Chapter 718 - The Ark Of Mavislin Returns

"I don't know if it was the right call to make. In all my life, I never hid the truth from a dying person. So this incident is new for me since I have no clue if it was better to tell my enemy the truth or let him die with his lie. I've done so many kills, but I never did have a conversation with the victims."

"Sounds like you have a dilemma about giving mercy to your opponent by hiding the truth from them... But I'll let you know that you did nothing wrong, so there's no need to be so torn up about it. Sometimes, when the truth can't help someone, we should lie. No matter what the cost."

The Marksman looked down and away from the group while Rina checked on the twins to see if there were any wounds. The Valkyrie smiled and gently ruffled Ashley's hair, prompting the man to look at Mavislin's comforting eyes.

"If I were you, forced to be in that position, I would've done what you did. So there's no need to feel guilty about it. Let the Mage pass on with his lies and beliefs while praying that he would never get a chance to live a hell like this again," explained the Valkyrie.

"Alright, Lady Roydon. As for the other interference, you should know that Bryan and I were the mysterious force because Merlin the Mage of Flowers had visited us, and we fought against him. So Bryan went insane and started kicking Merlin everywhere," said Ashley, looking at the Slayer.

The Valkyrie turned to look at Ashley with disgust and shock.

"That thing... Is alive?! I thought his lover killed him?! That Lady of the Lake broke her promise?! What's he doing being alive and starting fights with my Pillars?! I made sure that he would never come near my family again, that two-timing fiend!" roared Mavislin, scaring the group.

The twins widened their eyes and hid behind Rina while she wondered why Mavislin was suddenly so angry. The Headmaster sighed and nudged the Slayer's side.

"You see how pissed off Mavislin is because of Merlin's antics? This happens if you get tangled with women and back out at the last Tick... So if you are going into a relationship, you better be loyal, or else you will have an angry Valkyrie sealing your coffin," whispered Gillian.

"You don't have to tell me about it... I know Mavislin's anger, and it could put me to sleep permanently if I'm not careful with my decisions. It makes me scared to go into a relationship upon seeing how Mavislin is so angry about Merlin being a two-timer..." replied the Slayer.

"Hell hath no fury as a woman scorned... Unfortunately, my wife is the same, so better be careful, dear boy," warned the Headmaster.

"Uhm... It was Bryan who threw the first attack, but... Ah, never mind... Let's head back and explain the details to you and get your side of the fights before we start hunting down the Flowerman..." said Ashley, quickly pushing Mavislin back to the Old Chapel.

The children said nothing as they followed the adults back into the house. Once they arrived at Gillian's office, the Old Chapel gave them all chairs to rest in, and Mavislin noted that Ysabeau and Z were still in the building.

"They can't leave until Baldwin is back, but their forces are already on ground zero and helping the Mafia take down the dolls. We still have no clue about Fabian's whereabouts or the rest of the Rogue Mages," explained Gillian, reading his book.

"How about Baldwin and his Knights? Wasn't there a complication in Teuton?" asked the Valkyrie.

"We haven't heard from him yet, but we've sent a good Mage to help him. Raiyen and Tomoe haven't returned either, but I'm not surprised since their target is unkillable in most scenarios."

As everyone took their seats, Mavislin titled her head to the side and looked intently at her Pillars.

"Before I continue with the Mission, I'd like to praise everyone for defeating their targets. And for the Marksman Pillar for surviving against two foes and helping out with the other First Seats. However, before I proceed on with my account against my target..."

"I'd like to know what Merlin was doing in the Five Domains and alive despite his punishment from the Lady of the Lake and my anger. Because that Mage isn't supposed to leave his confinement, let alone fight in this war and against you," started Mavislin, looking angry.

No, being angry would be an understatement. The Valkyrie looked furious as if she was going to slice the planet in half to find that Mage of Flowers. Luckily, Ashley was the one to speak up and told Mavislin about Bryan's fight with Merlin.
