"It takes only one man to make a difference. But a difference will never affect only one man."
"Crack!" the twigs break as Edgar tried to stand up. He sees green grass and he realizes that he is somewhere in a park in the middle of a bustling city.
"Dr. Edgar! Dr. Edgar! Come, join us eat!" said the little girl as she grabbed Edgar's hand.
"I'm sorry, little girl. May I ask your name? And why do you call me a doctor? You must be mistaken but I am not a doctor." he said with absolute wonder.
"Dr. Edgar is being silly again. Off course you are a doctor. You're one of the best in our city, you vowed to make every dream come true. Let's hurry, I'm starving." the girl chuckled as she persistently pulls Edgar directing him towards their spot in the picnic ground. Edgar followed the little girl with a confused thought. He let his eyes roam around the park full of people having picnics and their morning jog, and trees when he saw a billboard with his face on, it says:
"Welcome to Cumber Corp. Recreational Park. This park is dedicated to all the citizen of our beloved city, Manila! We thank all those who have continuously patronize our services and support our rehabilitation programs! Remember, YOUR DREAM IS OUR BUSINESS!"
"Hurry doc, I'm really starved. I can eat a whole horse but I better not, that would be gross. Yuck! Ha Ha Ha! Mom prepared a more delicious and nutritious ham sandwich and your favorite pineapple pizza." as she tugged him more.
They came closer and he saw the man with the detainee shirt from earlier in the lab. "Michael Curt? What is he doing in here?"
Upon reaching the picnic spot they were approached by Michael and introduced her wife, Amber and his son, Jeff, and daughter, Maricris.
"Wow! Edgar, ah no, not Edgar but Doctor Edgar." he laughed. "You really lived up to your dream of being a scientist look at how professional those white clothes are. Congrats, buddy! Uhm, what's up with that bandage in your head? You bump your head or something?" he remarked to Edgar as they sat in the green soft grass that was covered by the picnic blanket.
"I might have bumped it!" Edgar replied while he gently touched the bandaged area of his head still looking bewildered. "That's not a good image in front of the press. Your press conference starts in 30 minutes. Here, let me help you in removing that thing." Michael started removing the bandage in Edgar's head when suddenly, blood drips from his head to his hand and on his white polo, staining it red. He investigated the dripping blood in his hand and fear permeated his soul again when Michael stopped moving and fell beside him.
Fearing what he saw he backed away and looked at the others, Michael's daughter was crying in her mother's side that was faceless and a bullet hole in their head started bleeding profusely, screaming at the opposite direction from where he is seated.
He was shocked by what he has seen. The grass in the park became brown and the trees started to wither. He stood up and hear a loud rumbling sound as the sinkhole in the middle began swallowing half of the park. Edgar grabbed Maricris' hand and managed to run and escape the park. Arriving at the park's gate, Michael's daughter let go of Edgar's hand as she turned into dust. Edgar looked back and tried to stop but was too late because Maricris was now on the mouth of the sinkhole. She continued to disappear and said, "Please save me, uncle! I'll be waiting for you...!", to Edgar with her high pitched voice before completely vanishing.
The gate closed at full force just as Edgar left foot got out of the park and Maricris vanished with the wind. The once pretty and full of life park that has become a dark dull place. Dead skeletons of the press can be seen from afar. He started running in the dilapidated city ruins where it seems abandoned. Rusted cars filled the roads, tall brown grasses grew in the sidewalk.
The Cumber Corporation main building is the only building not remaining on its feet and has collapsed. As soon as he started examining the big crumbled structure, a nearby big screen located in a T.V. station at the town square started playing videos of reports about Cumber Corp.
"Henry Cumber, the owner of the biggest company in the city, the Cumber Corporation, have declared the official heir of his company. His grandson, Edgar Cumber, who is studying Neurosurgery will be the official heir of the company. It was announced at Edgar's 21st birthday. Will the company prosper or die? That will be in the hands of soon to be Owner of the Cumber Corporation."
"Cumber Corporation, after the installment of Edgar Cumber as the new C.E.O., came into a breakthrough in Quantum Computing, they call it Amalgamation Quantum Computer or AQC. The new technology is claimed to be multiple times faster than our current supercomputers in the world. It can simulate the whole universe, from destructive supernovas to the creation of new planets. Henry Cumber said that it will be primarily used by the Company to simulate brain functions to better understand the human brain by using only a few resources and at much higher efficiency."
"Two years after the release of the Cumber Quantum Computer by the Cumber Corporation, new technology has been discovered by the firm with the aid of scientist from all over the world. It is called Robopod. Robopod is a robotic surgeon and can automatically perform necessary surgery needed by the patient by the aid of the new and reformed Artificial Intelligence of the Cumber Quantum Computer, FAQA. The firm intends to reproduce it and sell it internationally. The spokesperson of the Company, Kylie Amber, said that this technology will help us cope with the decline of doctors specializing in Surgery especially in the field of Neurosurgery."
"Cumber Corporation yet again innovates health and technology by perfecting the most advance brain wave reader and memory decoder. These devices read mind by brainwaves produced at specific parts of the brain especially in the parts where memory and emotion are stored and controlled. They are now developing the technology to write and alter the memory of the dying patient to fulfill the patient's last requests. Another big innovation but will it be used in good?" The company's critique posted in his live account.
