Chapter 17 - Shredding The Document

Feng Xinying looked up at him with surprise as she gaped. "Then? B-but…"

"I am Xie Weihui's nephew. My father was Xie Weihui's brother. My father and mother died in a car accident when I was only four years old," he replied to her, watching her reaction.

She was still surprised, but the fact that even his mother died at such a young age and in an accident at that, just like her own mother, she could feel for his loss. "I am sorry…" she said.

"That's okay. It was a long time ago," he said. Then he changed the topic. "If you sign that contract, we will go to the marriage registry office now. My lawyer will handle the formalities. Also, you have to start your job tomorrow."

"I refuse to be your secretary," she said in a raised tone.

Without saying another word, Xie Yuansheng picked the contract from the table and got up. He appeared so furious that Feng Xinying wondered what he was up to. She saw that he walked towards the shredder and switched it on. He was going to feed the contract to the shredder! In her panic, she shouted at him, "Xie Yuansheng, what are you doing?"

He looked at her and said, "It seems Miss Feng is not interested in my proposal, so I am shredding this document."

"Of course, I am!" she shouted so that he heard her properly.

She got up from her place and rushed to him. Hastily, she snatched the contract from him, pulled a pen out of his blazer's front pocket, and signed on the first dotted line, immediately after keeping the document on his office table. "Where else do I have to sign?" she asked. This was her last chance to get the company.

Xie Yuansheng smiled and showed her all the places where her signature was needed. Then he went on to sign the papers himself. Once they finished signing, he said, "The amendments you have asked for will be taken care of by my lawyer. And now, let's go to the marriage registry office."

He looked so smug that Feng Xinying felt like slapping him. He had coerced a woman like her into a contract marriage. She had been known to be a ruthless and haughty in her social circles. How could she fall into this trap? But then she calmed her nerves when thinking that she would be free soon. Only three months…

Xie Yuansheng properly placed the folder in his office drawer, locked it and said, "Let's go to the Civil Affairs office."

Feng Xinying collected her purse and followed him outside the office. When the secretaries and other employees saw their boss coming out with a huge smile followed by a very beautiful model-like woman, they couldn't help thinking that something was going on between them. Yun Chen appeared as if she had eaten sour vinegar. The entire floor fell silent as they passed through. As soon as they left, the office broke into a murmur of gossip.

The pair want to the Civil Affairs office together in his car. None of them spoke to each other. While his lips were still slightly curled upward, she was devising plans to go against him and annul the contract as soon as possible or take the position by hook or by crook.

Since Feng Xinying didn't say a word to him, Xie Yuansheng expected her to ignore him.

The lawyer accompanied them in a different car. He was an efficient man with a lot of contacts. Their marriage procedure was processed so fast that they were holding their marriage certificates in their hands in less than an hour.

Feng Xinying couldn't believe that she was married to Xie Yuansheng, her archrival in high school, someone who she was thinking of removing from the position of CEO of the Feng Conglomerate. She had come to the office with an offer that he couldn't refuse, but instead, she ended up accepting his offer.

It was a strange day… She had become 'missus'. It was difficult to accept her status.

Xie Yuansheng and Feng Xinying came out of the Civil Affairs office.

Xie Yuansheng gave his marriage certificate to her and said, "Keep these properly. I will drop you home and then go to the office." Then he checked the time on his watch and said, "There are a lot of meetings, and I might be late."

He was talking to her as if he now owned her.
