"Then why didn't you say so earlier? I thought you'd just wanted to see a boring show between two girls fighting. If you can't find the opening, then I'll help you. Though, I'm expecting something in return," said Duncan, standing up.
"Sure, kid. I'll get you anything you want if you can stop these two for now. Because let's be honest, I'm starting to get hungry as well. And I want to wrap this up before Mavislin, or the High Queen gets here," said Z, giving a thumbs-up at Duncan.
Duncan blinked before giving cracking a smile.
"Alright, it's a deal. And since you've been kind to me, I'll give you my share of the mushroom ragout. It smells heavenly," replied Duncan, copying Z's gesture.
The child walked closer to the dueling ladies and called out to Midori.
"Sis, stop the fight now! I'm hungry!" yelled Duncan as Rina's spear clashed with Midori's Masamune.
Midori broke concentration and looked towards her twin. Because of that grave miscalculation, Rina had the chance to overpower Midori. Instead, the child was knocked back to a tree with great force. Seizing the opportunity, the Flower Mage lunged towards the child to deal a deadly blow.
"I won't let you kill my sister," growled Duncan as his purple eyes glowed brilliantly.
He threw his left arm outwards and had his palm open. Duncan's head was tilted to the side alongside an irk mark appearing on his left temple. Then, with his expression baring the look of a murderer, Midori mysteriously vanished into the shadow of the tree over her.
It was as if the ground had swallowed her whole. Rina couldn't stop in time and ended up barrelling through the row of trees. Z turned to look at Duncan in dismay. Then, before Ashley could protest or ask anything, Midori emerged from Duncan's shadow.
She looked dazed and confused as her weapon disappeared. Midori then saw Duncan's annoyed expression and shivered as a result.
"I'm not angry at you, sis. Just be more aware of your surroundings next time. And be considerate to the rest of us. I was getting hungry because your session took too long," explained Duncan, folding his arms across his chest.
When Duncan saw the expression Midori was giving, he sighed and extended a hand out to her. Then, he smiled at his beloved sister.
"Don't let your emotions take control over you. It would be effortless for others to take advantage of you if you keep relying on your feelings during battle. Sure, at times, it does give you a boost. However, if you allow your feelings to cloud your actions, then your enemy can kill you."
"You make mistakes because you weren't thinking straight. And smart opponents can grab any opening thread to win the battle. But, on the other hand, you are lucky that Rina acted on her emotions since you brought up her past as an experimenter."
"I'm starting to think if you guys aren't busy aiming for each other's throats, both of you would make the perfect team. Or best friends. Now then, let's head back to the Old Chapel for lunch," explained Duncan, gently soothing his sister's hair and arms.
Midori looked at her brother with teary eyes. The brother crouched down to give his sister a small hug before drawing up to full height again. Midori wiped away her tears and nodded.
"I'm sorry. I guess I do let my emotions take over me too much. Let's go get our lunch, brother," whispered Midori, holding her brother's hand.
Z and Ashley looked at each other with questioning looks before glancing back to the kids.
"That kid has got some unique powers. I thought he'd got Baldwin's Element?" asked Z.
"For the time I've been here, I highly doubt so. Although, I can feel that Duncan emits an Aura similar to a Grim Reaper's presence. Thus, it might lead to the assumption of him having Necrosis. But I will agree with you. That kid possesses some special powers."
"And that's quite a thing to say coming from a dead person," replied Ashley.
"I can't tell if he is the younger or older brother. Because it sounds like he is more mature than his sister," noted Z, placing his hand under his chin.
"Not just that, I'm more confused about Duncan's behavior. He didn't care about why his sister was fighting, but he cared for her wellbeing? How does that work?" asked Ashley.
"People who have got a low Emotional Quotence tend to act like they don't care, but they do in some shape or form. Or if a person has triggered him. In this case, Duncan didn't care if Rina and Midori were fighting. He just wanted to get over it because he was bored."
