Mavislin sighed as she closed her eyes and recalled the events that led to the destruction and breaking of the Round Table. The Valkyrie knew that Galahad would spit out such a question.
"Magecraft can solve not everything... Even Merlin couldn't stop Camelot from ruin. If that were the case, I wouldn't be standing here and fighting you," replied Mavislin, with eyes filled with sorrow.
Galahad stepped back as he clenched his fists, trying to recall his memories to see if Mavislin was telling the truth.
"I understand that Magecraft can solve not everything, but it should have helped... Right? For example, Merlin was a healing Mage, so why didn't he heal the wounded soldiers?"
"Or you could have stopped the rebellion by fighting against them?" asked the Knight of Heaven as his hands started shaking.
Though the Valkyrie didn't say anything, the Knight's body slowly turned ash. She had no clue why it was happening but remained calm as she tried to comfort the Knight. But deep down, Mavislin knew nothing would work against a raging Knight.
Galahad may be the perfect Knight within the Round Table, but he also had a short temper regarding war and justice. Whenever he sees something is wrong, and no one is helping out, that gets his blood boiling.
"We could have done all those, but the aftermath would still be the same... Besides, I am a Mage, and that was an affair by humans. I had no right to interfere, nor did Merlin have anything to do with it. Throughout the years, this has always been the case."
"So you fight your wars, and I'll fight mine. Because if I have to save humans all the time by killing off the enemies, how much longer will, Humanity survive? Humans will never learn from their mistakes, and the cycle will always continue... So what's the point of me helping them?"
"Then you are content with watching us suffer?! While we drown in our demons and wallow in our sins... Your first instinct is to see us fall into the depths of despair?! Are you some monster?!" roared Galahad, slamming his foot into the ground.
Galahad was furious with the Tick as his Elemental Energy skyrocketed beyond Mavislin's comfort levels. The Valkyrie instantly backed off and summoned her shield.
Streams of purple and white Elemental Energy danced around Galahad's figure, with most of them converging towards the blade.
"There's no telling what would happen if I had interfered with the final battle. I've already helped out the best I could, and I saw the damage done... And I vowed never to help the humans again," replied the Valkyrie as she spun the shield around her body.
Before launching the first attack, Galahad beat her to it by trying to strike her shoulder. But because of her flexibility, Mavislin quickly blocked the move with the guard. The Valkyrie then jumped up and kicked the shield, making both weapons and Galahad fly away.
She then propelled herself to land behind the flying Knight, kicking him right in the spine. For a solid Tock, Galahad became a football for the playful Valkyrie before his sword started to glow with power.
"You said you were Mordred's steward... You were his friend, right? So why did you join him if you knew you wouldn't help us?! How is being in the Knights of the Round Table benefit you if you were only there to see us suffer?!" shouted Galahad, striking Mavislin's shield with his glowing sword.
To the Valkyrie's surprise, the strike was ten times more potent than the previous attacks, causing the ground beneath Mavislin to shatter. With the miscalculation, Mavislin needed to change her tactics.
"Tell me! What's the point of joining us when you couldn't help out in the end?!" shouted the Knight again as he spun around to strike the shield again.
This time, the Valkyrie had the quick reflex to move out of harm's way by making her shield vanish and rolling away. As she did, the Knight brought his sword down with the strength of an ox. Mavislin quickly punched the ground to hoist herself up and into the air.
While upside down, the Valkyrie was flying upside down and summoned her shield as Galahad chased after her. But the Knight of Heaven found himself in a pickle as Mavislin punched her shield downwards at Galahad. The man barely made it out alive when the guard smashed into the ground.
"I didn't join you to help to kill yourselves. I joined you because I was Mordred's friend! I wanted a family, and Mordred was the only one willing to help me! Besides, if you want me to help the humans by killing off their brethren, then I will gladly do so!" shouted Mavislin, rushing to Galahad.
