The bustling Jewel city was alive with noise and many people going about their daily lives. Aurelius blended in whilst locating a safe spot to check the scroll he received from that old man.
Stopping in a dark, secluded alley, he reached into his inner pocket and took out the ornate scroll which was a dark, inky, jet black. Upon further inspection, he noticed it was full of strange, exquisite markings and had a map embellished upon it in golden ink. In the center, it read, power sect and had an X on a spot nearby.
Also, Aurelius felt a powerful fluctuation from the fabric. Although it wasn't Qi, he suspected it was some form of superior essence. Wondering who the mysterious man was, he decided to travel to the power sect and obtain this treasure after gaining some funds.
After traversing the flashy Jewel City, he came to know of a popular form of entertainment in this world. It was basically where two people or groups fought each other either till one admitted defeat or, in extreme cases, died. Therefore, only the bravest, strongest warriors competed. In Jewel City, it was a popular form of gambling and an easy way of gathering quick money.
Aurelius hurried there and was greeted by a monumental coliseum, so grand it took his breath away. He wandered in. Bang. Crunch. Aaaargh. Instantly, he was met with horrific sounds of battle as a large fight between two men was in procession. Both were in a sorry state but one was clearly holding the advantage.
"Blue silver's got this. No sweat." One man claimed. There was a competition wearing blue and the other was in a white robe, stained with blood. Aurelius lightly said , "the one in white will win." Undermining him, the man snorted and mused to himself on Aurelius' inexperience.
After about 30 seconds, blue silver attacked powerfully with a sword slash. Without panic, the white-clothes man dodged, moving naturally like a flower in the wind. Then, as if he were a python, he lunged with ferocious speed and his blade pierced his enemy's shoulder. The fight was over.
Unsurprised, Aurelius looked away and asked the woman running the place if he could sign up. She was middle aged and wearing a revealing, tight training suit that accentuated her curves. " This is dangerous business. You sure you're up for it." "Yes" Aurelius replied seriously. The woman nodded and motioned for him to follow her.
She asked him for a few details then handed him a bronze badge. "The ranks go bronze
silver, gold, black gold, diamond and finally, legendary. What name do you choose?" Aurelius said"I am darkness." "Your first fight will be in 10 minutes. Choose a weapon and prepare." Aurelius nodded.
He was now in a room with many different weapons and armors. Faced with this decision, he decided to take a greatsword, which would compliment his strength and a mask which was pure black with eye holes.
A booming voice rung out. "Next match, darkness vs life seizer!!" Aurelius walked out into the stage slowly, climbing each step one by one. Guilt, anger and hatred surged through his veins and every fiber of his being was consumed by rage. The emotions he'd been suppressing after Maisy's death were all released in a towering wave. Silently, he eyed his opponent. He was very tall, scary looking and had a vicious look on his face.
Voices rang out in the crowd "Kill him life seizer." "This newbies got no chance!".
Without a care, Aurelius gripped his weapon a little tighter and prepared for battle.
"Begin!!!" The booming voice commanded.
Aurelius' enemy shot towards him, a deadly sword in his hands. Aurelius remained motionless. Life seizer shouted, "Killing Chop!" His sword came crashing toward Aurelius who now opened his eyes and slashed out with his greatsword. After hunting countless beasts his reactions and instinct were almost inhuman. His greatsword bypassed his enemy's weapon and cut his head clean off. Aurelius sheathed his weapon and walked off the stage.
The crowd was shocked. Mouths were agape. Continuing non-stop, Aurelius won 100 battles consecutively, and his code name, darkness became infamous as a murderer and unbeatable warrior.
