Unfortunately, Midori knew what was Circe's tactic and released a hand from the sword to force her body to twist 90 degrees.
With her hand still holding onto the weapon, Midori mustered her strength and swung the giant sword in an attempt to stop Circe from running away. Luckily for the fox child, that tactic worked as Circe was forced to quit her shot and block the sword using her bow.
The archer had to land on the ground, and that gave Midori a fighting chance to land an attack on Circe. But because her balance was off and she didn't have enough strength in a single arm to hold a clash with Circe, Midori scrapped the idea of using a sword and dropped her weapon.
This sudden act managed to throw Circe off guard as Midori used the momentum of dropping her sword to turn her body to lift her left leg high and deliver a powerful kick to Circe's bow. Then, much to the shock of everyone, Circe flew across the arena and slammed her back into the wall.
The scene was too fast for anyone to react, so when Bryan felt something fly past him, the poor Slayer feared for his life as he stood frozen solid. Not because of Circe's well-being but because if he had stood an inch closer, he would've broken his spine by flying into the walls.
How... On earth does Midori have a strength level of an adult Mage?! Well, the fox child was considered a Mage, but she was still a child and was only recently learning to fight, so how could she have the strength to kick another child halfway across the battlefield?!
Midori didn't give Circe any chance to recover as she quickly grabbed her sword and ran toward the dizzy archer. However, before Midori could land a hit on the girl, Circe promptly rolled away and ran behind the saber, who needed to turn around to fend against the next attack.
"Arsonist Arrow: Hexadic Blaze!" yelled Circe as she quickly fired a sizeable flaming arrow at Midori's back.
The fox child swung around just in time to see six flaming arrows propelling towards her. Midori didn't have enough time as she quickly changed her sword position and defended against all six burning attacks. But the fox child would soon learn to regret that decision.
Midori could hear the arrows slightly ticking as if they were on a timer and ready to explode upon impact. Unfortunately, that problem would mean that Midori would be forced to have six explosions in her face. Thus, the blade was insufficient to provide the girl with enough protection.
"Fourth Seed: Mountainous Guard," said Midori as four boulders erupted from the ground in front of Midori.
The fox child was right in her predictions; the moment the attacks clashed, it created a massive firebomb and combusted into a large blaze, enough to wipe out an entire house.
"Well, if we need to do deforestation in Briton, we know who to call," said Tomoe, looking at the large fire on the battlefield.
"Excuse me? You are one to say that when you are a Fire mage yourself, Kitsune. Besides, those flames aren't too powerful since Midori's guard was sturdy enough to defend against the flames without breaking," retorted Ahsley, pointing downwards.
"Hmm... It's too early to judge that since the clash is still going on... But I agree with you; Midori's shield is stronger than Circe's attack."
Just as the adults discussed the two girls' fight, Circe's flaming arrows dissipated while Midori's boulders stood tall. Then, as Circe was trying to figure out why one of her strongest attacks was defeated by some rocks, Midori swung her leg and kicked down the boulders to scare Circe.
Seeing Circe's panicked expression, Midori unconsciously smiled as she burst through the falling rocks and clashed with Circe. The child of fire didn't know what to do as she could only defend against Midori's flurry of strikes and thrusts. And Midori's smile freaked both Bryan and Circe.
Circe was worried that Midori couldn't control herself with the attacks since it looked like the girl was trying to kill the fire child.
"Mordred... I think your 'berserk' is affecting me... Could you please turn it off?" asked Midori, within her inner world.
Mordred was shocked at the child's request and threw her head back in laughter. But unfortunately, that act did not help the situation as Midori pouted and stomped her foot in anger.
"That 'berserk' thing is the only aspect pushing your opponent back! Without it, you would've been beaten into a pulp. Think about it; if you had relied only on the sword, you would never touch the archer in a million years! So embrace the insanity and thrill of battle!"
