Chapter 16 - Fourteen: A Letter From John

Dear Kate & Cameron

I've moved to Maine to finally finish what I started. I'm going to remodel my grandparents old house. It's cold here , the winters are brutal but it's worth it in the end. I think about you two often, I think about that lake as well. Kate, I pray you've finally forgiven yourself. I pray you've found peace. I thank God for you two. I lay down at night and ponder our time together. Cameron, nobody's perfect we all make mistakes. Your hardest battle is over now. I'm grateful for you two for allowing me into your home. To open your doors up to a complete stranger is a generous thing. I thank you for your kindness and friendship. In the end , we all learned something valuable from this. We learned about guilt , and we learned about forgiveness. We learned about letting go ..... and acceptance. I'm extremely honored to have known your daughter Ruth. She will forever be a shining light. The road from here gets easier. Healing takes time , and there will be many sleepless nights. As for myself I'll find work to occupy my time. Although I'll admit thinking about the past year will be difficult. I pray for your families, hoping this will bring them together. In memory of your two daughters Riley and Ruth.

Sincerely,

John Kelsing
