Ten minutes later the Chairman of Cinopec Group walked out of the police station with his helper and driver in tow.
The air around them was filled with tension, walking no more than five feet from them was Tian Min with his shoulders slumped in dejection, a feeling of humiliation seized his whole body. Meanwhile, Liu Rachael nervously glanced at Duan Chengyu who was walking beside her to her left with the driver on her right, the two forming a sort of protective shield.
"Chairman Duan....I'm so sorry to have put you in such a tight spot. I promise not to let it happen ever again!"
"Let's talk about it when we get home, Miss Liu."
Liu Rachael could hear the tone of finality in his voice, causing her cheek to further redden in shame. Luckily, the light coming from the parking lot wasn't bright enough for him to witness her discomfiture, had that been the case. Liu Rachael would have died of mortification.
"Hmmm...Chairman Duan?"
"Yes?"
"It's late, I don't think there would be cabs around this time and even if there was it would take a long time to catch one from here. Is it okay for me to ride back with you?"
Twisting her fingers nervously, Liu Rachael's eyes were fixed to the ground as she waited to see if he would allow her to follow him back, since she thought he would fire her for what happened at the police station.
