Chapter 3 - Chapter 2 - Dark Whispers

As I silently groaned over the role I consoled myself with the fact that I at least did not get a negative mutation. I walked towards the front of the train and find myself unable to open the next door. I try to force the door open but the door does not budge at all under my measly strength. I decide to try out sensing the mana around me so that I can use my new bloodline ability. The message stated that I should be able to burn the mana in my body in order to strengthen myself, but in order to do that, I have to have mana to burn first. I close my eyes and focus on the air around me, as I focus I can 'see' little beads of yellow light slowly flash into existence around me.

[Host has learned Wind Magic - Low-Mortal 1☆]

[Host has awakened his talent of Wind Speaker - Mortal 2☆]

[Wind Speaker - Only about 1/1,000 wind mages is normally a Wind Speaker, but just being one does not qualify you to become a wind mage, however, Wind Speakers find themselves better able to control and absorb the wind mana around them, helping them grow faster and have stronger attacks, but many Wind Speakers fall due to the fact that they usually have lower aptitudes with the other magics and are defeated by opponents that can easily neutralize Wind Magic, or when they are in areas with little Wind Mana]

The series of messages disrupts my concentration and the beads of mana quickly flash out of existence. As I read them my emotions go from shock, to happiness, to fear. I quickly try to sense the other 3 types of mana I can easily guess about and find that I am unable to sense the others. I guess I may be able to awaken them in the future with my system, but if that gate is as deadly as it is terrifying, I might not have the time in order to grow.

While I try to ignore the implications of only being able to use wind magic I try to calm myself down and focus on absorbing mana. As I summon the yellow beads of mana back into existence I try to will them to come towards me. The beads of light slowly enter my body filling it with a cold warmth. Checking my status I see my MP slowly filling up. Once it is filled up all the way I attempt to funnel the mana into my hand. My hand turns into a yellow-gold form and I punch the door, this time putting a dent in the door. A few punches later the door lock folds under the pressure and the door cracks open. I stop pushing mana into my hand and the color retreats back into my normal hand. I see that my mana has already fallen by 100, it seems that with my current mana and bloodline purity, I can not hold the transformations for that long.

I open the door and quickly scan around the car, this should be the last car before I reach the front locomotive(the part at the front and back of a train), I see a sight that would haunt my dreams for weeks to come, the front part of the car is ripped off with jagged edges sticking out and the bodies of the train staff laying all over the floor. There is no blood except for the conductor's corpse at the edge of the car which is separated cleanly leaving only the front of the corpse, all of the other corpses have wide eyes and are woundless. I look out of the large hole in the car and find no trace of the locomotive, the rest of this car, or the rest of the conductor's body. I check one of the bodies to see if they are OK and feel a cold corpse with no heartbeat. I turn around and vomit again, the second time in one day.

I turn back around and start walking back to warn the others about the death of the entire train staff as well as the damage and disappearance of the front of the train. When I arrive back at the passenger cars most of the people have woken up. The man I talked to earlier walks up to me and asks me "did you find anyone up there that needs help, we have a wound care specialist over there who has helped with some injuries in this car?"

"The locomotive is completely gone and the second car has a large chunk ripped out of it, it seems all of the crew was there and most of them died without injury. After she is done over here it would be great if she could try to check out how they all died."

The man calls the doctor over and she says "I am not a medical examiner but I will try my best."

We walk over to the front of the train and the doctor pales as she sees the scene she looks at the corpses and states "the conductor obviously died due to the injury, it probably occurred when the car was split in two, and the rest of them seem to have died due to shock, heart attack, something along those lines. However, the conductor and the cars wounds seem special, I have seen many injuries before, but the only thing I have seen that has left this kind of pattern is a bite mark. And by the size of the train whatever left these marks seems to be humungous" she backs away a little bit once she notices the implications, "I have got to go back, we don't want to be here if that thing comes back looking for more food"
