A month passed since then, at the same day as Edle addressed the unknown monsters to the people.
"You want me to promote an Adventurer named Christa?"
Inside the room of the Guild Master in the Adventurers' Guild. Sieghart made an appointment to talk to the Guild Master along with the other four he was with.
"You mean the girl that was recently ranked up to Gold?" The Guild Master asked.
"Yes. The girl who had a red and black clothes, and crimson eyes." Sieghart answered.
Sieghart began to explain his opinion.
"She killed an Emerald leveled monster alone?!" The Guild Master staggered. "Are you serious? You're an old man now, Sieghart, so I would like you to not act a little immature and childish anymore."
"See? I told you, even the Guild Master sees you as an old man now." Lira cuts in, adding an insult to Sieghart.
He hits Lira's head before answering the Guild Master.
"Let's not take this conversation over to me. The truth is..."
"Actually, I'm the one who wanted Christa to be promoted." Eileen said, continuing Sieghart's words. "I want her to be promoted to Emerald rank."
"Well, I can do that if what she did really is true, defeating an Emerald level monster alone is quite rare." The Guild Master responded calmly before he asked. "But why would you go far as to tell me that she defeated a monster just to rank up? Is something the matter?"
"That kid is not normal."
"Not normal, you say?" The Guild Master were puzzled.
"That kid, when she fought and killed the monster, she was surrounded with an ominous aura. Red and Black. I can't tell what it all indicates, but I can feel that it was something similar to a demon's... No, it was probably beyond them." Eileen answered.
"Red and Black, huh? What a weird mix." Jinrah tilted his head in confusion.
"What's more strange is that right after she killed the Monster, the aura circling around her suddenly disappeared." Eileen followed.
"Oh, she can hide her power? That's pretty common right? At least on our level."
"You're wrong, Sieghart. It's more like it was vanishing on its own rather than her purposely hiding it."
"Vanishing? That's the first time I hear it." Sieghart were left confused with Eileen's words.
"So you felt that way too, huh?" The Guild Master suddenly spoke.
"Did you feel it, too, Guild Master?"
"Well, I couldn't exactly see or feel the aura lingering inside her, but when I evaluated her, I can tell that she's trying to hide her power, although it doesn't seem to be her own doing." The Guild Master replied to Eileen. And everyone were left with a lot of questions.
"In any case, this is the first time you saw a mix of two auras, isn't it?" David answered Eileen with a question. "If I remember correctly, you said the red aura represents Bloodlust while black is Pure Evil, right?"
"Yes. But those things that I saw and felt..." Eileen briefly paused as she saw Christa surrounded in Black and Red aura in her head. "I can't describe them as Pure Evil nor Bloodlust. I feel like those two represents something else, something beyond Evil and Bloodlust."
The Guild Master stood up before breaking the silence.
"So you want to promote her to a high rank to keep her in check?"
"Yes. All in order to keep her in check. If she's a killer just like a false ranker, people will know her name. If she has a different evil intentions, we can easily track her and take her down." Eileen answered in a serious tone.
"I understand." The Guild Master nodded. "I'll make her promotion happen, and I'll leave the task of observing her with you five, is that all right?"
And their talk ended with an agreement to watch over the girl that makes Eileen anxious.
On the present day, Christa, Selene and Itsuo had finished their meal.
"Thanks for the meal." Christa spoke with her belly completely full. "Man, Selene and her Mother is so good at cooking! All I know is how to roast raw meat."
"I'm glad you liked what me and my Mother made." Selene responded with a bright smile. "Speaking of cooking, you said you only know how to roast raw meat, didn't your teacher teach you how to cook at least a more simple one?"
"Well, she is the one who always takes care of the food we both eat back in our house in the Forest of No Return. So I didn't bother trying to learn it." Christa burped shortly with a contented face. "But I feel like I should learn how to cook some of them, especially now that I'm living alone."
"Forest of No Return?! Isn't that the the home of a lot of monsters? You said you and your teacher lived there?" Selene was shooked.
"Yes, so you know about that forest, too, huh?" Christa continues to casually relax herself on her seat.
"Is that how you got pretty skilled and strong? Fighting countless and different kinds of monsters in that forest?" Itsuo curiously asked as he did the same Christa is doing.
"Well, more or less..."
"Eh... I see. I shall teach you how to cook when the time comes, Christa." Selene took the emptied food baskets and dishes. "Then, I'll go back and clean all this."
"I look forward to it, Selene! I'm sure my teacher will be surprised once she saw me cooking." Christa also got up of her feet. "For now, it's time for me to go back to the city."
"I see. I'll be waiting for you to continue our training next time, Master!" Itsuo stood straight before the girl he called his Master.
"I thought we got through about this master thing?" She spoke with a dead tone.
For whatever reason, the two laughed at each other. Soon after, Christa took her leave and went back to the city. Unlike the days in the past where she could walk rather peacefully in the streets, due to Edle's Address that generated a buzz after revealing Christa's name, and the time she got promoted to Emerald, the people from the streets began crowding before her presence, watching her making her way from quite a short distance that Christa can almost hear them gossiping with a low voice.
"It's the Crimson Eye!"
"The rumors are true, she's really a stunning beauty!"
"Aside from her looks, she's also strong! She might even put a fight to the strongest Adventurer, Sieghart!"
"I didn't expect it to turn this way." Christa covered her head with the hood. "For now, I should get back to the Inn. I'm still hungry even though I ate what Selene made."
After passing through the road full of people with their eyes on her, Christa finally reached the Inn. She went in and took a seat in front of the counter, waiting for the innkeeper to come.
"Oh, Christa! You're back." The Innkeeper spoke as she approached Christa from the counter. "Are you done with the training with your friend today?"
"Miss Raiha. Yes, he's starting to show improvement to our training for a while now." Christa placed a 15 pieces worth of silver coins on the counter. "I want to get the usual, Miss Raiha."
"Usual, huh? Give us a few minutes." Raiha, the innkeeper took the silver coins and went to tell her daughter to cook. "Rose! The usual meal for Christa!"
"Yes!" A voice sounded from inside their kitchen responded to Raiha.
A few moments later...
"Here! A hot and freshly cooked stewed pork!" Raiha puts the bowl of stewed pork with a portion of rice in front of Christa.
Christa took the silver spoon beside the plate, poured some of the stewed pork on the rice, and she began to eat in a normal way.
"Hey, Miss Raiha, do you know any simple quest I could get?" Christa asked the innkeeper as she took a mouthful of rice and meat.
"You should ask that question to the Adventurers' Guild Receptionist, not me." Raiha continues. "And why just simple ones? Don't you want to form a party with your fellow Emerald Adventurers and take a good quest?"
"For some reason, I feel kinda lazy wanting to take that kind of quest." Christa continues to munch on her food. "A simple and easiest one would be fine."
"Here's your order!"
"Oh! Thank you, Little Reika!"
Christa finished her meal as a voice of a little girl caught her attention.
"Raiha, seconds please." Christa puts another 15 silvers on the counter.
"Alright!" Raiha took the pay. "Rose, seconds for Christa!"
Christa stares quietly at the kid, telling stories about her big sister to the customers.
"Hey, did you know? My big sister rose dreamed about something and it happened again!" The kid cheerfully spoke.
"Oh! That's nice!"
"Even when the giant bees who attacked the city, big sister rose dreamed about it, too! That's why when that attack happened, we immediately hide inside our basement. So we didn't get hurt!"
"Oh, that's great!"
"Christa, here's your seconds!" A sweet and warm voice of a girl spoke to Christa.
"Oh rose, you finally went out." Christa proceeds to eat the second portion of the meal she ordered. "Hey, Reika said you dreamed about the Wither Bees attacking the city, so you three managed to hide inside the basement."
"Ah, I don't know why I'm always dreaming about things that will happen soon, but because of this, we can prepare early on before something happens." Rose proceeds to dry her hands with a napkin.
"Amazing! That's like cheating when you want to see your opponents moves before they attack." Christa ate everything in a quick second. "Alright, that'll be enough for now. I'm going out."
"Oh, are you going to do a quest?"
"Yes. I'll be back soon."
