I can feel that Elle just stiffened at the sudden closeness and I secretly smiled at that. When I removed myself from hugging her, she let out a shaky breath and I couldn't stop smiling. It was her first time!
"I'm sorry." I started apologizing and she shook her head and said, "No, it's fine. It is just that…" she paused as she tucked strands of her hair behind her ear and shifted on her weight. "I am not used to this." She continued, barely looking at me straight while fidgeting on her fingers.
I can sense that she was nervous so
I reached her hands and held them firmly, assuring her that it was fine with me. I was about to tell her the words but it was suddenly interrupted by her, saying impetuously, "Ok. To tell you the truth, I'm kinda nervous." and huffed.
A chuckle slipped from me. "You're cute, Elle." then I lifted my arm and caressed her cheek. "It's fine." I assured her. I took again her left hand and guided her under a small tree just meters away from Karina's house. I don't know what tree was that; it was small but has big roots already. It was enough space for us to sit.
We started talking about our first texts, laughed at the things we used to do when we were younger and realized how much we were missing each other.
When it felt like it was already the right time, I brought the tiny box out my pocket and saw Elle's bemused reaction as she gasped, wide-eyed.
I opened the box and brought a silver bracelet with dangling small image of the sun, moon, and heart.
It was an indirect message to her saying, 'Every night and day, I love you.' but for her to know what was the bracelet all about, I ended up telling her about its meaning.
"Thank you." she muttered, smiling at the bracelet then on me. After putting the bracelet, I held her hand and started fidgeting on her fingers which I hadn't realize I was doing until Elle cleared her throat as she bit her lower lip the motioned her gaze to our hands.
I began to stutter as I continued apologizing about my action and she just stared and smiled at me.
When maybe she saw that I have not moved on from the embarrassment…yet, she started snorting and said, "Silly… it actually felt good. I was just about to say it but you started apologizing." And rolled her eyes at me. There she goes. She became more comfortable as time passed by.
"Hey, lovebirds… try not to make a baby on your first date!" Two voices shouted in unison, coming from Karina's house and we can also hear their laughters.
"Shut up, you both!" Both Elle and I coincidentally shouted together and soon we stared at each other and cracked up.
Minutes elapsed and soon the surrounding was enveloped with silence. The only thing I could hear was Elle's and my breathing.
Our first date, if we call it a date, was more of an awkward moment. It felt like we weren't our total self and kinda messed it up by doing things a little clumsy.
Though we smile, laugh, and stare at each other, we knew that it was a bit awkward but it was fine considering it was our first time spending with each other.
I decided to spare a little time to walk Elle to their home and as we took our time walking our way there, I managed to clutch my fingers with Elle's.
She silently lean on me, making our bodies to get closer.
My breathing instantly leaped and my heart reverberated through my ear as cold sweat instantly formed on my forehead.
"Are you okay?" Elle suddenly asked.
Clearing my throat, I answered, " Of course. Why do you ask?"
"Nothing." smiling, she then replied and halted. "Oops. Here is my destination." She pointed on their house using her thumb.
We faced at each other and bid goodbye and good nights, but before she walk away, I asked for a goodnight kiss and she gave a peck on my left cheek.
"Is that all?" I challenged, waiting for a kiss on my lips. "Isn't it supposed to be here?" Teasing her, I pointed at my lips, and she snorted.
"Okay." She answered then the next second, her lips were on mine. It was so abrupt, I was taken aback for few seconds and the next thing I did stunned her.
