ai Yue, you've finally arrived!" A man's voice echoed across the room and quickly strode towards our direction.

"Brother Min Hao, Happy Birthday!" Jiang Ai Yue greeted Li Min Hao, one of SyaoRan's best friends and the heir of Li Technologies. Ai Yue have known SyaoRan's best friends for more than 7 years as she's been under their monitor when SyaoRan was still in the army. Technically, they're like his subordinates who probably reports Ai Yue's misdeeds while he was away.

"Thank you, Little Ai Yue especially for your wonderful gift." Li Min Hao replied as he offered a glass of champagne to Chen SyaoRan. He accepted the glass while he moved his hold onto Jiang Ai Yue from her arm to her waist.

"It's nothing when compared to SyaoRan's gift."Jiang Ai Yue replied as she looked at the person beside her. She was well aware of how many eyes were watching them the moment they came in which were mostly females who are probably preying at Chen SyaoRan.

Being Chen SyaoRan's partner for almost every banquet that he'd attended, she was quite used to the attention she's been getting and Ai Yue expected that there's going to be another headline for tomorrow's news because of tonight's party.

Chen SyaoRan and Jiang Ai Yue stuck close together for almost an hour while mingling with the other guests which were mostly about business. Feeling tired, she excused herself and walked to an empty table to sit down.

She stared at the dignified Chen SyaoRan who kept his cold expression even while fighting with words with the businessmen who wants to get close to him, probably to attract his favor and help their companies climb up.

Everytime she sees this side of him, she often thought back how much he didn't change even when they were kids. Even if he kept scolding her, Chen SyaoRan is still the person she idolized from childhood. Jiang Ai Yue can understand why females are attracted to him, his looks are on a different level and to die for. He was basically a god walking on the face of the earth.

Jiang Ai Yue also thinks that he is very attractive and an ideal man to have a relationship with. But growing up with Chen SyaoRan, she saw him more of a brother than a potential partner. Despite all his scoldings, she knew he was only looking out to her and didn't want her to be in any accidents. She knew that it was for her own good that's why she stuck with him even though her ears almost bled and her feet wanted to runaway.
