"And when the kids arrived, that's where I couldn't take it anymore. I sincerely didn't mean to hurt that little girl!" cried the Knight of the Lake, burying his face in his hands in agony.
Mordred knew that she was supposed to be the bad guy and start talking down on Lancelot, but her gut feeling told her that wouldn't be appropriate if she needed to get answers from the Knight. After all, this was the only time that Lancelot had enough sanity to speak something.
"So that's why you broke your armor... To try to get out of the body you were shut in?" asked the Knight in red, glancing at Lancelot in pity.
"No... I broke it because I didn't want to be the Knight of the Lake anymore... I don't deserve the title after what I've done and become. And the King forced me to kidnap those young boys, but they just refused to come with me. I was filled with so much anger that I just... Killed them."
"How could I continue living with such disgrace?!"
Mordred sighed as she patted the Knight's shoulder.
"You were made to kill... So that isn't your fault. You and the rest of the Knights shouldn't be here anymore. It would be best if you were resting in the afterlife, not fighting in the physical realm. Our glory days are over, and we are just stories for future generations."
"Don't worry; no one will think you are a heartless monster. You may have that whole problem with Guinevere, but it doesn't matter to me. Although, I should thank you for the affair because I used it to bring the King down..." answered Mordred.
"What? How did you know about the affair? And what do you mean by bringing the King down?" asked the Knight, blinking in confusion.
"Ah! So you couldn't hear throughout the battle? I told you, I am Mordred Pendragon. The Knight brought down King Arthur in rebellion. I am with the Mages now, and I'm going against the King again. The new one that has been blackened by despair."
"Do you have any advice about defeating her?" asked the Knight of Rebellion as she summoned her armor and sword.
"Wait... Wait! Are you the real Mordred? Didn't the King revive you? Is that... Really you?!" exclaimed Lancelot, dropping his sword in shock.
"Yep! Pretty cool, huh? I'm a Spirit summoned into the body of the fox girl that you wounded earlier. So now that's out of the way, can you tell me anything about the King? Like, what the weaknesses or goals?" questioned the Knight, grabbing Arondight to pass to Lancelot.
"I could never hear what the King was saying, but I know that he isn't what we know from before. He feels like a tyrant, the opposite of our promised King that loved the common people. Instead, the King strives for disaster and wants to bring hurt to the people in this realm."
"I saw what he wanted to do, to purge the entire land of Albion to make way for a Utopia," explained Lancelot as Mordred handed him the sword.
The Knight of Rebellion nearly dropped the sword upon hearing that explanation...
"Is the King insane?! How can you turn the entire nation into something that doesn't exist?! Oh... Now you've got me riled up!" yelled Mordred as sparks danced around her figure.
"But that might not be true since I've read some of the plans the King went through the other day... I don't know if what my eyes saw was true, but it would seem that the King wants to unleash something into the world."
"The King and another man I've never seen were discussing something..." Lancelot explained, trying to dig out the memories.
"What was the thing that they took about?"
"Something about unleashing a race of beings called the Husks using the Corruption Element... Unfortunately, I'm not good with Magecraft, so I can't say much."
The Knight could feel Midori calling her back, so she had no choice but to cut short the conversation.
"Okay... Thanks for the explanation, but do you know the King's weakness?"
"I'm not sure... Perhaps something with the Light Element or... Wait!"
Suddenly, Lancelot remembered something important about the relationship between the King and Mordred.
"Your sword... And Avalon. From what I've known, both of these items were stolen from the King before he went into battle. So since he doesn't have them, the King might be weak to them. Those items should work... But I can't confirm," replied Lancelot.
"No problem, you've done a great deal in helping us. Don't worry; we will solve this problem and bring down the cursed King. If I did it once, I could do it again. See you," thanked Mordred as she woke up in the real world again.
