Chapter 5 - Abracadavra, Coffee to Coke

They arrived at McDo, the one near the biggest mall in the city. Erik parked his car in front of the bank just across the street of the food chain. Darylle got out of the car when he remembered he didn't bring money with him. "Wait...I forgot to bring money." He told him. "You're embarrassing me. Of course I'm going to pay for your food." He replied as he smiled and took his hand. Erik then pulled Darylle across the street and into McDonalds.

There were a bit of people inside. But there was no queue in the counter. Erik walked towards the female attendant who seemed to be charmed by his looks. Darylle could tell she liked him. She was quite attentive, even becoming almost flirty. But Erik didn't notice that. He turned to him. "You? What do you want to eat?" He asked him.

Darylle saw the reaction of the female attendant upon learning that he's with the guy he liked. "Chicken Burger and Coffee Float." He told him. "Add a medium fries to that." Erik told the lady. "I can't finish all of that Erik." He said. "You're hungry and you missed dinner." Erik reminded him.

"You are so preoccupied when you do something you love." Erik said as they waited for their orders while Darylle was doing his best, dodging mean looks from the female attendant. She was just their age and she's quite pretty.

"Hey, what's up with you?" Erik asked him. "Nothing." Darylle said smiling. "I must be really hungry." He added. Just in time, their order was complete. Erik took the tray and lead him to a table.

The ones in front of them counter were empty but Erik went towards the inner part of McDonalds. He placed the tray of food on a table with cushion seats, beside the second entrance of the place.

Darylle settled on the seat in front of him as he carefully placed his drink and food near him. "She got you coke float instead of coffee float." Erik said as he noticed the attendant's mistake. "That's okay. I can drink that." He replied as he felt his hunger upon seeing the food he ordered.

"Do you know her?" Erik said as he took his seat. "Who?" Darylle said as he uncover his chicken burger. "The female attendant." He answered.

Darylle took a bite and looked at him. He must have noticed how the girl looks at him while waiting for their order. "No. Must be a girl who I refuse to give antibiotics because she doesn't have a prescription." He lied.

Erik didn't seem convinced so he took a sip on his coke float. "I've consumed it already so you can't complain. Now go eat." Darylle said as he continued eating his burger when he realized they ordered the same thing.

"What were you saying earlier while we were ordering?" Darylle asked, trying to start a conversation. Erik sipped on his drink and swallowed. "I said you are too preoccupied when you do something you love." He said.

"Is that a good thing, or a bad thing?" Darylle asked. Erik turned to his burger and uncover more parts of it. "Well, it is especially when you are single. Maybe that's why you are single." He said.

"Coming from you who didn't even notice the attendant was almost flirting with him." Darylle said as he took another bite of his burger.

"Wait-what?" Erik said as he put his burger down. He then realized what Darylle just said. "Oh, well, I guess I'm just like you." He said smiling.

He laughed. "You're preoccupied with food?" He asked laughing at him.

Erik looked into his eyes and smiled. "No, with you." He said.

"No comment." Darylle said as he looked away while eating the rest of his burger.

He could still feel Erik was looking at him. "What?" He asked him, turning to him.

"So you noticed that the attendant like me. Are you jealous?" Erik asked him while he was drinking. Darylle didn't manage to stop himself as he splashes the drink from his mouth towards his chest upon hearing it. "Sorry." He said as he coughed, wiping his chest with napkins.

"Ew." Erik said though he was laughing while trying to help him wiped the drink off his shirt.

After Darylle was done wiping it, he tried to compose himself. "It's your fault you know." He said as Erik was still laughing at him. Some customers were looking at them. "That's so embarrassing." Darylle said as he wiped his mouth with the unused napkins.

"So it's true then. You are jealous." Erik said. Darylle just looked at him sarcastically and mouthed, "Very funny." But Erik was still laughing. "Maybe that lady put something in your drink. I'll complain to the counter." He said, standing up and taking his drink.

"No, sit down." Darylle said as he held his hand. Erik sat down and smiled at him. "So you don't want me coming near to her, huh?" He asked. He didn't answer and felt his face becoming hot. "Aw, you're blushing." Erik said.

Darylle touched her face. He didn't have his bag with him, which usually contain his make-up essentials. It was indeed hot.

"I already got my answer for tonight." Erik said as he finished his burger and started to his fries. He smiled at him.

"Don't make me splattered my coke float at you again." He warned.

"I was about to ask you about yourself more. But what happened tonight made me discover things myself." He told Darylle who just finished his burger as well. "I should thank that girl you know. Whatever she put into that coke float of yours to make you blush." He said. "You really look beautiful." He added.

Good thing Darylle wasn't drinking when he said that. Or he'll splash his drink again at him through his mouth.

Before things could go awkward, Daryl excused himself. "I'll get gravy for my fries." He said standing up and head straight to the gravy counter.
