As expected, her face grew pale as soon as his voice dropped.
"That.....it used to be my....childhood nickname. Haha...how do you know about it? Why...are you asking so many questions anyway? It's not like we're in love and trying to get to know each other..."
"Remember what I told you." Lu Aotian said indifferently and loosened his grip on her wrist before going to his room and leaving her behind. She was lying to him. It was obvious from her reaction and everything yet he did not want to know the truth. He wanted to believe her.
Due to his former experiences, Lu Aotian was a very sensitive man and any tiny piece of lie was a big deal to him. He did not trust anyone easily and his trust was lost at the slightest provocation.
However, he had trusted his wife since he loved her so much and although her lies were obvious, had chosen to turn a blind eye on them.
...
"Time to make your move. Time is running out."
"Yes father." Wan Jia sighed.
'This is totally unfair' she thought.
It was already 11pm, Lu Aotian should be in his room. She quietly went to his study room and was shocked to see him typing away on his laptop. 'I thought I saw him going to sleep' Wan Jia almost fainted.
"You're looking for me?" This was a surprise! Ever since he interrogated her about her eyes, they had been in some sort of cold war and she had avoided him by all possible means. It had been two months already but the number of times they had seen each other could be counted on one hand.
"Yes....I couldn't sleep." Wan Jia lied, but her guilt was once again caught by Lu Aotian.
"Does my wife wish for me to sing her a lullaby?" He smiled.
Wan Jia was very embarassed and shook her head. "Accompanying me for a little while will do."
Lu Aotian instantly left his work and carried his wife to her room. Who cares about work anyway? The wife's sleep is way more important. Wan Jia felt even worse. Even after avoiding him for all that while, he still acted like she did nothing wrong and gave in to her demands right away.
He lay her gently in bed and did not withraw his hand from under her head as he used his other hand to pat her gently. Suddenly, she turned around ,wraped her arms around him and kissed him deeply. Who knew what she was thinking as she ran her hands across his chest and unbottoned his shirt with a slight sense of urgency....
Lu Aotian obviously could not resist such provocation from his wife and played along, though only letting her do whatever she wanted just in case he did something wrong and accidentally set her off again.
Before he could rearrange his thoughts, most of their clothes were strewn on the floor, the only pieces of clothing between them being their underwear.
At this point, Wan Jia looked at him shyly. He chuckled as he understood her look, it was her first time....
The next morning, Lu Aotian carried his exhausted wife into the bathroom and gently placed her in the tab. "Morning Mrs. Lu," he whispered seductively beside her ear.
Wan Jia glared at him. How was this a gentleman? She had greatly misunderstood. This dude was obviously a hooligan!
Lu Aotian laughed at her intense glare. "Is Mrs. Lu not satisfied?"
"You..."
Lu Aotian was all smiles. After three months of marriage, they were finally really husband and wife. How could he not be happy? He even looked like he wanted to throw a party.
The past two months had been hectic to him. Apart from having to deal with his mutant-rabbit species of a wife who always disappeared like a puff of smoke, he had got someone to investigate Yun Xuan and found out that she was currently in a different city. That went to say that his wife was not really Yun Xuan. The news had crushed him for weeks before he decided to forget it and forgive her, yet again.
To chose the path of becoming a substitute, something tragic must have forced her to do so. Actually, he was just so blinded by his love for her that he would definitely find an excuse for her in his heart even if she commited murder. He had chosen not to investigate her true identity, leaving it for her to tell him by herself.
So while he bathed her, he gently asked,
"Honey, what's your real name?"
Wan Jia was shocked and was about to reply when he spoke again "You've lied to me about everything since we met. Can you please tell me the truth,at least just this once?" His tone was lonely and sad. Wan Jia suddenly felt tears well up and they rolled down without any warning.
Lu Aotian was stunned and felt guilty that he had made her cry. He swept her into his embrace and consoled her.
"Baby, it's alright if you don't wish to tell me...don't cry,Forget I asked....I won't ever ask again...please don't cry, okay?" He was extremely nervous as he coaxed her like a little child.
It didn't matter who she was... She already had a name. A very suitable one at that- Mrs. Lu. Why did he even want to know her name? Was her name more important than her? It was her that he loved so what the hell was he thinking? He scolded himself for a while before he chose his words carefully.
" It doesn't matter my love, as long as it's you I love I'll simply call you....."
"Wan Jia." she interrupted him. "My name is He Wan Jia but I stopped using my surname some months ago." Wan Jia?Lu Aotian thought the name really suited her. If her parents gave her a name whose both sylabbles mean beautiful so that she would be twice as beautiful as she should have been then she really did not disappoint them. Lu Aotian nodded as he mentally connected the loose ends.
Wan Jia.... no wonder she had called herself Wanwan in her dream two months ago, as for the issue about her surname, her parents probably didn't die, disowning her would be the most possible reason for someone to drop a surname ....she was probably forced into a financial dead end which brought him to his second question.
"How old are you?"
"Turning 20 in a few months"
"...!!!"
Lu Aotian was so shocked he did not say anymore, simply kissing his freshly bathed wife and helping her dress up for breakfast.
19 year old wife? He suddenly felt like a bully ruining an innocent flower.
