"Uh, Elizabeth, your coffee is ready. Please pick it up on the left counter, thank you."
Annika was busy calculating prices and serving customers in SunBucks. Infact, she has been loyal to her job. She has been working for 5 years in order for her to pay her tuition fees.
"Annika, your aunt is here to pick you up. Why didn't you tell me you were going in such early time?" The manager asks Annika, both of them were completely unaware about the news.
"What? No, tell Aunt Yaoki my shift isn't done yet.. And tell her to not pick me up." That's strange. Usually Aunt Yaoki doesn't picks me up and lets me go home by myself. It's not something urgent, right?
"She said it was urgen-" The manager wishes to finish her sentence, but Annika cut her off. "Urgent? Oh. Uhm, tell her I'll be home soon- Welcome to Sunbucks! How may I satisfy your needs?"
The manager sighed. What a diligent girl, it's sad I don't have enough budget to give her extra. And she's also working for her tuition fees too... Why, bless her. Then the manager gave a forced smile, then heading to tell Yaoki Annika's reply.
"Please, it's really urgent, I need Annika right now." Aunt Yaoki pleaded to the manager. "Okay, okay..I'll try." The manager comforted Aunt Yaoki.
"YaoYao really needs you, Anni." The manager shrugged her shoulders as she approached Annika. "...YaoYao? Is that what you call my aunt? How long have you been close?" Annika looked back with a confused tone and expression.
"Let's see~ Ever since you got promoted." Manager Kaye teased Annika. That was totally yesterday, I mean, no one gets close in just a day right? Or Manager Kaye is really just dumb or crazy. Annika then scoffed. "Okay, then. Don't blame me with unsatisfied customers." Annika let out a smirk, fingershooting the customers with an either annoyed or angry expression on their look. Manager Kaye had a terrible feeling about the complaints as it will surely affect the cafe's reputation.
Manager Kaye then sighed then smiled. "Goodluck and take care then. You have to remember I will deduct your salary next week!" Manager Kaye teased her, Annika then grunts and rolls her eyes walking out of the counter.
"What is it, Aunt Yaoki? What is this 'thing' so urgent? Emergency? Bad news?" Annika asked to Yaoki.
Yaoki chuckled. "Oh, dear dear, it is none of that. It is great news!" Yaoki smiled in excitement Owh, she could've just said it when I got home.
Storytime: Annika's Past
To put it simple, her mother and father died on the same day on a murder. Luckily, Annika was young that time so it didn't affect her that much. She doesn't plan to take revenge as it was years ago. The killer was already in jail, or should I say, dead? The killer killed alot of people and was hard to catch. He had a death penalty when he was caught by the police.
"Remember the very popular academy named Redwood College?" Yaoki smiled excitedly.
"Yes." Annika replied as she was untying her apron and putting it back to the counter. "Why, did you try to apply me and failed me again? That's common news alread-" Annika was cut off by Aunt Yaoki. "No, dear. We won a giveaway of the enrollment! Isn't that great?"
What? No! "Aunt Yaoki, I'm not fit for expensive colleges, I told you! I fit in another school! I fit in Greenhill College instead!" Annika looked back with a troubled expression.
Aunt Yaoki giggled. "It's okay dear. You just have to fit in with the new environment!" Aunt Yaoki smiled. "Um, I can't?!"
"It's okay dear, they'll go easy on you." Yaoki was still smiling excitedly. "Okay, fine then." Annika sighed smiling.
