Chapter 1 - One night at the Janatha Bar

The SCENE at JANATHA BARS

The term "JANATHA" defines Public, but, the term was restricted to only to those of Mid and Low class at Bars where you get to experience a whole new environment full of noise, yelling out frustrations, people staggering, falling and getting up and many such scenes which at times gives you fun and makes you ponder about several life styles.

The SCENE:

As soon as you enter the bar, a boy/man comes to you saying "saab kya chahiye"???(Sir what to you want) and we say Doh tanda KF lite leke aaannaaa....tanda maane ek dum tanda...neechese leeke aaanaa(we order for two chilled KF lite beers...n insists they must b damn chilled, get it from the bottom). He listens to the same word thousand times a day n gets whatever is available; people argue for some-time and accept the given one as they cannot waste some more time going to other bars. That's a perfect psychology that serving man/boy are mastered with.

As soon as you open the beer, you start asking, "chote....khaanekeliye kya milega"????(boy, what can i have to eat), he replies with Non-Veg item first though he doesn't' get benefited from that Non-veg selling guy. We order some Non-veg and mean-while order some "Chudwa"(peas, cereals stuff) as the non-veg takes some time for preparation.

We(refers to me and my friend/s) start talking about our careers, movies, sports and other stuff and start observing the guys beside, behind and around us and listen to their conversations carefully.

ONE EXAMPLE TYPES OF PERSONS YOU COME ACCROSS:

MID-AGED PERSON

At times, we often see a lonely mid-aged man taking a small bottle (probably whisky or rum not sure of it) mixing it up water (soda too at times) and start enjoying his time. It keeps me ponder about that incident, probably the man must be in some sort of mental agony, or some financial crunch. May be as people say, boozing doesn't serve the purpose and moreover it ruins your health, you lose money, respect and so on...but, a man in doesn't care about all those.

Though he knew the bad impacts of it, he may not give it up, because that's the only "solace" he enjoys for a short while. For a while, we sympathize the man and just move on.

Meanwhile, the service guy comes and asks if there's any order, before the order, we enquire about his pay, he says he is paid around 2-3k and on tips he could earn around 2-3k more and most of these people come from Orissa and Bihar. That makes me wonder, just for these small bucks, these guys have to leave their families and have to come so far. It sometimes makes me treat Hyderabad as foreign Country for them and also reminds me of the fact, though we feel INDIA seems to be next Super Power, ILLITERACY still prevails to a larger extent. The tip of 10-20 bucks you pay, such bucks from another 10-20 people means a lot to the guy per day.

After that we order some more beers, stuff (if required) and go on with our conversations and observations followed by late-night movie. The day ends and new day begins, every one's get busy with their work and the story repeats on weekend.

CONCLUSION:

Liquor is a fun for some-one, livelihood for few and a lone-companion for some. It varies on people's mindsets and perceptions. But, it's definitely a bad thing if habituated.
