Chapter 2 - Chapter Two: About Me

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: It all started when my parents got divorced and shortly after my dad got remarried. Thus gaining a stepmother and two stepsisters. After that we moved to a different house here, in River Valley, Mississippi.

WRITERJOHNNY: Well, what a coincidence. We live here too!

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: What!? Really!?

WRITERJOHNNY: Absolutely!

CUTIEMAIDEN: We're totally not lying!

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: That's amazing!!!

CUTIEMAIDEN: Anyway, I'll bet it must be nice to have siblings.

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: Yeah, it would be nice if they hadn't have me left out.

WRITERJOHNNY: What do you mean?

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: They don't treat me like an actual sister. Whenever they do sister stuff, they usually do these things without me. Of course, in their defense, I am rather antisocial therefore practically wanted nothing to do with them. Nevertheless, even when I'm not being antisocial, they'd completely want nothing to do with me. They would play with each other's hair, go shopping, give each other a makeover and all that. And where was I? In my bedroom, surfing through the Internet. Whenever I ask if I could tag along, they would get annoyed. They're as close as Anna and Elsa from Frozen and who am I close to? No one because I'm just a stepsister. It actually makes me sick in my stomach.

CUTIEMAIDEN: Sorry you feel that way.

DREAMIRIS: This can't be. Surely at least one of them acknowledges you.

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: Well, Lindsay sometimes would want to hang out with me.

DIGIPYTHON: Who's Lindsay?

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: One of my stepsisters, she's the youngest. Sometimes she would come into my room and ask to play with her hair or watch a movie. Linda, the oldest, well, we rarely ever hang out.

WRITERJOHNNY: Why would she ignore you?

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: I don't know. I guess it's because she resents me because she used to be the oldest until my dad and I came in the picture.

WRITERJOHNNY: What about your parents? Do you get along well with them?

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: My Dad and I used to get along great but ever since the divorce and he got remarried we kind of drift apart.

WRITERJOHNNY: What about your stepmother? Do you get along well with her?

I bit my lips. I do get along a little bit okay with my dad, but Katie, my stepmother, that's a different story. Katie is, how should I describe her in a less harsh way, she's a bit of an aggressive stepmom. She tends to be rather short-tempered, especially at the smallest things. She tends to get a little bitey, especially when I do a wrongdoing. Then again, she's not exactly a bad guy. She's not as bad as Lady Tremaine from Cinderella.

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: It's complicated.

WRITERJOHNNY: Well, there's no such thing as a perfect family.

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: Yeah, you're right.

BOUNCINGMACAW: If it makes you feel better, I have trouble getting along with my family.

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: It does make me feel a little better.

CUTIEMAIDEN: What about friends from school. Surely you hang out with them.

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: Actually I'm a bit of a loner.

CUTIEMAIDEN: So, you're saying you don't have any friends?

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: I used to have friends back at Arlington, Texas. But after we moved here, I hadn't made any friends. Mainly because I grew up with my old friends. I find it rather strange to be making friends with a stranger.

WRITERJOHNNY: But you've befriended us. How are we any different?

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: I thought it would be easier to make friends online instead of in person.

DREAMIRIS: Despite the fact that you can't really see us except for our profile pictures?

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: Maybe if you tell me about yourselves, that wouldn't be an issue. And maybe we could arrange for us to get together to meet each other in person.

WRITERJOHNNY: That's a great idea! But let's continue learning more about yourself. How long have you lived here?

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: For about a year.

BOUNCINGMACAW: Do you like it so far?

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: It's okay. It's not Arlington let alone Texas.

DIGIPYTHON: What's it like in Texas?

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: Texas was like super hot, but it's not too bad. They got Rangers Ball Park and, oh, they also got this awesome amusement park called Six Flags over Texas.

CUTIEMAIDEN: Ohh, how fun!!!

DIGIPYTHON: What's your favorite ride?

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: The Gunslinger.

CUTIEMAIDEN: I heard they got a roller coaster called the Joker. Have you ride that?

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: Actually, not really.

CUTIEMAIDEN: What!? Why not?

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: I'm afraid of heights.

DREAMIRIS: Excuse you? You've just said your favorite ride was the Gunslinger.

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: That's because it's only 42 feet high compare to the Texas Skyscreamer which it's 400 feet high!

DIGIPYTHON: WHOA!!! I WANNA RIDE IT!!!I WANNA RIDE IT!!!

CUTIEMAIDEN: So you're saying you never ride a roller coaster at all?

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: Well I did ride the Mini Mine Train.

CUTIEMAIDEN: Lame. >:(

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: I also did ride the Judge Roy Scream s couple of times.

CUTIEMAIDEN: Now you're talkin'. :)

BOUNCINGMACAW: Is it fun?

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: It was. I used to go there every summer with my parents. We also did the Holiday in the Park events during the Christmas time. My absolute favorite was Fright Fest when it's October.

CUTIEMAIDEN: Oooh, fun!!!

BOUNCINGMACAW: You sure like scary.

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: Of course, I love horror.

DREAMIRIS: Sounds like those were precious times.

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: Yes, It is...But since my parents divorced, my dad got remarried and we moved out of the state, I don't think we'll ever go to Six Flags this summer just like how we used to. I don't even think I'll ever get to relive those memories.

I looked down and my hands slowly slipped away from the keyboards. Yeah, it was precious. I remembered how my family and I had a great time every time we went to Six Flags. In fact, I remember how my old home was a happy place until one day, when I was only in middle school, my parents started fighting. I can remember the time when they would start yelling at each other and I can hear them, even with my bedroom door closed. Then one day, when they decided enough is enough, they divorced. I know I should be relieved that that means I don't have to hear them argue anymore, but I can't help but feel sad about it. Shortly after Dad divorced my mom, he started dating Katie, who happens to be a colleague of his at work for many years. Eventually, a couple of years later, got married and we ended up moving out of Texas. That devastated me the most. That means I'll be leaving behind my childhood home, my friends and worst of all, my mother. I really missed my home. My eyes welled up with tears and I felt them trickled down my cheeks.

WRITERJOHNNY: Melanie? Are you okay?

I wiped the tears from my face, blew my nose with a tissue and continued typing.

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: Sorry. I started remembering life back in Texas.

WRITERJOHNNY: I understand. It must be hard moving to new place, leaving everything behind.

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: It was.

BOUNCINGMACAW: I used to move around from place to place too. But I eventually got over it.

WRITERJOHNNY: But you did gain something.

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: Like what? A stepmother and a pair of stepsisters?

WRITERJOHNNY: Well, that. But most of all, you've got us.

My lips slowly curled into a smile and stared at a screen as they started showering with kind comments. Emma even gave me a big hug through emoji. For the first time, someone has showed me kindness. My eyes began to well up with tears, but this time, they were happy tears.

"Melanie!" I heard my dad hollering from downstairs. "It's 10:00, time to go to bed! You've got school tomorrow!"

"Yes, Dad!" I hollered back, doing my best not to let him know that I was crying. I wiped away the tears and began to finish the conversation.

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: Gotta go. It's time for me to go to bed. I've got school tomorrow.

CUTIEMAIDEN: You know, it's about time for me to go bed too.

WRITERJOHNNY: In fact, we should all go to bed.

BOUNCINGMACAW: Good idea, Johnny.

DIGIPYTHON: I guess we'll talk more tomorrow?

WRITERJOHNNY: Of course, Benny. What about you, Melanie?

COMPUTERWALLFLOWER21: You bet!!!

CUTIEMAIDEN: Bye guys!!! Talk to you tomorrow!!!

CUTIEMAIDEN has logged out.

DREAMIRIS: It was nice talking to you, Melanie.

DREAMIRIS has logged out.

BOUNCINGMACAW has logged out.

DIGIPYTHON has logged out.

WRITERJOHNNY: Good night, Melanie. Pleasant dreams. ;)

WRITERJOHNNY has logged out.

I logged myself out of Jabberwocky and then turned off my computer. I crawled into bed and turned out the light on my lamp. As I was lying on my bed, my mind began to process what just happened. I've finally gained some fans, just like I've always wanted. And best of all, these fans are also my friends. I've finally found people who really like me. I was afraid at first, but after befriending them, I've started to feel confident. I'm glad I didn't turn down that invitation. I'm looking forward to my next chat with my new friends.
