Chereads / The New Eternity / Chapter 14 - ‘Nudge?’ That was definitely a final attack skill!

Chapter 14 - ‘Nudge?’ That was definitely a final attack skill!

"Look, you seem to not be understanding something. Don't expect me to do this or that. I'm doing whatever I want when I feel like it. Don't even try to tell me what to do. If you do, I'll kill you." I growled.

"Al-Alright" she started trembling.

"Let's go back to Eric. He can also assign quests."

Meanwhile

"Hello, sir." Eric said bowing. Yes indeed. It seemed his boss Ingall had arrived!

"Give me the documents of the energy level in the past few days." Sadly, it seemed he hadn't caught Eric doing anything inappropriate. Unless you call sleeping during lunch break inappropriate.

"Sorry sir, but due to the fact energy crystals had been exploding these past 3 days, we have no data." Eric felt like pulling out his hair. Energy crystals to power their machines weren't cheap since they had to be of high purity for maximum affect. However, these pass few days, even the best energy stones they had on hand couldn't last longer than half and hour. A lot of money had been wasted in trying to fix the machines and using large amount of crystals to power just the basics such as the lights. Truth be told, all around the city, energy stones had been exploding leading to a mass panic. If not for only a small amount of people needing energy stones to power objects and the fact that spell formations could solve most of the problems a shortage of energy stones cost, there would have been a riot. After the second day, they had just given up. However, they amount they spent was astronomical and Ingall refused to use guild funds to pay for it under the guise of "how are your machines broken while everyone else's in the world are okay? Are you trying to swindle money?" forcing Eric to pay out of his own pockets.

"None at all? I think you need a deduction out of your next paycheck." Ingall smirked.

"Of course sir, my apologies." '**** you! How do you expect me to pay for all those crystals then! If it wasn't for the king suppressing me, I would have long killed you! Just wait a few years until he dies. Then all of you will pay!'

The orcan king was a strong warrior. He had inherited the berserker constitution and his level was in the mid 600s. Even though this did seem like a lot, without this much power as a base, the empire would have long been taken over by other races. How was he able to oppress Eric even though he wasn't anywhere near him? Simple. The royal family had a item called 'Filial descendent.' That only those with royal blood could wield. When one had it one, any orcan they targeted would automatically have their power halved as long as their total power didn't exceed that of the item itself. Using this power, the king had forcefully placed a seal on him similar to one which would be kept on a pet or slave to keep them in check. However, he was getting old, and with little time due to all the work he has to do, he hadn't been able to increase his level. Vitality potions would only work for so long.

"Then what do we have on the high power level?"

"We have recently discovered a large whole in the forest and that the animals in the forest where behaving erratically, killing each other and clustering together. Mercenaries have been set out to investigate, but they either come back empty handed or they never come back."

*Sigh* "Why are you so incompetent?"

Eric clenched his teeth hard and took a deep breath. As you may have inferred, they both had hatred for each other than had stemmed from long ago. Back when they were both youngsters going to school together, Eric had always been more talented, causing all the teachers to focus on him and neglect Iganll. All the classmates would always swarm to Eric to kiss up. As one would expect, Ingall became very jealous. But as he had been weaker than Eric back then, he couldn't do anything. However, things were different now. With Eric being unable to level up due to oppression and him having a better position and more resources than Eric, his strength had shoot up and he did everything he could to push Eric down further.

The door fell open (like off it's hinges) and I walked in.

"Who are you! What are you doing here!" Ingall stood up and demanded.

"Hi turd face." I said and then turned to Eric "we need a mission scroll to escort Elis to Charn."

"Turd face?!!" Ingall bellowed. As someone of high standing and with the powerful backing of the mage guild, almost all orcans knew his name and bowed before him. Even though his talent hadn't been as great as Eric's, he was still quite talented compared to the masses. Anyone who dared to insult him had died of "heart attacks" along with their families and friends. This had caused everyone to be fearful of him. Not only was this the first time he had been insulted in years, afterwards, the person who had insulted him had just ignored him! Understanding (or not) he sent a fire arrow towards me.

I would have dodged, but then Elis would have been hit, so I caught it and since the arrow didn't disappear, I cast some water magic on it (using magic spells doesn't mean using divine power since I learned it from a spell book. Of course my affinity to elements was almost infinite, so the power was thousands of times stronger, but affinity wasn't something I could change even if I tried.). Unfortunately, I underestimated the power of my spell and the pressure from the water blasted a hole in the floor and it went down as further then the eye could see.

Ignall stared at the hole in fright. The power of the attack was blatantly obvious. Not only did the fire arrow disappear like nothing, the steam filling up the room made it clear how fast and how much pressure the water held to generate that much friction. Using some quick math, to generate a spell of this caliber as he was now, it would take over 50 years of energy accumulation and tens of times of magic control as he had now. To be able to generate it instantly and without breaking a sweat, Ignall knew he stood no chance against him in a fight. Not to mention how he had caught his arrow! How was that even possible! Knowing that he had offended someone powerful, he immediately kowtowed and started apologizing profusely. How could someone with such a high position possibly be stupid.

At the time, I hadn't known that he was insulted since "turd face" was what Eric always called him (at least subconsciously) so I thought that it was his name. If I had known I might have (most likely not) have gone easier on him. Alas, in my eyes he had just randomly attacked me. I "nudged" him in the ribs. Instantly, we could see a hole in the wall and him lying out on the streets. It wasn't until a second later we heard the sound of bones cracking.

Eric looked very conflicted. On one hand seeing his boss (half?) dead filled him with enormous glee, but on the other hand, if people found out that he had died here, Eric would be blamed and them who knows what would happen to him. If it wasn't for his master and his aristocrat friends speaking up for him back then, he wouldn't even have this job or maybe even his life. If news of this ever got out though, it would be impossible to be spared this time. Ignall had the mage guild backing him! A guild so powerful, it could even cause wild beasts to shiver in fear (or that's what the legends say).

Eric tried rushing to his side, but I stopped him. "Mission scroll." I said getting impatient.

"Bu-But he'll die"

"Mission scroll."

Knowing he had no choice if he wanted to save Ignall and himself, he rushed to right a mission and stamp it. Eric then sprinted towards his side, cast a levitation spell on Ignall and summoned a wind spirit to carry them to the hospital.

"Let's go then, Elis."
