Unknown to Tania, her Igor uncle had placed a hearing device under the right side of her bed.
He had been listening from his room.
Though the entire conversation was not clear to him, he could hear bits and pieces of the conversation that was going on in Tania's room. This was because Mr Dinesh Sharma had been walking to and fro and coming in front of the hearing device which was somehow stopping the voice content. It could be due the air being displaced by his movement or the the swishing of the bed cover.
Igor managed to gather the facts that a lady, named Sanya, had visited someplace where Tania and her paternal grandfather were present. She told Tania and her paternal grandfather about a hidden treasure buried in a cave near Kalibangan, in present day Rajasthan, India. The treasure comprised of ancient jewels, a golden crown, robes (which would have turned to dust by now) as well as a scepter with a huge diamond.
To him, all that mattered was getting hold of the hidden treasure. Once he got his hands on it, he would sell it in the collectors market for huge profits. He knew that Internationally there were people who had lots of money and they would pay for such items directly or through private auctions of such items.
"I need to keep an eye on Tania, Dinesh Sharma and Mira Sharma," Igor voiced his thoughts. "I need to have the latest information a to when they will be going to India and if any more information of the treasure us passed on to the Sharmas."
Igor was daydreaming about the treasure . He had heard the conversation in Tania's room about their wanting to shift to India soon and then to visit this place called Kalibangan. He would ensure that he would follow them to India when they left Moscow. It was easy to convince his mother, Nikita to tag along, as she had started doting on his niece, Tania.
He had never liked Tania. He was not at all happy when many years ago his sister, Svetlana, married that Indian doctor, Mahesh Sharma. His sister and the Indian doctor had been studying to become doctors in a Moscow Medical College. His sister was in the first year whereas the Indian student was in the final year.
Both of them had fallen in love. He was not happy with this cross culture, cross religious connection. He had even expressed his unhappiness on this matter to his sister, whom he visited when she was pregnant with Tania.
But, like all goons, he was not averse to the property etc that his sister and his brother in law had left behind for their daughter, after their death in the car crash.
He remembered that he had got someone to fidget with the foot break as well as the hand break of the car, so that it would not stop when either the foot break or the hand break were applied. They could not avoid the oncoming speeding truck by taking a cut as the breaks did not get applied the car had rammed into the speeding truck. They had died instantaneously.
Since the noises from the listening device had ceased he realised that they were all heading for sleep. Hence, he was also done for the day. So he switched off the receiving end of the device. He was sure that they would never figure out about the listening devise. They had got to know about the CCTV camera because it was not a small one. Tania had seen it and had covered it with a cloth.
He knew that now he needed to be careful as Tania would have told her Indian grandparents about the CCTV. They would have guessed that he had placed it and had removed it today.
The conversation in Tania's room had already ended on a positive note that they all would be heading to India shortly. This information needed to be conveyed to Tania's Nani ji as well as her Igor Uncle. This could be done tomorrow.
The other point to be discussed was related to the award giving ceremony in connection of the acceptance of Tania's thesis. She was due to receive a citation at the ceremony in the college. Her colleagues were also to be honored in a similar fashion.
Since she wanted her grandparents from both sides to attend the function, their journey to India would commence after the function. This would mean 20-25 days from today. This was agreed too by her parental grandparents.
Since it was getting late, they dispersed for the night.
Next morning the household woke up with the chirping of the birds and Tania went off for a jog around the block. When she returned, everyone was awake and sitting in the study having their morning cup of tea.
"Good morning, Namaste everyone!" She greeted everyone in the study and sat down, her Nani ji handed her a cup of tea
Discussions were brought around to the coming convocation which was slated two week from today. Tania would be receiving her degree as well as the citation for completing her project in record time. They would all be attending this prideful moment in her life. After all her parents were no longer alive to attend such a proud moment, but they all would go to support her.
Everyone dispersed to reassemble in the dinning hall for breakfast. Since it was a Thursday, they all would be having thin pancakes with potato gravy. Tania loved this flat pancakes idea. She enjoyed Indian food and her Dadi ji cooked it without too many spices.
As Tania was heading for her room, there was a call from the psychiatrist. He wanted to know whether they could come to his clinic today afternoon. Sanya had connected with him too to tell him a few things which he needed to convey to them.
Tania went to her grandfather's room and informed him about the call from the psychiatrist, Dr. Victor Dimetrius, who wanted to meet them this afternoon and convey some important information.
