Chapter 82 - Good Rest

It was still lightly raining when they set up camp for the night. Dawn listened to the muted conversations going on as they ate supper. There were quite a few, some people holding more than one at once, just with different people.

But it was all idle talk really, and Dawn did not find anything all that interesting in it. Nor did she have the energy to start a conversation of her own. She felt tired, even drained. The restless nights were starting to catch up to her.

As soon as all the after dinner chores were finished, she went towards her tent, ready to attempt to sleep.

A hand on her arm stopped her. Turning, she looked at Raven's smiling face.

"Tired, Dawn?" He turned his head away, "You haven't been sleeping well so it is only to be expected."

"Yeah." She shrugged, "It's hard not having him with me."

"Well, if you wait a bit, I might be able to help out with that issue." He withdrew his hand, "I noticed that there were some plants around that make a relaxing tea that should help you get to sleep easier. I think I remember how to make it too."

Dawn felt grateful at the gesture and nodded, and headed back. Raven had already harvested these plants, so it was mostly just a matter of boiling some of the water from the stream nearby.

It was not long before he handed her a cup, telling her it was ready. She did not hesitate to drink it, hoping that it would really help her to fall asleep faster and to stay asleep.

He took back the cup, a huge smile on his face, "Sweet dreams, my queen."

She mumbled a good night before heading and crashing on her cot. She was out in a few minutes.

That tea had helped more than she would have thought. Even making her sleep to be dreamless.

She felt far more rested when she woke up for her watch with Raven. He was already relieving the others from watch duty when she left the tent.

"Sleep well?" He sat down and patted the ground beside of him.

"Yes. Thank you. That tea did help."

"Good. I only remembered how to actually make it when I saw those plants. Sometimes its odd when I'll remember something."

She sat down beside of him, feeling relaxed in his presence. "Want to talk about it?"

He ducked his head, staring at the ground, "By that do you mean my memory?"

"Yes. I've been getting the impression that you don't really want to talk about it, but if you do, I'll listen. I want to be there for you. You mean a lot to me, you know."

His head raised and he stared at her. He bit his lip for a moment, and then took in a deep breath, "I don't really mind talking about it, I guess. I just have no idea what to say, really. Um, it is slowly coming back, and I, well, though I am still somewhat confused, I think soon enough I'll be good. Nothing to worry about."

She smiled at him, "I'm glad that you are remembering at least. What about your eyes?"

"…" A bit of a sheepish smile came to his face, "Good, I can see quite well now. Honestly, I'm only still wearing this cloth over them because I find it comfy. That and she said that they looked terrible and I haven't gotten a real chance to check them out, so… I would rather not freak anyone out if they are that bad."

Dawn felt relieved to hear him actually assuring her with a bit more detail. She had been worrying about her best friend.
