BOOOOM
A hail of grey dust particles rained down from the roof as another decisive
I panted hard, my breath drawing long and my arm twitching from repeated use. It seemed the high of finding evidence of something more than rock finally ran out.
Reality sucked more than I thought.
I was sure that I traveled about twenty feet out, but as I saw another dull crater of stone, I was beginning to think it was pointless.
But that echo, I clearly heard it without fail. I was sure of it.
Then the wheels in my mind began to turn as I stumbled, almost falling face first to the ground.
After forcing myself to catch my breath and calm down, I glared upwards.
"Rock throw damnit!"
With another explosion of rock hitting against rock, there was an add sizzling sound afterward.
I gawked up as the dust cleared, unsure of what might lay beyond the blurriness. My eyes adjusted as the green glow from the Mana Crystal grew in intensity.
What the hell?
I watched as the ceiling began to crack. More bits of rock falling to the floor without fail. Suddenly, a small drop of water splatted on my forehead.
Oh God.
A huge burst of rock came flying down and a literal river came rushing toward me. I held my breath as the water slapped against me with full force.
I did not expect the impact to be so hard and soon my eyes began to flutter. If I pass out now, I knew I was going to die.
I held on to my awareness for as long as possible, the edges of my vision blurry as water took up my entire cave.
Shit, this was the end.
I could already see a dog coming to take me....
WAIT A FUCKING DOG?!!!?
Without a second to spare I was yanked upwards, the cold water rushing by my body and my acceleration increasing.
Then, it all stopped and I slowly surfaced above the water, my mouth opening wide for air, "Ahhhh."
I took in as much air as possible, my hand clutching my chest. This was my first encounter with death. Holy shit that was not fun. Do Isekai MC's really just do that without fail?
"Ah, Humon is not dead?"
I turned around in the water, a long snout looking back at me.
Uhhhh.
"Ahhhhh!" I screamed and quickly tried to doggy paddle away. There was an actual monster in here.
Wait where is here?
As I frantically tried to swim away I noticed that I was in a small pond situated in a vast opening in the rock. The ceiling at least twenty feet high.
"Humon is bad at swimming?"
I stopped and noticed that the nasally boyish voice was coming from the same place as the beast.
"If so I help Humon!"
I felt a mighty force nudge my back and before I knew it, I was face down on the shore of the circular pond, an imprint left by my body.
I honestly wished I could be unconscious right about now because my pain receptors were on full throttle.
"Did I hurt Humon, I sorrrrry."
Pushing through the pain I looked back to see who was talking.
Oh.
A small grey wolf happily paddled in the water, a blue diamond placed between its grey eyes.
What the hell is that?

Fuck, well life was short.
"Go ahead and kill me, My life may have been short but at least I tried."
I closed my eyes and accepted my fate.
"Why would I kill Humon, he is weak?"
I opened my eyes to see the beast sitting leisurely next to me with his tongue out. Now that it was closer, it's fur resembled more of small metal strands than actual fur.
Also, a strong dominant aura escaped through its mouth as it panted. I craned my neck to see a tail wagging back and forth.
Siiighhhhh.
I relaxed and sat up.
"Paw?"
The beast immediately held out its hand and it was firmly planted in mine. I face palmed and stood up, "lay down..."
Without fail the wolf laid down.
"Roll over," I said while raising an eyebrow.
The beast happily spun on the ground and came up with his tail wagging even more.
"How are you legendary class, wait, what or who even are you?" I said while rubbing my temples.
"I am Camis the Great, or Cam for short, I strong beast who fought for many centuries." The beast lowered his head.
I couldn't help but smile at the fact such a strong beast had such an underlining personality and spoke in broken english.
"Well my name is Brock Iwa, most just call me by Brock. I was summoned here."
Cam wagged his tail harder, the ground cracking with pressure, "You were also summoned here by the Awaken?"
Awaken?
------
Awaken- a race of humanoid beings that have the ability to inherit spells. Easily identified by grey skin and white hair.
Class: High
------
"Ah no I was summoned by Fena, A Bitch Goddess with no sense in men, heard of her?"
Cam cocked his name, "Bitch?"
I almost burst out laughing as the wolf recited such a dirty word.
"Never mind that, but I was still summoned here nonetheless."
I crouched down to be on eye level with the creature, "May I ask why you got summoned here?"
Cam let out a breath and nodded, "Yeth, I was summoned her because I kept killing the Awaken."
I swallowed hard, "Uhhh, is there a reason why?"
Cam looked around aimlessly, "No, just seem like fun. I like fighting strong people and since they were close to my home, I kill."
I took a few steps back, "Well I see, um, I must be going then."
I walked like a robot toward the wall. Then it hit me that I lost my sack filled with rocks. I frantically scoured the floor for it.
"Hey Cam, uh, by chance did you see a green bag?" I asked while checking the shore.
"You mean this?" Cam said while tossing the soaked sack toward me, I caught it with both hands.
It felt weird how warm the rocks felt, almost like they were a part of me. I never guessed I would almost cry over lost rocks. Wow how far I have fallen.
"Thank you Cam, I am forever in your favor."
I watched as Cam nodded and just sat there quietly, watching me without a care in the world.
I patted my soaked jacket and pants and sighed. I guess there were no dry cleaners in sight.
BOOOOOOM!
I splatted against the far wall, another imprint of my body being engraved into the wall.
I fell to the floor in a heap.
"What the hell was that?!"
Cam seemed to smile, "I dried you off with my breath, was it too much?"
I clutched my elbow, the pain ricocheting around my entire body, "Nope, not at all..."
I did noticed how not a single drop of wetness was on my clothes, and I also realized how formidable Cam really was.
Legendary Class eh?
I shook my head and took out a rock.
"
The hefty explosion of energy hit its mark.
But...
Not a single scratch was left on it.
What the-
------
High Stone-
Stone crated when large quantities of Mana is present for many years.
------
I fingered my chin and turned toward Cam, the wolf still unsure what I was doing.
"Do you know why this High Stone is here?"
Cam nodded, "because I have been here for over a thousand years and since I generate so much Mana without using it, I release it often."
I fell to my knees in defeat.
Why did this have to happen to me?!
I slammed my fist against the rock, damn that Bitch Goddess, damn her.
Cam spoke up, "So what does Humon- I mean Brock want to do?"
I relaxed myself and looked at the wolf, "I need to make it to the surface so I can live out my dream of being a generic MC with women surrounding me. That's what I want to do. Buuuut, this shitty stone needs to be broken." I pointed with my thumb at the wall, Cam gawking at it with confusion.
"So break it?" The beast said.
I chuckled and exhaled, "I wish it was that simple, but I'm just too weak." I shrugged and leaned my back against the jagged stone, "At least I have you to talk to."
Cam glanced around, "Then why not just become stronger?"
I let the statement glide off my mind. Maybe I could go back down and continue were I left off at?
Cam shook his head, "Water drains you of Mana, water no good."
I blinked a few times and sat like a statue, my disbelief crumbling my thought process.
So what now? Fuck!
Was this the end to my great story that has yet to start? Was Brock Iwa going to die with a sadistic wolf that likes strong opponents and kills without remorse?
I closed my eyes.
"Does Humon accept death this easily? I remember Humon being strong and unwavering."
I laughed, "Then I guess I aint human then Cam, just a washed up high schooler."
Cam stopped wagging his tail, "I sure you Humon, what is high schooler?"
Man this Beast is something else, I mean at least he is entertaining. Is it a he?
------
Yes
------
Thanks skill, you make my days slightly less annoying.
I kept my eyes closed and remembered my parents sitting down for breakfast. My sister Lili running around chasing Marlo, our pug.
I would say I miss it, but for some reason even if I had such good memories, I knew I could never go back.
I knew that there was no way there was a possibility to go back, the Bitch Goddess said so...
I frizzled my brown hair and looked around for anywhere more comfortable.
I was stopped by Cam staring me down, his nose a few inches from mine.
"Humon strong, I can tell, but Humon also weak."
Cam gestured to my face, a few tears already rolling down my cheeks.
How pathetic...
How many times have I cried? How many times will I throw in the towel?
I curled up in a ball.
How many times will it take for me to stop clinging to this reality I want so bad?
.
.
.
.
.
.
How many times have I tried?
------
None
------
I stopped my tears from flowing. Even my skill knew how much I have tried to actually reach that destination.
Hell, I'm a fucking idiot!
I got up and looked straight at Cam, the wolf's tail wagging excitedly, "I know that look anywhere, you are Humon!"
I wiped my pathetic tears away and balled my hands into a fist.
"Cam I want to become strong so I can achieve my dream. But how?"
Cam put his paw up and hit my leg, "Train, like all Humons do."
I clenched the sack of rocks I had, "But how...."
Cam got up and walked to the edge of the pond, his grey eyes shining with intent.
"How about this, Humon try to get rock into water."
I shook my head, "How will th-
My mouth stopped as Cam glared me down with deadly eyes. I would of pissed my pants if I didn't know the wolf was a lazy childish beast.
I shrugged and tossed a single rock at the water.
I watched as it arced toward the pond and was inches away from the pond's surface, then it vanished.
Blinking a few times I tossed another one.
The same thing occurred. The rock disappearing right before impact.
Was the Mana stealing water disintegrating the rock before impact? Did I need to pull a certain amount of Mana to over ride it? Or was this some trickery that would increase my power in general?
THUMP...
THUMP...
I watched as the two stones I previously just threw were dropped to the floor, right in front of Cam.
The wolf happily panted as he saw me realize what was afoot.
I quickly activated
I this time focused my gaze on Cam.
In the instant before the rock would hit the surface, Cam would disappear for a single second, wind exploding from were he stood.
The gust of wind hit the side of the wall were it dispersed.
Cam was back were he once was, the rock steaming in his mouth.
"Does Humon now understand?"
I couldn't help but grin, "Yes Cam, Humon understands very clearly."
