Chapter 5 - Fairy Tale (2)

The barrage of seeds continued to rain down on the group, and dust formed from the seed's impact with the ground. However, this didn't faze them at all, and they continued to stay hidden together behind a large tree.

"Alright, does anybody not understand?" Rocky looked at all of them.

"Um, could you repeat that?" Lola scratched her head. "I kinda forgot..."

Rocky banged his head against the tree in frustration, "I'll make it short for ya. Since you n' Arlo both have powers, you guys will be actin' as fire support while I face em head-to-head."

He then looks at Goomy, "This little green midget here will land the killin' blow on the plant guy, capiche?"

"Hey, that's uncalled for!" Goomy angrily cried out.

Lola giggled, "Okay, I got it now, big boss."

Rocky raised his fist, "Let's go kick his ass and show who's alpha!"

Arlo groaned, "You better pay us big money for this..."

Using the dust cloud as cover, Arlo and Lola sneaked away from the battlefield to their hidden positions. Meanwhile, Goomy hid within the shadows as he waited for the perfect opportunity to present itself. As Astrebore ceased fire, Rocky immediately charged forward with full speed. Rocky then aimed his magic pistol and shot multiple rounds at his neck. However, unlike last time, Astrebore quickly evaded them.

"Does he know about my weakness?" Astrebore thought to himself. "No, it has to be a coincidence."

Astrebore created another shield from his vines. He then rushed towards Rocky with his shield in front of him. Both of them were on a path towards a collision.

"Die human!" Astrebore yelled as he tried bashing his shield against Rocky.

Rocky quickly rolled out of the way, and fire a few shots towards Astrebore's knees. However, nearly all of his shots missed their targets.

"Damn, I really need to practice my aim," Rocky grumbled.

They locked in close combat as Rocky narrowly avoided all of Astrebore's strikes. Rocky bobbed and weaved from Astrebore's punches and ducked under from each kick. Astrebore was surprisingly slow.

"Is all that muscle for show?" Rocky taunted as he dodged. "You're slower than a fat boy with asthma."

Astrebore suddenly reached his left arm out, and vines rapidly extended towards Rocky. Before Rocky had time to fall back, the vines flicked his gun away and lifted him by his neck. Rocky couldn't breathe as the vines slowly tightened around his neck.

"You struggled pretty well, human," Astrebore smirked. "However, it ends here now along with your coward friends."

Rocky struggled to speak his words out, "That... ain't...happenin', nature freak."

As he finished talking, a barrage of fireballs and light beams pummeled Astrebore's body from two different directions. Astrebore instantly dropped Rocky as he closely shielded his head from projectiles. He slowly walked backward as he struggled to defend and dodge. A few fireballs managed to burn small areas around his body, while some light beams penetrated his skin. Rocky quickly retrieved his weapon and ran off.

"You sniving, foul-playing animals!" Astrebore roared in rage as he chased after Rocky. "You're not getting away from me that easily, human!"

Astrebore continued to spray devastating seed projectiles at Rocky. However, they narrowly missed him by a hair's length as Rocky weaved through trees like a snake. Rocky aimed his pistol and fired more shots at Astrebore to keep him occupied. Arriving at a dead end, Rocky stopped running and turned around to face Astrebore again.

"Nowhere to go, little human?" Astrebore slowly approached Rocky. His body regenerated back to normal, but Astrebore showed some signs of fatigue.

"Nah, man," Rocky sneered. "I just brought you to your graveyard."

"Huh?"

"Wood entrapment!" Arlo yelled as he revealed himself from behind a tree. Large branches burst from the ground and tightly wrapped around Astrebore's body.

"Do you really think this is going to hold me!" Astrebore yelled as he struggled to break free.

"Just enough," Rocky confidently replied. "But fun times over, nature freak. Sayonara..."

"...PEABRAIN!" Goomy yelled as he fell from atop of a tree above Astrebore. His knife penetrated through Astrebore's neck and cut into his life core. Astrebore howled in agony as his life force began to fade away.

"I...hate...you...all," Astrebore spoke his final words. His body slowly shriveled, and he finally collapsed on the ground. He left behind a shiny crystal gem after his death. Everyone let out sighs of relief and celebrated their victory with high fives and fist bumps.

"Whew..." Arlo wiped the sweat from his forehead. "My mana's all drained out. I need to take a breather."

"Did you guys see what I did there?" Goomy tried not to laugh. "I said peabrain, because, you know, he's a plant and all."

The electric collar immediate shocked Goomy, and he helplessly twitched on the floor with smoke rising from his head.

Arlo said with a grim face, "Don't make any more stupid jokes."

"Yes...master," Goomy moaned.

"Wow, we make such an awesome team!" Lola cheered and pranced around. "You guys were so cool back there!"

"Sayonara, peabrain!"She stood in a cool pose and laughed. "I have to add that one to a list of corny catchphrases when I'm fighting a monster."

Rocky picked up the crystal gem and closely looked at it, "Oi Lola, what the heck is this?"

Rocky handed the crystal gem over to her, and she began to inspect it with a magnifying glass. Everyone huddled around her in curiosity. The gem illuminated a dim white light as she inserted her mana into it, and everyone gasped in awe. The white light slowly disappeared when Lola cut her mana connection with it.

Lola's eyes beamed, "This is a mana storage crystal! It's worth pretty big bucks!"

"Big bucks?" Arlo's mouth salivated. "That's all I needed to here!"

Lola tossed the crystal gem back to Rocky, "This is yours. It's my thanks to you guys for helping me."

Rocky put the crystal gem inside of his pocket. He and Arlo would probably sell this later for cash.

"I guess that's that," Arlo yawned. "This fight got me a little tired. Let's head back home."

"Thank you again!" Lola waved goodbye. "I hope we can meet again!"

"Sure. Maybe we can go grab a bite to eat in the future, " Rocky walked away.

They all said their farewells, and the three of them left her home. They got into their van and stared at the empty road.

Arlo turned to Rocky, "So, what do you want to do now?"

"Wanna play some games?"

"Sure. Let's play Deathstreak this time."
