Chereads / Second Chance Addison / Chapter 69 - Cable ties

Chapter 69 - Cable ties

Having released the man's wrists, Fait repositioned Tucker's arms so he could lay in a more natural position.

She then took his right arm, moved it above his head, and secured it snugly at the wrist to the headboard with a couple of cable ties.

The guys said nothing and simply watched as Fait went into the bathroom. She came back out with a small trash bin she had found.

She placed it on the floor near the side of the bed so it would be within Tucker's reach should he wake up and need it.

Fait double checked the cable ties before addressing the previously arguing duo. "He is restrained and can throw up with dignity. Any objections?"

Chance shook his head and Koty started to open his mouth. Before Koty could voice his complaints, there was a knock at the door.

Without a drop of hesitation, Fait answered it and was greeted by two of her secretaries. They each had a few unassuming bags that contained the things she had asked for.

"Mr. Flynn," She motioned for him to walk over and then started passing him the bags from the secretaries.

After sending the women away, she had Koty put the bags down and started digging through them. Fait quickly found the one she was looking for.

The first thing she pulled out of it was Koty's new phone.

"Think fast." Was all the warning he got as she threw it to him.

He caught it and fished his dead phone out of his pocket and extracted the SIM card. Once he had put the card in the new phone and activated it, several notification sounds went off in succession.

'Oh great.' He thought as he scrolled through missed calls and messages from his sister.

Fait reached back into the bag and pulled out a wireless webcam. She set it up to face the bed and then paired the little camera with her phone.

Satisfied with the view on the feed, she went back to the bags again. She found the one with her change of clothes and then passed the remaining bags to the guys.

Fait walked over to the door and waited for the guys to follow. She was ready to call it a day.

Chance hesitated and looked back at the unconscious man on the bed. It didn't feel right to leave him all alone.

What if someone was after him now that he'd failed his 'job'? What if they were followed? What if he really did get sick and choke? What if he got alcohol poisoning? What if...

"Addison, it's time to go." Fait's voice pulled Chance's mind back from the sea of worry it was sinking into.

"Yeah, c'mon. He's not going anywhere and we're right next door. Just let him sleep it off." Koty added.

Lola put his hand on Chance's shoulder and steered him towards the door. He understood that his boss was concerned but they were not going to let him stay there with someone with ill intentions.

Chance was still reluctant to go but, now that all the initial excitement had died down, his body was starting to remind him how tired he was.

He stifled a yawn and walked over to the door as well.

Fait called the security office to activate the gap protocol and then let the men out of the room.

Once they were safely in their suite, she canceled the protocol, and closed the door.

She walked back over to Tucker to check him one more time. He was indeed securely attached to the bed and his breathing and pulse were even.

She still held no real concern for him. But, since Chance wanted to talk to him, she'd make sure the man made it through the night.

Fait dimmed the lights, grabbed her things, and went to her own room across the hall.

After getting herself situated for the night, she plugged her phone in to charge and pulled up the live feed of the sleeping Tucker. She turned her volume all the way up and set the phone on the bedside stand.

If he so much as mumbled, she'd be able to hear it.

Fait turned out the light, laid down, and drifted off into a light slumber.

...

Only a few hours had passed before there was movement across the hall. Fait's eyes shot open when she heard the man struggling against the cable ties on his arm.

She grabbed her phone to check the camera feed and saw him tugging at the ties and rubbing them against the headboard.

To her surprise, he gave up quickly and then sat in silence for a few minutes.

"Hello?" He called out in a whisper so low she almost didn't hear it.

Fait checked the time thought about whether or not to alert the others. It was two in the morning and she would rather let everyone sleep.

"Hello?" Tucker asked a little louder.

Not getting a response, he mumble something to himself then laid back down and went back to sleep.

'Well, that solved itself.' When she was absolutely sure he was out, she too went back to sleep.
