Chapter 23 - Chapter 22 - Crystal

Everyone was happy with the gifts I had gotten them. They hadn't even seen the food I had brought. It was mostly stuff that was in cans, but it was better than the granola bars that we've been eating. I wanted to make it a good surprise, so I was determined to cook a nice meal for everyone. Only Alex and Jane's knew that I had brought food, because Jane's had gone above and beyond to hide everything.

I was on guard duty today. Some humans had entered the forest, and had already been here for a week and a half. Most humans only stay for a week, but these ones had been here a while now. Shaylia had given one of them a warning, but it was ignored. If they did not leave, they were going to get a warning in person. If that warning wasn't heeded, then they would be exterminated. I noticed that the humans would dissapear for a while, and then reappear in the same area.

I heard something behind me, and turned.

"I think it is time to tell the humans to leave our forest," Irenia said.

Irenia is another forest guard for our tribe.

"You would think they would be more careful in enemy territory," I noted.

"We are not fighting all humans, we are fighting the ones in charge," She reminded me, "These don't seem like the ones we are fighting. In fact, I think that some of them were former prisoners."

"I'm not surprised. Humans imprison their own kind quite often," I informed, "That doesn't mean that they aren't dangerous."

"Humans have no honor anymore," She scoffed.

"Some may not even be human. I'm convinced that the black haired one is something quite different."

"Oh? How did you come to that conclusion?" She inquired.

"He has a much bigger aura than the others. The only ones who don't have a magical aura at all are the two girls, the one with short blonde hair, and the one with brown hair," I explained.

"Interesting observation, Trenor," She noted, "You were always good at detecting magic aura."

"Thank you."

Receiving a complement from Irenia was rare, because she strived to make all wariors to improve, and usually gave us constructive criticism. When she gave a complement, she was actually impressed with our abilities.

"They're dissapearing again. I'm going to follow the last one, and hopefully find their residence," I said.

She nodded.

I moved through the trees, never taking my eyes off of the girl. It was the one with long blonde hair. She seemed to have a destination, because she was walking quickly. When I saw where the humans had set up camp, I almost laughed. They had chosen a bad spot for sure. They were lucky that my friend who lived in that space had gone on a month long mission. My friend had chosen this spot because of his animal companion, though you can't really call that creature an animal, because it was just as smart, if bit smarter than those in my tribe. These humans were going to regret staying, if they chose to.

I traveled back to where Irenia was waiting.

"I am going to give them a warning. They set up camp in the worst possible spot,"

"Where?" She asked.

"Let's just say that Throanin and their dragon companion aren't going to be thrilled when they find out that their home has been taken over by a group of humans," I said with a smirk.

Her eyes widened, and she smiled. She almost laughed.

"You are completely correct."
