Chapter 41 - Back to Lys

287 AC, Gates of Volantis…

Gerold opened his eyes and found himself back at the temple. He looked around to be sure that he was really in there. Suddenly, a headache came to his head and similar words rang in his ears.

"Is féidir liom cumhacht a dheonú duit…"

Gerold threw the black stone in his hand to the ground and, soon, words went away in the wind like a cold breeze…

Trios was laughing with a great joy seeing Gerold woke up and sane while R'hllor's mouth was hanged upon.

"This… this is impossible! Even I, a god, could only stand for thirty seconds! You must have been cheated… Yes, you cheated, that is the reason!!" R'hllor shrieked while throwing her hands out.

Trios harrumphed hearing what she said and coldly looked at her, "Bitch, do you think you can escape by spouting nonsense?"

"Me spouting nonsense? This mortal has cheated or else how can he resist it for this long?"

Gerold held his head while two of them were bickering. He was feeling but this tiredness did not come from his muscles but rather his spirit.

"Enough, both of you are acting like a child!" The hall of the temple suddenly quieted down as the two gods looked at Gerold, "As it is clear now I have won, you must abide by rules and obey my command. I, as the emissary of God, order you to leave the realm and never return!"

"Hmph, you mortals are all the same. Do you think just because of a game you can keep me away? I am inevitable!!"

R'hllor screamed out as her godly body began fading to the thin air while Trios looked at her with eyes full of satisfaction. However, the impact of R'hllor's banishment was not limited to only this as thousands of red priests died in the Planetos, at the same time.

All of these priests had some powers linked to the R'hllor, however, those powers' fuel was nothing other than their life force. When R'hllor was banished from this realm, there was nothing left to give them life force to support them.

Gerold straightened his body as he looked towards where R'hllor faded into nothingness.

"Let's go back, our job is done here…"

...

Today marked the end of R'hllor's reign of terror in the Annals of the Prophet. The people of Volantis were cleansed of this foul demon's influence as they were granted a place in the embrace of God, something many wishes to have.

However, this day was also marked as the day of betrayal for the holy temple as the men and women who ate from the hands of the Prophet has betrayed him.

The gates of Lys were opened to the minions of the demon and the city was ravaged by those ungodly men. However, with the faith of the Prophet, the holy guards stood strong through the streets and managed to repel them.

Though the ungodly and dishonest men of the faceless demon who disguised as the holy people of Lys sneaked to the Palace of Rogare and slain the Prince Raenar Rogare and two children he hid in his study room.

Prince Raenar fought valiantly to protect those who were adopted by the Prophet himself but the minions of the demon used their foul magic to overwhelm him or else how could they, the ungodly ones, could have defeated the one chosen by him, the Prophet?

The wrath of the Prophet was terrible when he saw what happened to his beloved city. The sea raged with his anger and the galleys of the enemy went deep into the sea in shame. The holy guards of Lys found a new strength in themselves when they caught sight of the Prophet.

The city was cleansed of the minions of demons and those who pretended to be merchants but acted as spies were all cleansed. Only the faithful remained in the city and all of them wanted vengeance for the cruelties they have endured. The Prophet offered all citizens the comfort they needed and swore vengeance upon those who wronged them and tried to corrupt them.

The Vengeance of the Prophet was going to be recorded in the annals as the bloodiest moment in the history of men.

287 AC, Lys…

The meeting room in the Temple of Lys was quiet but the only thing that could be heard was the throwing sounds of candles and vases in the room. Gerold was throwing everything he could get into his hands.

Gerold did not expect the city to fall in such a quick fashion. Indeed, the city was bound to fall as there was a small garrison but there was one thing he did not expect, faceless men.

Faceless men sneaked to the city and opened the gates for the invaders and they even had the gut to go and kill Raenar and the two Targaryen children. All the planning went downhill just like that. The only problem was not the death of these two children but how did the others know them?

Gerold hid them in the city with extreme measures but they were still found out. He was sure that there was not a spy in the city as he cleansed the city from them before going to King's Landing to rescue them. Nevertheless, the damage was done and he needed to clear things up.

After some time, Gerold stopped and went to the main seat to sit. As soon as he sat he looked around and saw Trios sitting and looking around him with a bored expression while Sargoso, head of the temple of Lys, sitting there with a weary and hateful face.

"Sargoso, I want a full report on the situation of the city and priests will work all day to heal those who are wounded. Send men to dispose of Targaryen children's bodies quietly as it is obvious some people outside of the city knew their existence. We need to cut all our relations and act as if nothing happened."

"Your Holiness, people would want to see those two children you adopted buried so…"

"Prepare two graves and fill them with two other children's bones who died during the siege, it's better if they are orphans. Hire men and women to distribute food for a week and put more guards throughout the streets to prevent anarchy in the streets."

"I'm sure, the faithful won't resort to violence."

"Yes, yes, they won't resort to violence but still, it's better to be prepared."
