When Vixen dropped beside of him, Lowks startled a little. He had been deep in thought. He usually had no problem with keeping his focus when keeping watch but he was dealing with a lot internally.
Vixen looked a bit sleepy, with eyes half closed. She looked just a little bit defenseless and Lowks had to look away to try to rid himself of some intruding thoughts that he was trying not to have.
It was not a good idea to kiss her. Not even to make a point would Lowks dare do that to her. No matter how sweet she looked, or the fact that she was acting so willing about the whole concept of marrying him.
He could not find it in him to test those waters and see just how willing she might be. Taking a deep breath to focus himself, he turned to her with a smile, "So, where is Tira?"
He hoped she would be out here soon. While, it had been one thing before, this whole sudden concreteness of how he was supposedly courting this girl made him feel like they should probably not be alone. Lest he not be able to keep his mouth shut or his hands to himself.
She stifled a yawn. "She decided to patrol."
"Oh, really." Lowks was a bit annoyed with his sister now, "What is she trying to do?"
"She probably wants to give you time to 'court' me." Vixen glanced at him sideways, her sleepy look being replaced by a much more mischievous one.
"Anything you would like to talk about?" Lowks tried to change the subject.
Unfortunately, it did not really work. Vixen just grinned at him, "How about what we were talking about earlier?"
He frowned, "About how weird it would be if you wanted to marry my father?"
"What? No!" She looked at him with a disbelieving look on her face that made him laugh out loud.
"You are never going to live that down that you actually said that."
"Well, it's true! It would be weird. But there would be nothing weird about it if I liked you."
Lowks felt his heart skip a beat. But he tried his best to not let it affect him. She was not really meaning that she did like him. But there might be some hope for him, as she at least seemed to have genuinely come to a realization that the two of them were an acceptable match.
"Alright. Alright. What were you wanting to talk about exactly?" Might as well try to get a reading on what exactly she was thinking.
He turned to look at her and realized that she had scooted rather close to him. He had not even noticed but now that he had he could not get himself to tear his gaze away from her eyes. She did not have as innocent of a look on her face right now, and he could not help but wonder what was going through her head.
It did not take him long to find out. She gave him a sweet, almost seductive, smile and then said in a light tone, "About kissing. We really did not stay on that topic very long."
"Whatever is there to discuss on that subject?" Lowks managed. His heart had began thumping rather quickly and he had a sudden almost nervous but kinda excited feeling about that look she was giving him.
"You're right. There really is nothing to discuss," She laughed light heartedly and pulled away from him.
Lowks was not quite sure what had just happened. He looked away, not quite sure why he felt a bit disappointed. Had he actually been hoping that she would kiss him? Why could he not control his own brain, or keep from letting these feelings rise up in him? Even if she did come to actually think of him like that it would not be so quickly!
He felt her warm hand touch his, and without even thinking about it he turned to face her. And she moved forward, her lips landing on his.
They were every bit as soft as he had always thought they would be. Warm, too. And her teeth cut his lip as she fumbled a bit with trying to get him to open his mouth for her.
He did not really feel that much pain when that happened. It was more caught up in the fact that she had no clue what she was really doing. Which meant she had no real experience with this.
That was good. They could figure this out together. Whatever this was.
That was about as much as he could even think right now. And only from that bit of stinging pain that had woken his brain up for a moment from being shocked by suddenly being kissed by the woman he loved.
He was not quite sure at what point during that kiss that they managed to get it to be less messy and more like either one of them really knew a thing about what they were doing. Just that by the end of it, they were able to keep from accidentally cutting each other or clinking their teeth together.
Even after they had somewhat parted they still were very close together. He could not bear to pull away, and even if he could he was still somewhat dazed as he tried to get his brain functioning properly again. He was not sure why she did not pull away immediately. Perhaps she was a bit dazed as well.
She was the first of the two of them to pull back. Her eyes looked at him, a slight lilt to her lips as she said teasingly, "Huh, what do you know? Not disgusted at all."
"Did you seriously kiss me just to prove that to me?" He tried to sound annoyed, but it didn't quite work. The breathlessness he was suffering was making his voice come out a bit more teasing.
She leaned closer to him and smiled, her eyes flicking down to his lips. "You can take it however you wish to."
Lowks let his eyes drop to her lips as well. If she had started it there was nothing wrong with him continuing this, right?
This kiss was more relaxed and less chaotic. And still made him feel giddy inside.
And it was interrupted by a clearing throat. Lowks jerked himself back from kissing Vixen with a sheepish smile.
"So, you two have better had decided you wanted to get married." Tira grinned at them. She was getting way too much enjoyment out of this.
"Not quite." Lowks tried to keep a steady voice and for the most part managed it. Seeing a slight frown forming on Vixen's face he continued quickly, "We had not really discussed it."
As his sister opened her mouth, he grabbed her arm, and said quickly, "A moment?"
He pulled her so they could talk without Vixen overhearing them. "What?" Tira sounded confused.
"Can you stop? Stop trying to make us go at the pace you want." Before she could argue he held up his hand, "I plan to marry her, if she'll have me. But I want to propose myself. And I am not letting you take that from me."
Tira smiled, "Alright. I won't say anything about it before we get home. And good luck on proposing."
Lowks was relieved. And went back to sit by his Vixen again. She was being quiet. And now, he found himself really having difficulty focusing. He kept wanting to get another taste of those lips that he had daydreamed about for such a long period of time.
