Chapter 768 - The Ark Of A Promise, Leaving On Our Terms

Everyone stayed silent as the Pillars looked to Mavislin for confirmation. Finally, the Valkyrie signed and shook her head.

"The likelihood of getting your body back is next to impossible. The King isn't having your body, so it is still somewhere. But even if you got it back, can you go back? Or, more importantly... What are you going to do afterward?" asked Mavislin, staring into Mordred's eyes.

"What do you mean, Lady Roydon?" asked the Knight of Rebellion as she shivered under the fierce gaze of the Valkyrie.

"Well, let's say that if it was true, the revived King was using your body and causing havoc. Would you like it back? And if so, what are you going to do about it? Camelot's gone for years now, so returning to your homeland is no point. Are you going to incite another rebellion here?"

"Because if you do, I will not hesitate to bring you down with your ideals," warned Mavislin as her eyes flashed red for a Tick.

Mordred swallowed a ball of saliva as she figured out what the Valkyrie was trying to say. Mavislin has got the point... Why did Mordred want her body back? Did she want to continue living on as a person? Or did she want to try living her life other than a Knight?

"Then how about Midori? You were called upon by a powerful Mage with the powers to summon Spirits of Legends, so don't think you can break the contract without consequences. And I doubt that you would abandon the fox child just like that... You made a promise, right?"

The Valkyrie's words cut deep into the Knight's heart as she realized how selfish her request had been. Mordred cursed as Midori wondered why Mordred was back facing her in their inner world.

"Why are you upset? Did Mother Mav say something that made you angry?" asked Midori, with her ears twitching.

"No, I'm not angry... But I won't deny that I'm upset. How could I ever think of such a selfish thing? You are only a child who had been broken from the experiments on you... So how could I think of abandoning you?" questioned Mordred as she refused to look at Midori.

"You're not abandoning me... You are just living in your own body again, right?"

The Knight of Rebellion widened her eyes as she whipped her head around.

"Huh?"

"Just because you're leaving my body doesn't mean that you are leaving me... You are just shifting to another house! We promised to fight together, but I didn't make any promises for you to always stay in my body... Besides, I don't think I can date anyone with you in my head..."

"Why not?! It's good always to have a second opinion..." argued Mordred, crossing her arms on her chest.

"My point still stands... I'm not against leaving my body, but I hope you will continue sticking by my side like best buddies. And even if we have to part ways, let's part on our terms, okay?" answered Midori, smiling as she stuck her arm out in a handshake.

The Knight of Rebellion erupted with laughter as she rushed to Midori to pick the small girl up, causing Midori to squeal.

"I am not going anywhere... I've always wanted a pet..."

"Hey! Watch who you're calling a pet!"

Mordred laughed again before answering the Valkyrie's questions.

"I don't know what I'll do when I get my body back, nor did I ever think that leaving Midori would kill her. I intend to stay by the child's side and fight alongside her. It's hard to grow up with another soul in your body so I'd wanted to give her body back. But..."

"I will not deny that I wish to have my own body to control without always fighting with another soul. However, for now, and for the sake of the Albion Domain, I will defeat the King with the Pillars," announced Mordred as Clarent appeared in her grasp.

"Hold your horses, Knight of the Round Table... We still have something to address. And that's how to get to the King's lair. As we've discussed, we found that the King is residing in an unfinished room within the now fallen Inifinite Experiment Facility in Albion," announced the Headmaster.

"Is that where we were being held? Where that cursed bag of flesh had tortured over a hundred people?!" asked Mordred, shaking in anger.

"Correct" was enough to send shivers down Mavislin's and the twin's spines.

The Valkyrie knew that the place wasn't fully purged since there were chambers further into the dirt, but she could confirm with the help of the clean-up team that there were no signs of life around those places. The twins held hands as the Spirits knew they had been through too much to return.
