Chapter 22 - Setting up bait

Every once in a while, a certain fact comes to the light. When they were younger, the brothers were all different. Victor was, as stated by him, shadow of his brothers. For a while, it was only a statement, but now, everyone else sees why it was like that.

Raven is a tactical genius. In a few moments, he came up with a plan. Since Gravekeeper sent the behemoths to look for Siren, it would make sense that he can gather information through long distanced via a sort of a link. Considering that he stayed hidden for a long time would indicate he was hiding from someone, or he was trapped. To test if the latter one is true or not, they scouted the place where the behemoths last saw Siren, only to find it crawling with the growing Blight. It was more concetrated in some places, so something came there to leave those spots, or they occured randomly. Both options are possible.

"According to Raven's spies, the whole place is now covered in Blight. It writhes and slashes everything that comes too close." said Solara in her resounding voice.

"If he wants to capture her alive, the Blight would be a bad move, it would kill her on sight, he needs to kill her himself, otherwise, the link wouldn't form and he would die. What we are trying to do is to create such a distraction that it attracts him. He may be powerful, but he can't be all that powerful. He died once, therefore, he tasted death. He doesn't fear it, but since he is here even though he isn't supposed to be, he breaks a fundamental rule of Death. Which gives me more room to navigate through."

"So you can destroy him? It seemed like that is impossible if she is alive."

"While that is true, I don't think that would stop you, right brother?" said Victor who is now standing next to his masters side.

Raven looked at him and just smiled. "It would be too risky for all of us to go there, it would mean he has more souls to sense, he would realise it was a trap."

"So how many should go?" asked Vlad who is standing opposed to Raven.

"hmmm." Raven seemed to be calculating something. "Three. One is definetly Siren, the other would be her "escort." And last would be me."

"Why you?" asked Solara.

"If you haven't noticed, your highness." interupted her Snow with a deep distain in the last part of that sentence. "He is the only one who can actualy manipulate soul and knows the most about this enemy."

While that was true, the way she said it definetly stung Solara a bit.

"I volunteer to go too." said Victor with a big smile on his face. Well, bigger then usual.

"No. You will stay here. If anything goes wrong, you should protect the kingdom." said Siren with Luna simply nodding proudly. Almost like a proud mother, even though Siren is a bit older then her.

"I think we are forgetting one thing here." said Snow as she stuck the blade of her katana into the floor, which seemed to dissapoint Luna a bit. "While yes, Raven is independent, he is still stationed here. Siren is even the servant of one of your rulers, but my people are dying and I haven't done a single thing! I will go, not like you can actually stop me." as she finished, she leaned on the hilt of her weapon.

Raven grabbed his chin and smiled a bit. "Actually, that would be for the best. You do have the most mobility with your powers, plus you can take her with you, should things go south."

A moment of silence befell the room. At this point, that wasn't so rare.

"So...are we all agreed on the plan."

"You mean luring him and killing him? That's not a plan, that's an idea."

"Well. All plans are ideas, sometimes-" and Raven looked ad Victor. "You just have to improvise."

Victor smiled a bit and even tried to hide his laughter with his hand, it didn't work.

Nobody would have gotten that joke.

Raven DOESN'T improvise. He never did, not once, or ever.
