Chereads / Chronicles of a giver / Chapter 2 - Bliss and Oblivion

Chapter 2 - Bliss and Oblivion

On the same day, Kailyn strode across the corridor of school absentmindedly, holding a stack of books in her hands. Just as she entered class, a boy with dark hair rushed past her almost knocking her down.

"sorry!!" He said before rushing towards the top of the school, clutching a bouquet of flowers.

"he must be in a hurry" chuckled Kailyn lightly before looking at him one last time and getting back to class. As she entered class, a group of girls who had just been conversing intently stopped to stare at her before whispering to each other with expressions of concealed contempt.

Kailyn could hear them, and she knew they were whispering about her but couldn't be bothered to let them know that she noticed. She went to her seat and kept her books on the table before taking our her phone to scroll through her feed.

"Hey kailyn" One of the girls who whispered about her turned her chair around to talk. "I heard something happened at your place last night" She said with an expression of gossip and disregard for personal boundaries.

"It was nothing" Kailyn replied lightly before looking at her feed again, clearly unwilling to talk. Seeing that she had been cut off, the girl turned back around to her conversations with a glint in her eyes and a slight smile..

The girl was Kailyn's neighbour and had told her gossip circles about what happened last night at Kailyn's home. Kailyn's dad had screamed at her once again and she had been outside taking the trash out when she decided to eavesdrop.

Life wasn't too easy for Kailyn. Her parents absurdly expected too much from her, and if anything slightly went wrong, Kailyn would be made to feel as if she puts in no effort at all.

Kailyn tries hard to fulfill her parents expectations when it comes do studies and daily life, but some things are just too much to ask for from a developing teenager. Adults call it an abnormality if their teenage children aren't exactly like they want them to be, however they forget that it's them that must change their attitudes towards their children because living in this century as a teenager is very different from earlier. It's harder for them.

Kailyn sighed softly with these thoughts in her mind. "what would it take for adults to realize this?" She thought in melancholy. Class started shortly and the teacher she hated the most showed up; Mr.Don.

He walked in with a tucked white shirt and black pants. His glasses had a purplish glint in them as he swept his haze across the class, stopping at Kailyn for a second longer.

"Is everyone ready for the presentation?" The slightly raspy voice from the teacher sounded out.

The voice added onto his creepiness despite the formal attire adorned by him. "Miss Turner, how about you start first?" The teacher smiled, flashing his bright teeth.

"Sure...." Kailyn said with hesitation before walking to the front of the class. "let's start" The teacher said with a slight squeeze on her arm.

Kailyn shuddered at the teacher's actions but ignored and she started. "A partnership business is alot different from a business with a sole trader, They-"

"No, they have many similarities" The teacher cut in abruptly. "Have you not referred to my notes?" The Teacher asked with contempt as he placed his hand on her waist with a look of hidden lasciviousness. The others in class didn't notice this as they both were behind the slightly tall desk of the teacher.

Kailyn's mind was in turmoil as she felt the cold touch of the teacher slide down slowly towards her ass before stopping right before his hand reached it.

"Go back to your seat, I'll talk to you after class" The teacher said before calling up other kids for the presentation.

Kailyn walked back to her seat with an uncomfortable look of disgust and dread.

After the bell rang, all the students went out off class. just as Kailyn was about to leave, the teacher called out "Miss Turner, a minute please" The teacher looked over his glasses with that purplish glint.

"I've seen your performance at class drop, from today after school at 6:00pm you will come to my place for private tutoring" He said with lasciviousness.

With a nod, Kailyn left the class with a look of dread plastered on her face. She felt extremely anxious as she imagined the private tutoring lesson from Mr. Don.

Classes went as usual, Kailyn noticed that a angry looking girl wearing a purple outfit walk past her fuming. Kailyn lightly chuckled at this dramatic scene and kept walking. She was never a fan of other people's drama and gossip.

As school finished, she walked home trying to think of a way to tell her parents about the tutoring session by Mr Don. She knew her parents would blame her for sure, but she had no choice.

She reached the doorstep of her home, and just as she was about to press the doorbell, she heard her parents talk;

"Honey I think Kailyn is changing" the voice of her mother sounded. "When ever we make new rules, she argues with us and talks back, we can't have this anymore".

"That is true, I think we should send her to a boarding school so that she changes herself" Her dad said.

Hearing this, Kailyn's heart sunk as she felt like her whole world was falling apart. Tears welled up in her eyes as she took off running.

The clouds turned dark as thunder started booming across the skies. The rain dropped silently onto her blushed face that reflected sorrow.

She had gone through too much the past few days. Her parents seem to become more distant and days flew by, they stopped trying to understand her and only wanted everything their way.

They seemed to think that children were devoid of emotion and that depression that high-schoolers go through isn't something to worry about.

Her classmates were fake and would use any opportunity to step over her to achieve what they need. And they frequently spoke behind her back which upseted her tremendously.

She never really had much happiness in life, doing the same things everyday and facing the same people who never failed to never failed to make her miserable.

She wanted no more of this, she ran in the rain, her clothes soaked. her hair sticking to her skin.

She stopped at a bridge and stared at the river. A thought flashed through her mind. 'what if I ended it all? '

'would they miss me?.....'

'Do I even have a purpose?.....'

'I doubt it'

She had no need to face any of this anymore. All her pains would cease to exist with just a step.

As she closed her eyes with a smile of satisfaction, she swayed her body and let it fall down into the river. She felt herself dive deep into the water.

All her worries seemed to dissolve into the river as she felt like she was floating.

It was over,

A life that seemed to have no hope at all,

Was finally set free to Mother Nature.

The girl felt like she melded into the river as she let everything go.

Kailyn opened her eyes to see the dark sky,

Clouds of darkness filled the sky with a light rain.

'Am I dead?...'

Just as she was about too look around, she saw a boy with dark hair cover her vision as his lips met with hers slowly.

'Huh?'

'wait....'

She panicked before squirming and kicked the boy, he landed a few feet away before widening his eyes in surprise.

"This is a misunderstanding, I saw you in the river and I pulled you out, I was trying a CPR' he said with a panicked expression.

"CPR!? you were clearly taking advantage of me!!. She pointed at him furiously. "You took my first kiss!!".

"First kiss?" he said. "You wouldn't have had any first kiss at all if I didnt save you" he said with a look of 'are you kidding me'.

Realizing all of this, Kailyn came back to her senses. She properly looked at the boy and she realised that he was familiar. Despite tree e having a few cuts on his arms and face, his prominent dark hair reminded her that he was the guy that almost knocked into her today at school.

"Damien?....." she said after recognising him.

"Why are you soo injured?" She asked and she eyed his cuts. She knew his name because the school was small and almost everyone was familiar with each other in a way.

"it's a long story....." he said distantly. "enough about me, why were you in trying to swim on this weather?" He asked in a slightly joking yet serious tone.

"well.....It's a long story" she sighed as she distantly looked at the sky and then at him.

He did look pretty handsome with his long hair sticking to his face due to the rain.

When Damien was at home, he felt a surge of energy enter his body and he instantly felt as if he needed to run the river because he felt a sense of unexplained loss deep in his soul.

He already had loss surging through his head, but this was a new feeling. of almost losing something. And that if he made it in time, he would not feel the loss. He couldn't explain this feeling but he knew he had to be here.

And as if fate had planned this, he stumbled upon this girl almost drowning, he felt a sense of innate sorrow as he saw this and dived in without hesitation.

Is this really fate?

Because everything happening to him today was filled with the unexpected.
