Chereads / Behold Atlantis / Chapter 7 - City of Gold

Chapter 7 - City of Gold

What they had seen was absolutely incredible. Before them, lay the infamous El Dorado, but no book that was ever written about it has done it justice. The city was made purely of gold. Everything from the streets to the houses. In the center, lay a fountain of gold and quartz. It was wonderful, White and gold for as far as the eye could see. And the most important factor of all of them was that the city was indeed still populated, heavily. Beautiful people, all very welcoming. However, in the plaza, towards the corner, lay a beautiful monument. The plaza in which the monument was was named Posiden's Plaza. But where is Atlantis, where is Posiden, and how are they reaching each other? They didn't know, but they were determined to find out.

They went and ate from their rations and walked the city, where they were gifted clothes, trinkets, extra food, and water. They asked where they could possibly find King Chrysus, but many were unsure, as the location of his residence was kept secret for safety precautions. To the people's understanding, only high clearance officials knew the exact location of the King's residence. No one could say whether he lived in a palace or a large home, so no one dared call it that. Kokoro and Yuzu went off to search for these officials, better known as the nobles. They were difficult to find but they eventually were located. They asked to meet the King at his home. The nobles reached out to the king and explained what was happening. King Chrysus gave the OK and they were escorted to the residence. When they arrived they saw that the home was quite large but considering his status, rather modest. Just like in the city, his home was of solid gold, and spacious. Inside the home was the most beautiful and elaborate interior design they had ever seen. Pillars of marble, quartz, and jade. Beautifully crafted stairs with gold lining. Chandeliers of crystal. It was a literal dream home, surrounded by a beautiful garden with an elegant fountain. They waited for about an hour before Chrysus came out to greet them. Yuzu and Kokoro had already been in the house but did not want to sit without being told to do so, the king, when he noticed this, invited them to take a seat.

"Might I ask, who are you and what are you doing here?" The king initiated in conversation. Kokoro, responding quickly says, "My friend and I are adventurers and we have found something rather extremely interesting. Back in our time realm, we found a scroll, a map, and a key. As well as, a golden orb, and coins. The coins had you and Poseidon on them, and the scroll spoke about Atlantis and El Dorado being sister cities. We've come to discover what this all is and how we can travel to and see the lost city." Chrysus, astounded by everything, began to reply, " Your time? Map and key? Lost city? Young man, what is your name." "My name is Kokoro Jimenez, and my friend here is Yuzu Fernandez," Kokoro responded, again rather quickly. Chrysus then spoke again, "What do you mean by your previous statements? Why do you claim there to be a lost city? Where have you come from?" Yuzu responding now said, " We are from another place. Where we come from hundreds of thousands of people have died searching for the lost city of gold and the lost city of Atlantis. It took us by surprise how populated and prosperous the city is." "And the key you found, let me see it," Chrysus demanded, however, it was said with such grace it was inviting. When they showed him the key he was shaken. He could not believe that the key they had shown him was identical to the key he possessed. "Unbelievable, this is exactly like my key to the temple. How is this possible? Could it be you've come from the future and this key is, in fact, my key, lost with time?" Chrysus was amazed by everything going on. "How can we meet Poseidon?" asked Kokoro. "I could take you to meet him, but he won't meet just anyone. Lucky for you, he and I are close friends. I'll convince him to meet up and show you his city," proclaimed Chrysus. The night grew on them so Chrysus insisted that they stay the night. They were led down a hallway and told to share a bedroom that had been prepared for them during the conversation with the king. There were two beds, so they didn't sleep together, just in the same room.

When they awoke, they did not want to walk around the house without being given permission to, so they stayed in the room for a bit and discussed. "What do you think Poseidon really looks like?" asked Kokoro. "I'm not sure. But what do you think Atlantis looks like? Do you think it's underwater?" Yuzu replied, "Should we leave this room or should we wait until someone comes for us?" "I think we should wait," Kokoro answered. Not much time had passed since then when the maid came to get them. They were seated at the table where they were given a large meal. Excited, they ate their fills and went on to question the king on how they would get to Atlantis or How they would meet Poseidon. The king reassured them that it would be sooner rather than later and that all was under control. The King told them that Poseidon would be arriving shortly. Their excitement grew further, they began to imagine how the encounter would go down, and after about an hour they could see a silhouette in the distance. The time to meet Poseidon was closer than ever before. They were about to see the man stories were written about, and it wasn't a dream
