The kids instantly fled from their spots on the mat and played within the open fields. Even Duncan was joining in with the fun. Mavislin turned back to the members left on the carpet. She closed her eyes and sipped her drink.
"Now, this begs another question I have. Ashley, why didn't you halt the fight? What was the point of summoning you here again then? Wasn't it to supervise the sessions so it won't go out of hand?" asked Mavislin, directing her eyes towards the Marksman.
"I understand, but I couldn't just stop the duel before me. So I'll defend my actions from the moon and back, and it was right for me to let the battle go on longer than it should. The Headmaster was here, and he didn't even stop them."
"So that goes to show it was a meaningful duel. I didn't want to interfere since the two of them were having a proper duel. It was a great way to understand Midori's points in combat. And sure enough, Duncan was right."
"Midori was only showing her off her skills as a great fighter of the katana," protested Ashley.
Ashley widened his eyes as he recalled what he needed to tell Tomoe. The Marksman's sudden head turn shocked Tomoe, who choked on his drink.
"What?!" asked Tomoe, trying his best not to die.
"Midori's power to summon a sword was grand but slower than the first two kids. When we were transported to Aokigahara could see the weapon Midori was holding. She was wielding one of the swords forged by Masamune!" exclaimed Ashley, grinning from ear to ear.
Bryan spat out his drink in astonishment while Tomoe stared at Ashley with a blank look.
"How the hell did a runt like her get such a piece of weaponry?!" asked Tomoe, with a look of distress.
"And why does she have a Suicidal Forest as one of her spells?!" asked Bryan, having the same expression as Tomoe.
It appears that Tomoe and Bryan have been spending too much time together that even their expressions are similar. Raiyen found it amusing that his Familiar could pull off such a worrying face and could feel the emotion of horror.
"Could you please explain about the katana, Tomoe? What's so special about it?" asked Mavislin.
"Well, to understand why the sword is of importance is to look at its forger. The master swordsmith makes the katana of Japan during the years 1288 and 1328. His name was Gorō Nyūdō Masamune, and he made a name for himself as the best swordsmith in Japan."
"In the years that he was active, Masamune forged the best katanas of history. His blades would be used for the wars to come, even after he had passed on. Each sword has been branded by Masamune and has a unique design on the blade. I'll show you an example," explained Raiyen.
The Time Mage cracked his knuckles. He snapped his finger, summoning Time Ripper into his hand. Raiyen made a quick slash in the space before him, opening a void of darkness. A handle popped out from the void, and Raiyen gently pulled it out for the Valkyrie to see.
Mavislin looked at the blade in awe as Raiyen rambled on about how the weapon's sword was forged to be super thin. The Time Mage pointed out that the wavy design of the blade was one of the ways to tell a Masamune creation from the rest.
"I see... This katana looks similar to the ones Minwoo used to collect. He did mention about the weapons durability and sharpness," said Mavislin, gently handing back the weapon to Raiyen.
The blade disappeared, leaving Bryan impressed at the scene.
"Ash, which katana did Midori use during the fight?" asked Tomoe.
"If I'm not mistaken, it would be the Honjō Masamune. And the way she used the blade during the fight against Rina... Well, I'll let her tell you more on that," answered Ashley, pointing to Rina.
Rina had been silent since she was still feeling guilty about what she had done. The Flower Mage jumped slightly as she saw the group looking at her.
"Midori's reflexes are not as fast as Mavislin's, and they were on par with mine. She could match up to my thrusts and strikes, but if I were to use my Element against her, Midori would have stumbled. On the other hand, her attention to her surrounding was extraordinary."
"Even the placement of her blade was interesting."
"Why do you mean by that?"
"Midori could detect my Petunias from detonating despite not knowing where they were. She could also predict how I moved my body to clash with her. The child is nimble and quick-thinking on her feet. It was surprising to me because the rest didn't have such great reflexes."
