Chapter 76 - As Long As I'm Around

"Christa!" Rose tears up in joy. Finally, someone came to her rescue.

"What? What's with this girl?!"

No matter how hard the black armored knight of Kruule pulls his sword, Christa's grip won't let it loose. Instead, she crushed it bare-handedly.

"Impossible... the magic sword..."

In the end, the man relied on his fist to attack Christa. But, the girl with the crimson eyes effortlessly avoided his fist and used that opening to hand chop the back of his neck, knocking him down in the process.

"I see. So not everyone has them." Christa muttered to herself.

"Are you alright?" She turned to Rose afterwards.

"Yeah." Rose proceeds to wipe her tears and gave a smile of relief.

After confirming Rose's well being, Christa suggested to get out of the Inn and go to the central district.

"Can you walk?" She asked.

"Yes." Rose nodded in response. "Let's go."

The two walks out of the Inn and goes to the street and sees knights of opposite sides clashing left and right. What's more, another group of black plate armored knights are charging in from their right.

"There's still more huh." Christa uttered. She thought she should take a move and get rid of the barging knights.

"Christa?"

Christa turned to Rose who called her. There she realized her main priority is to get Rose to a safe place. To a place far from the vanguard of the battlefield.

"Sorry, please give me a moment." She told Rose.

Christa walks a few distance away from Rose.

"Hey!"

She calls out to the knights charging in. Unintentionally, the others who are fighting paused from swinging their swords.

Their attention was caught by Christa. And when they look, an ominous crimson red eyes were glaring at them. Her glare brought an unbearable fear. Not just to the Kruule knights, but to the knights of Reilaea who stared at her as well.

As a result, people were knocked out in fear, some shrieked in terror while their legs were ravenously shaking and couldn't get out of the same spot. Others managed to run away in pure horror, but no doubt her eyes that asserts her horrifying bloodlust traumatized them.

"Ah... I didn't mean for the others to look. Ah well." Christa turns around and walks away from the knights who passed out.

"Eh..."

Meanwhile, Rose was speechless as to what happened in front of her. Suddenly, people lost consciousness while others ran as if they've seen the thing that they fear the most.

"I think it's better to just fly to the central district."

"Fly... Wai-! W-what are you doing, Christa?!"

Christa approached Rose and proceeded to lift her up, carrying Rose like a princess. She answered, "Grab tight, we'll go see Raiha and Reika."

Before she could argue to make Christa put her down on the ground, Rose felt that Christa's feet are no longer touching the surface. Rose quickly wraps her arm around Christa's neck as they rise above ground and buildings.

Reaching the right height, Christa flies forward, heading straight to the central district.

While on their way, Christa and Rose sees a group of adventurers running the opposite direction down the road. While they encountered some of them hopping into buildings or flying over them using Fly Magic.

One of them called Christa and asks if Rose did receive any injuries or wounds.

"Miss Christa, pardon me for calling to you while you're on your way. That girl, does she have any wounds or fatal injuries? I will heal her for you." She offered, earnestly.

Christa can feel that the girl really wants to help by healing Rose who's in her care, so much that she wants to accept her offer. But knowing Rose's well being, she answered.

"Thank you, Rose is fine. I'm just taking her to the central district where her family should be right now."

"Oh I see. That's good to hear."

After hearing Christa's answer, a young man called to her.

"Hey! Don't stop, keep moving!"

"R-right!"

The girl says her farewell to Christa. "Excuse me, Miss Christa. I'll be going ahead!" She lowered her head in regard to the girl with the crimson eyes. The girl then went on her way, following up to the man and the others who waited her to catch up.

"We should have just walked, carrying me like this will make people think I got in some trouble." Rose suddenly argued.

"But flying straight to the central district would be faster." Christa opposed her opinion.

"But...!"

"Hey, you two!"

While they argue at each other, another voice echoed through their ears and it seemed like it was calling out to the two of them. This time it was a voice of a girl.. They turned into the direction of the voice, and sees the elven woman Christa met back in the neighborhood.

"Huh? You're the elf woman back then."

Lira, one of Sieghart's party member were floating in front of them. Although the way she keeps herself in the air is different. Unlike Christa who seem to be flying just like anyone who can normally fly in the sky, Lira looks like one of her feet is stepping on a floor that cannot be seen with the naked eye, it's like she's standing in the flow of air itself.

"Huh?"

Approaching her, Christa noticed Lira that she's really taking steps on the air, just like a normal sprint on the ground.

"I thought she's just standing in the air, but she can also walk from it."

"Take this."

Lira held her hand on Christa to give her three scrolls of paper she's holding. Rose noticed that Christa's hand were occupied carrying her and so she decides to take it for her.

"What's this?" Christa asked what's inside the three scrolls to Lira.

"It's an emergency quest made by the Adventurers Guild and the Queen in their alliance. Take it and you'll be rewarded by helping to defend the Kingdom. You can give the other two to your party." She answered. "And... sorry." Lira added.

"Huh?"

Confused, Lira tries to remind Christa what happened earlier.

"I'm sorry for what happened earlier. I shouldn't have raised my voice."

Christa finally remembered the time she and Lira exchanged words after what happened to Eileen right after their fight.

"I know that taking her down is the only way to stop her magic. But seeing her in that state... I just couldn't help myself after that. My emotions got the better of me. That's why I apologize."

Seeing her sincere apology, and the fact she only did that because she got worked up for the person she cared, Christa could not do anything but accept her apology.

"I guess that's what everyone's reaction would be if they see someone important in that kind of situation. You only did that because you really cared for Eileen, right? Eileen must be lucky to have someone like you. Please don't think about what happened anymore, it's all good!" Said Christa followed with a beaming grin. "I will go ahead. Until then!"

Christa slowly flies by Lira after bidding farewell to her. She thought Lira's business with her were all done, until the elf lady calls her once again.

"How about you. If you were to have someone in that situation right in front of your eyes, what would you do?"

Christa stops just as Lira gave her a question. She was unsure how to answer the elf woman. Selene, Itsuo, Titania, Aina. Everyone who she cares about haven't been in a horrifying situation like what happened to Eileen after their fight. At least not when she's around.

Though unsure what to do when she finds herself in Lira's position, seeing a friend in a horrible situation. Christa knows what she needs to do before a tragedy happens to every people who she knows and cares about.

"Uh... I don't know exactly what I'll do if the same thing were to happen to my friends or family. But... as long as I'm around, the same thing won't befall on them." She replied.

After that, a short pause occurred. Until Christa finally moves and goes on her way to the central district. Leaving Lira on her own in the air.

"I see. So you're the same as him. I wonder how long can you keep it that way."

Lira carries on and went to the battlefield, joining the rest of the adventurers, and Reilaean knights.
