She didn't realize this before but something had become obvious to her after running around the city with Ling Guan. She seems to be extremely...sturdy?
During their exploration, Ling Guan would occasionally stop to rest but she would feel full of energy. It's not that Ling Guan was physically weak, in fact, he had more stamina than the average person, it's just that Jia Li was abnormally...strong?
Back at their temple, Ling Guan watched Jia Li do sit-ups, push-ups, and run laps. No matter how much she does she never seem to get tire.
Suddenly, Jia Li wanted to test something out. She faced a tree and threw a punch at it.
"Crack!"
The tree easily snapped in half before falling to the ground, scattering leaves everywhere.
Jia Li stood there impressed with herself. Wow, and my fist doesn't even hurt.
Ling Guan sitting not far away: I revise my opinion of her. She's not a young miss but a wild ape?
"Ling Guan, is it common for people to be able to split trees with their bare hands nowadays?"
If her small body was capable of such inhuman strength then the heck could someone bigger than her do?
"My guess is that maybe your family have a lineage of strong physique. If that's the case then you're probably from some bigshot cultivation family or....." The General was also known to have an unusually strong physique. He heard that he had a son...
Ling Guan gave Jia Li a good look over. The clothes on her can be worn by both male and female but he had assumed that she was a girl based on her more feminine features. But...now that he was looking closely, it's possible that she's actually a male with pretty features?
"Jia Li..." Ling Guan looked unsure. "You're female right?"
What is going on in that head of his? His thoughts actually trailed off to questioning her gender?
"I'm a girl." She is 100 percent sure of this. "Also what's a cultivation family?"
"Where have you been living, under a rock?"
No, just in another world. \| ̄ヘ ̄|/
"To put it simply, a cultivation family focus on grooming cultivators in order to further strengthen their influences. As for what a cultivator is, well they are people who chase after a certain Dao in order to gain more power or lengthen their lifespan. Of course, not everyone can become a cultivator and truly powerful ones are far and few."
So people of this world can become stronger by cultivating? Jia Li became extremely interested by this fact. "Does that mean I have the potential to cultivate?"
"A stronger physique gives you an advantage during cultivation but whether or not you will be able to cultivate smoothly still depends on what kind of spirit vein you possess. To know what kind of spirit vein you have, you need a special artifact that tests for spirit veins. "
Since Jia Li can't test her spirit veins now either way, she decided to put that matter to the back of her head. She just had a great idea of how to use her strong body to her advantage.
"Ling Guan, I'm going back into the city."
"Huh why?" Didn't they just back come from it?
"I think I saw a for hire sign near the port for carrying cargos onto the ships. I'm going to apply." Naturally, now that she has the means to do so she should earn some money. After all, there are two mouths to feed and..... the uncles at the bun stalls were starting to get more vigilant.
----------------------------
The boss of the ship had on an amused face as he looked down at the small child in front of him. "Little girl, is this a joke? You want to work here?"
The height of the child in front of him was barely up to his stomach not to mention the thin limbs that were like toothpicks. Furthermore, although the child was a little dirty, he can tell from her smooth hands that she had lived a relatively pampered life. Probably the child of a rich family fallen on hard times.
The workers around them, all big burly man that seems to be made from the same mold, erupted in laughter as they lugged heavy looking sacks onto the ship.
"I don't have time to play with you. If you want to fool around do it somewhere else." Hmph, hiring a good for nothing like her would only bring trouble. She looks so frail she would probably be squashed flat under the weight of just one sack of rice.
Jia Li had expected this reaction. Looking around she saw the huge pile of rice sacks that no one had moved yet and walked towards it.
"Humph" With ease Jia Li lifted a sack with one arm.
The Boss and the workers all looked surprised. This girl she's stronger than she looks... "!!!"
Jia Li continues, using her left hand to hold the rice sacks while her right hand moved nonstop to pile on more. When the stack got higher than she could reach, Ling Guan would on cue accurately throw on some more.
"Uncle, am I strong enough to work here?"
".....Y-yes." What the hell did you eat growing up? Tell me, I want to feed my son that too!
The Boss ended up hiring Jia Li who alone could do the work of five men. It was very cost effective and Jia Li was a diligent worker so there was nothing to complain about, in fact at the end of the day The Boss gave Jia Li a small bag of rice along with a pouch that holds her wage and told her to come back the next day if she still wanted to work.
Jia Li looks into the pouch and saw murky blue and grayish stones with a unique mark in the middle. Is this the concept of money here?
Ling Guan who had been sitting on the side the entire time came up to her. As for why he didn't work? Well, look at Jia Li. She can do the work of multiple people without getting tire so why should he tire himself out needlessly? Plus, he was suppose to be blind and didn't have ridiculous strength or stamina.
Ling Guan seemed to have accepted the fact that Jia Li had really lost her memories along with all her common sense so he starts to explain without being asked. "These are low-grade spirit stones. There are about twenty in here and that can get you..... about forty meat buns."
Even back in her original world, Jia Li had never come in contact with money much so she didn't really have a concept of money. But forty buns sounded like a lot.
Thinking about it, it's probably wiser to just have Ling Guan manage the money right? Jia Li handed the pouch over to Ling Guang.
Her actions caused Ling Guang to give her another mischevious smile. "Aren't you afraid that I'll run off with it?"
"No." Not really. Jia Li noticed that aside from accompanying her to the city and finding food, Ling Guan didn't really like to go outside and preferred to stay inside of the temple. Anyways...even if he really did run she was pretty sure he can't outrun her. (゜▽゜;)
"...." Ling Guan accepted the money and used a palm to smush Jia Li's face. He didn't like the expression she was making, it annoyed him.
"Oh, and do you know how to cook rice?" Jia Li had never eaten it before was quite curious about how it tastes like.
"Sure I can." Don't you just boil it in water? He saw somebody did it once and it seemed easy. Er wait, don't they need a pot?
In the end, they dissembled a piece of metal from the deity statue's back and Jia Li worked it with her hands until it resembled a quirky looking container that served as a pot.
"You know that tree you cut down earlier today? Do you think that you can make a spoon out of it?"
How would you make a spoon? Can you even make a spoon with just your hands?
Jia Li tore a sizeable chunk of wood from the tree and found a somewhat sharp rock. She did her best whittling at the wood and when using the stone got annoying, she switched to using her nails.
She used up almost the entire tree but none of the spoons she had made came out quite like how it's supposed to be. They were all ugly so she randomly chose two and headed back to where Ling Guan was cooking the rice over a fire.
When the rice was done, they both used the spoon to scoop out some from the pot and ate in comfortable silence.
Jia Li sighed. This kind of life was nice. There was food to eat and life was straightforward and simple. She even had a companion to accompany her.
If would have been perfect... if only he was also here with her. The thought of living out the rest of her life and growing old without him by her side left a sour feeling in her chest. She had thought about this. If she had transmigrated then there's a chance that so had he.
Jia Li chewed on her spoon. If there's even the slightest chance, she will definitely find him.
