At Delhi University....
Desha and her friends entered Campus Grove, it just newly opened the previous week. Hey, there is a great spot, we can go sit there, one of her friends pointed at a corner close to the window, the view is perfect, another friend said, yeah we can even see the dance floor, the bar and even the beautiful night view outside perfectly, the 3rd friend said.
Oh yes! it's just perfect, let's go, Desha replied them. Few minutes later they got there and sat. The music is boring, I expected better, the DJ is not it at all, if I were the manager, I would fire him instantly, one of the girls complained bitterly.
Well you are not the manager, I will help you out, I will go talk to the DJ to make this place more lively, but you right, I mean the music is dampening the spirits of students here, I can even see some of our young professors leaving the Grove, the other friend said, but where is the DJ by the way? the 2nd girl asked.
The 3rd girl looked around a little, saw him and pointed at the direction where he was busy with his DJing, oh there he is, she replied. Alright thanks, then the 2nd girl left to go speak to the DJ to change the boring music to lively ones.
Not long she left, the 3rd girl's phone rang, she then excused herself to go receive it. Desha then asked the first girl, what drink would she like that she would want to go to the bar section and get it, anything girl, the first friend replied.
Desha then left, went to the bar and ordered 4 glasses of orange sodas, she paid cash and asked the bar man to deliver it to her table, table 5 she said. The first girl on the table decided to look through her social media accounts to catch up on what was happening around the world.
As Desha made her way back to her table, the night view outside was really nice to behold, she thought to herself, and continued looking at it at the side of table 5. Few minutes later, because she was looking at the night view instead of where she was going, she collided with someone.
The next thing she heard was the noise of a shattered glass, she looked at the floor, broken glass and drinks were all over the place, she quickly looked at the person whom she collided with, am really sorry, I will buy you another drink, I will even pay for the broken glass, she said to the fellow.
You really don't have to miss, I wasn't looking at where I was going either, It's not entirely you fault, I am... before Bantu could finish, Sharu who was beside him angrily said to her, are you blind? don't you have eyes? look Desha you would pay for this mess you caused here.
Bantu firmly now defended Desha by telling Sharu to be quite that he would handle it, that he doesn't have to be rude to her. Abumali then said to Sharu, you really don't have to be like that, man! then he said Desha, miss please forgive him.
Immediately he said that, Bantu quickly asked, wow miss, I mean Desha are you not the same girl from this afternoon, the same one I bumped into? he recognised her from the afternoon incident, then Abumali confirmed it, yes miss you do look familiar.
Desha looked at Bantu few minutes then shook her head, oh yes, it is really you, I mean yes, it's me from this afternoon, with a smile in her face she continued, wow, what a small world, then she pointed to Abumali, and you are the friend that dragged him away all of a sudden at that time.
Embarrassed Abumali quickly defended himself, sorry about that Desha miss, we were heading somewhere and were already running late. Desha replied him with a smile on her face, that's alright, I understand, you really have nothing to worry about.
So she even collided with you earlier in the afternoon? unbelievable! miss, always watch were you going, otherwise you may not know who you messing with, Sharu angrily said to her and left, he couldn't take Bantu and Abumali's kindness anymore.
Don't worry I would talk to him, Abumali said to Desha and left to meet Sharu where he was already seated at their table still angry and bitter. Why you so angry at Desha, how do you know her personally anyway? Abumali asked him.
What makes you think I know her? Sharu asked. Well for a start, neither I nor Bantu know her, let alone her name, you mentioned her name in the heat of all that razmatas a while ago, so spill, do you have any beef with her personally? Abumali asked Sharu.
She is the student vice chair female elect, I don't really like her because I think she is trying to make all my input and hard work I did for this great university go to waste, and since she won the elections, she's been acting as if she knows it all with all of her brilliant ideas.
Oh you do admit that she has brilliant ideas, and you just jealous of her right? just admit you are, Abumali asked Sharu and teased him at the same time. Am not jealous man, beside she is not part of the convocation planning team anymore for now, I made sure of that, Sharu spoke
Guy that is not a wise thing to do, but what do you mean you made sure of that? Abumali asked. Well when the chairman of the convocation planning committee, Professor Singh went overseas for his sons wedding, his currently out of the country, he is in Saudi Arabia at the moment.
He left me in charge of the student planning team, he gave me the keys to the meeting room at the senate building, the one for students, and I made sure both Desha and her entire student elect team be cut out completely from the regular meetings I and the real team do hold from time to time.
Next weekend, when we report to the lecturers' planning committee members, we will just present the ideas and make it look as if Desha and her team added some inputs. And whatever role Professor Singh has given them, I will make sure that we the real student body council members perform them, not amateurs like Desha and her team.
Abumali shook his head, and said to Sharu, man, you one to let go of some of your team members but I never knew you had it in you to go to any lengths just to do it. My candid advice is to stop whatever it is you trying to do.
I mean you have done enough damage already, you already cut them out from the meetings with the current student council members, you really don't have to take away the responsibilities from them, Just let them perform the task, well that would be damage control. But if it were up to me, I wouldn't advice you cut them out from the beginning.
Sharu replied by saying well Abumali! you said it yourself, if it were up to you, well it is not, it is all up to me, now drink up, and let's forget this topic, it's boring anyway and all this talk is beginning to make me hungry, he then looked around, where is the waiter with our food orders by the way? Not long, the waiter came with their food.
Abumali looked around, and said, the food is here, but Bantu is not here. Just forget about Bantu, let's eat, Sharu replied him. Abumali kept on looking while Sharu started eating, few minutes later, he spotted Bantu on the dance floor, the music had become much livelier, and Bantu was enjoying himself, there he was dancing with Desha.
Bantu and Desha danced well together that other dancers and onlookers assumed then to be a real couple, their thought even became strong when Bantu and Desha came closer together for the slow dance. The music was slow but still interesting, it did not bore those seated, eating or having drinks.
Desha you look lovely tonight, Bantu said. Thanks for the flattering Bantu, and you know I wouldn't be dancing with you, you guilt tricked me into it, Desha replied. You know Desha, consider the dance as a payment for my drinks you spilled and glass you shattered, Bantu said.
I wasn't complaining, I even offered to pay financially for the damages, Desha replied. Don't worry about that, I will put it on my tab, Bantu responded. Thanks again Bantu. You welcome Desha. Immediately he said that, he drew Desha closer to the point where she looked into his eyes.
Their eyes met, Desha became shy all of a sudden and looked down. Bantu then used his right hand to gently raise her head to look at him back again, then he asked her, are you shy? come on look at me, this beauty of yours I want to behold it.
Desha decided to leave the dance floor, she remembered she had a boyfriend, Shamu whom she didn't want to cheat on. She didn't know what was happening to her, the way she looked at Bantu lovingly, she knew she had never looked at Shamu same way, and it became worse especially since the day he started pestering her to give him details about Sonal.
Now come to think of it, this made her a little upset, was he cheating on her with Sonal? she inwardly asked herself, then she removed the thought from her mind, Sonal wouldn't do that to her, she is not like that, but then again she still needed to confirm and find out from Shamu himself.
Bantu pulled Desha back to himself and said to her, you look a little lost, tell me what is bothering you that you don't want to dance with me any more. Desha then lied to him, the shattered glass, I just want to ensure the waiters had cleared it before someone gets hurts by the shattered glass.
Desha come on, that? You need not worry, the waiters have cleared it, we both saw one of them clearing it up before I decided to bring you to the Dance floor to dance with me, Bantu replied. Oh yes, I remember now, Desha replied then they continued slow dancing.
After a while Desha then asked, can we go and eat? am getting hungry. Sure we can get a free table, just the two of us, Bantu replied. I came with my friends today, and what about your friends, come on we can't just abandon them, Desha said.
True Desha, we shouldn't abandon them, Bantu replied but he wanted to spend more time with her, he just respected her decision, he didn't want to force anything on her and risk pushing her away. Alright let's go, he said.
They stopped dancing, but as they were going, he gave Desha his fake complementary card, the one bearing Bantu with his disguised face, and the disguised number he uses as Bantu. Then he said to her, please call me Desha when you have the time.
Desha collected with the intention of never calling or seeing him again, she smiled at him and said okay Bantu. Bantu hugged her briefly, then they each seperated and went to their friends at different tables.
Desha friends looked at her puzzled, as she sat. The question on their faces made her then say, girls it's not what you think, nothing going on. Oh really Desha? you two both danced so well that one would have mistook you two as a real couple, the second friend said.
Girl few minutes I stepped out to make a call, you got yourself entangled on the dance floor with who? The first friend asked. Bantu, his name is Bantu alright? and we are just friends, I have Shamu remember? Desha said to her. Oh right that Shamu of a guy, girl if you were to ask me, you look way better with Bantu than that Shamu guy, the third friend said.
