Chapter 513 - The Ark Of Consequences Of Childishness

"I have no clue why I have the change on my body, and even Lady Roydon couldn't give a proper answer about it. However, I can confirm that the form I have now is the natural form with the fox ears and tail."

"The one you are seeing now was when I didn't have a chance to grow up properly," described Midori as two standing figures broke down the stone door.

Two people stood in the doorway for a moment before barging in without saying anything. One was a plump man with jet black short hair and bronze skin. The other was a middle-aged woman with long, strawberry blonde hair and pale skin. The woman was the one who saw Midori first.

The lady rushed over and crushed the handcuffs using her slender and delicate fingers, much to Mordred's astonishment. The woman caught the limp girl in her arms and felt for signs of life within the child. Her voice was desperate as she held onto Midori's broken body.

"Please... Let this child be alive..." begged the woman, hugging Midori tightly.

Suddenly, the lady sprouted a pair of golden wings and used them to wrap herself and Midori. Meanwhile, the man was rummaging around the room to find any more kids or things to help to revive the kid. But unfortunately, there weren't many things in the room to aid in the situation.

Soon after, a cough was heard, and the wings faded into the darkness as the lady heaved a sigh of relief for the child waking up. The lady was crying as she held the child closer to her chest, soothing Midori to let her know she was safe at last.

"Everything's going to be okay... You're going to be safe from now on," murmured the unknown lady.

Midori looked at the woman in confusion as the two adults discussed how they should transport the kids to somewhere safe. Mordred felt a sense of relief as the lady continued to coo the broken child. But the whole thing seemed so happy yet sad at the same time.

The Knight of Rebellion felt so conflicted as she looked at that scene. Now she knew why Midori had been rude to Rina and fought against the Knight's respect for the King. The people supposed to help the child were the same ones who tortured her.

How could anyone forgive the person in a heartbeat after a lifetime's worth of endless pain and suffering? Mordred was surprised Midori, or any children, hadn't killed Rina in her sleep yet. The Knight felt anger and sadness for the children of the experiments.

Thus, the Knight found that her pain was nothing compared to what this poor child had to go through. That thought spawned a question in the Knight of Rebellion's head. How many children suffered because of the rampage she went through to bring down her father?

How many children and innocent lives suffered because of her childish wish? Just because the Knight was upset that the King refused to look at her in the eye and see her as the heir to the throne... So many children had to die because of it.

Mordred felt her head whirl upon that realization. But as she wanted to question Midori, the scene then changed again. Midori has clothed adequately in a tiny green dress with a bow at the back this time. Nevertheless, the child still looked lifeless as she sat in a corner with another boy.

The boy was Duncan, her twin brother. He also had that lifeless look in his eyes as he used his sister's shoulder as a pillow for his head. Mavislin came out of nowhere and looked quite solemn and tired. The Valkyrie sat beside the twins and looked at the children.

"Why, hello. Would you like a snack? You guys look hungry," asked the Valkyrie, producing a few pieces of bread from her sleeves.

The two kids stared at Mavislin in silence before staring at the bread. The Valkyrie waited for a moment before something in her brain clicked. Then, she quickly broke the bread into pieces and fed it to the two kids.

"I'll feed you both then. Here comes the little bird! Oomph! Isn't the bread nice? I love bread too," cooed the Valkyrie with a sweet smile plastered on her face.

Suddenly, Midori accidentally leaned forwards to get more bread from Mavislin, and the two females headbutted one another. Mavislin was shocked but had a joyful laugh, much to the befuddlement of the twins. The laughing Valkyrie sat back up and gently rubbed Midori's forehead.

Midori was emotionless as she backed away from the Valkyrie, most probably since the doctors would have tortured Midori if she was to ask for more food and hurt a senior.
