Chapter 5 - •05~ The Haze

I skipped a few years again until I was about 11 years old. That was when Mom died. In fact, I was brought to the day before her death.

"Zelda, we are charitable to the Zoras because their kingdom is calling apart. Since we haven't exactly been friends for a while, I think if we help rebuild their kingdom, they might start an alliance with us," mother explained. 11 year old me rolled my eyes.

"Mom, that's rupees that we could be using to rebuild parts of Hyrule! Like the Temple of Time! Why do we need to start an alliance anyways? Our country is strong!" I countered.

Now I understood why we were charitable to the Zoras. I didn't know it at the time but, the Gorons were going to go to war with us. And mother knew. Our army wasn't big enough, nor trained enough. So we made a desperate call to the Zoras, and their small army whapped the Gorons. The Zoras and the Gorons had been fighting for a long time before. So, the Zoras knew the weak spots, and how to evade them, and simply, how to defeat them.

"You never know when you might need help Zelda," Mother said calmly. 11 year old me rolled her eyes again. But 16 year old me smiled.

"Fine," mini-me said sassily. Mother left the room she was talking to me in, and I followed her.

I followed her into the throne room, where father was planning our the war with the Knights of the Triforce.

"I say we fail on purpose and let the Zoras have a go at battling them. They'd feel like they have a purpose, and it'd prove that we trust them," mother suggested. My mouth dropped. She planned this? Why?

"What's your reasoning?" Father asked, similar to me.

"I had a dream. A dream that when Zelda is 17 years old, a war will happen. A great war that requires much help. But I wasn't there. Hyrim, I think I'm supposed to die. And I think Link is meant to kill me," Mother admitted. Father and the Triforce Knights all jumped 5 feet in the air.

"But my lady--"

"Zelda you have to--"

"If my dreams are prophetic and you wish for me to listen to them, then I'm listening. And my dream says I'm meant to die!" Mother asserted firmly. A subtle tear streamed down both my and her cheek. Mother let herself die.

A man I didn't recognize came into the room. He pointed at mother and mother nodded.

"Link, let's go prepare for the charity event," she said. So that was Link. He looked mightily different from the man who killed mother. The man who killed mother blonde, but to the point of almost white. He had a really long tongue, and he had eyeshadow.

And if Link didn't kill mother, who did? And why?
