The days that followed were as bright as sunshine for Xander. He was already a very amiable person, but these days he had been smiling at everyone even more than usual.
He would also stalk Yera once in a while. He would show himself to her and act as though it was a coincidence that their paths crossed each other. As per Rui's advice, this tactic was to make Yera feel more familiar with his presence around her.
He was walking through the hospital corridor, holding his phone in his hand to look at Yera's photographs. They were all mostly stolen shots that he had taken while she was sleeping. He was too preoccupied with gushing over the pictures that he had failed to notice Dr. Yao, who accidentally bumped into him, spilling her cup of coffee on his dress shirt.
"Oh! I'm so sorry…" exclaimed Dr. Yao as she tried to wipe the spilled coffee on his shirt with her handkerchief.
Xander smiled and said, "It's okay, Dr. Yao. It's my fault… Geez, this is why it's bad to check on your phone while walking."
Dr. Yao's pretty face crumpled as she insisted that she was to blame. "No, no, it's really my fault. I forgot to wear my glasses…"
Xander winked and said, "Okay, this is not a competition. Then it's both our fault. Anyway, I'll be going now. See you around."
Dr. Yao smiled at him, but as soon as he was out of her sight, her face darkened. She took out her mobile phone and dialed a number. She instructed, "I need a dress shirt in Xander's size. Buy one from the store where he usually buys his clothes."
Xander proceeded to the private room inside his office. It was a room with a bed and a shower, which he used whenever he needed to rest. He typed in the password, went inside and had a quick shower.
"Hmm, why wasn't the coffee hot?" He realized when he checked his body for a burn injury. There were none. He dismissed the thought, guessing he was just lucky.
He was still smiling during his shower as the drops of water ran through his leaned body, washing away the stickiness from the spilled coffee. His thoughts were filled with Yera. He chuckled at the thought of his carelessness for checking on her pictures while walking around the hospital corridor.
Yera was already making her name in a short time, and it was due to her own capabilities. She performed a successful surgery on a patient that was transferred from another hospital. The doctors there refused to operate on the patient because they were not confident of the success rate.
But the patient survived and had been regaining her strength unexpectedly well. As a result, Yera became one of the most sought-after surgeons and had been requested the most for surgeries. Sooner or later, Life Hospitals group would try to poach her.
He was a very proud husband. He would often boast about Yera's achievements at work to his father during their breakfast together.
Though Yera was still acting cold toward him, but deep inside, Xander knew they were progressing well. She did not confront him about changing his name on her phone, nor did she change the name back. Furthermore, the expression on her face had become slightly brighter, even though she still talked to him in a straightforward manner.
He let out a sigh… He knew his feelings for Yera were only growing deeper… Rui was right. He was indeed hopelessly head over heels for his wife.
...
Yera felt a bit tired, and since it was her break, she would like to take a nap. So, she told Dr. Gong that she would rest for a while. But instead of going to the on-call room, Yera walked towards Xander's office. Xander had persuaded her to use his office when she needed to rest. He specifically said that there were ghosts in the on-call room.
Yera was not afraid of ghosts. But she still felt creeped out at the thought of them.
Neither Secretary Ness nor Assistant Ron was at their desks when she walked past the reception area of Xander's office. So, Yera went straight ahead to his room.
Xander had told her about the private room inside his office and explained how she could enter it. She pressed her palm on a specific mark on the whole-body mirror that was hanging on the wall in Xander's office and typed in the password that Xander had shared with her when a small screen appeared, asking for it.
Once she was inside the private room, she walked straight to the bed. She lay on the bed, with her body positioned sideways, facing the bathroom. The door suddenly flung open, and her eyebrows furrowed when she saw Xander emerging from the bathroom only with a towel wrapped around his waist.
Both of them were startled, and the towel on Xander's waist fell onto the floor.
Yera stared blankly at his manhood. Her mind was hazy due to tiredness, and she commented, "It looked a bit small, but I guess it's not a bad size..."
Then she turned around to face the other side and closed her eyes. "I'll sleep now. Please wake me up in an hour. Oh, next time, wrap your towel better," she mumbled drowsily before her breathing became heavy.
Xander's mouth was still open. He could not believe what he had just heard.
'It looked small? Not a bad size?' He mused as he looked down to his shy little buddy in between his thighs.
'Is she blind? How does this look small? Doesn't she know I have a bigger size than the average men?' He complained inwardly.
'Do all the male patients that she operated on have bigger size than him?'
Xander sighed… And yet he thought he was making progress… But what's with the insult she just threw at his poor little buddy down there?
"How come she could just say it like it didn't matter?" He still complained, as he opened the closet and changed into new clothes.
Then he stared at Yera, who was already peacefully sleeping. She looked a bit tired, and yet, she still looked like a sleeping beauty.
He took out his mobile phone and informed Assistant Ron that he would rest inside his private room for a while.
Then he looked back at Yera, and bent down to steal a kiss from her lips. But he abruptly paused when heard her speak, "What do you think you're doing? Do you want to die right now?"
Xander promptly retreated and walked to the other side of the bed. He sat on it and murmured, "Sleep. I'll wake you up after an hour… Darling."
